Transmigrated: The Lycan King’s Pet

Chapter 185 Golden

"Enough! I don't want to talk about it anymore." The tension in the air was replaced by silence.

The King turned to me. "Take her to her room. If she escapes again, I will have your heads." He ordered the guards, who stood by the entrance door.

"No, no, no please, uncle. Don't do this to me!" I stepped back, horrified by the approaching guards.

I frantically ran to my mother, tugging the edge of her sleeve. "Mother, please talk with uncle… please."

The hope in my eyes slowly grew distant. My mother turned her back at me, "This is for your own good, if you grow older you will understand." Her words were cold and emotionless.

The guards grabbed me by my hands. "Princess," they bowed their heads.

I struggled before pulling my hands from their grasp. "I can walk by myself." I snapped at them.

I cast a final look at my family, it seems like they have been planning this for a while and I was the only one who was oblivious to it.

My eyes lingered on my aunt, whose face was as red as a tomato, her fist clenched tightly against her skirt. 'What happened between them?'

If I wanted to get the answer she was the only one who would spill the beans.

There was so much I wanted to say, but knowing they won't let me say a thing, I turned around and walked out of the room.

'I wanted to negotiate with him, in a way that is beneficial to both of us. But now that he wouldn't listen to me, he shouldn't blame me if I refuse to accept this duty.'

I entered my room, and the soldiers stood outside my door. My eyes flickered across my room, which was painted pink.

I grimaced, the colour was so childish and I never liked it, but I had pretended it was my favourite seeing how enthusiastic my mother was while decorating the room.

I walked towards the window and opened it wide.

A tear trickled down my cheeks, I was a prisoner in my own home… my own home. My eyes fixated on the busy streets, with children running around happily, and their parents walking behind them.

Others were busy buying and selling. 'I wish my family were just ordinary fae, maybe we would be more like a real family and not business partners.'

A white butterfly perched on my cheek, its wings flapping gently.

'Princess, why are you crying?'

I looked down at the butterfly, then I raised my hand. It perched on my hand, with a soft frown on its face.

"My family is giving me away… in marriage."

'Why?'

"Because I don't have wings I suppose."

'Oh. but don't be sad… we will be with you.'

A faint smile curled on my lips, and I caressed it with my finger. The butterflies have been with me for as long as I can remember.

The first time I heard them speak I almost fell off the railing I was resting on, it was only a few days after I turned eighteen. And not just that, I could see their expressions too, they always referred to me as princess, but called my sisters by their names.

Before I could reply to the butterfly, a kaleidoscope of butterflies flew in spirals in the blue sky, causing a colourful, stunning view against the sky.

However, my heart skipped a beat when a purely golden butterfly flew towards me. Its presence was so powerful and commanding… for a butterfly.

My brows knitted in confusion, I had seen thousands of butterflies, but never had I seen one this golden.

The butterfly flew towards me, perching on my hand.

"Princess Aeris, it is an honour to meet you. I am golden… the last of my kind."

The words of golden brought an ache to my chest, and it was difficult to breathe.

"It is an honour to meet you too golden." I smiled faintly at it. "I'm sorry to hear about your kind."

"They have been gone for centuries now, and I am reaching my end now… and I can not find my way home. The other butterflies said you can help me, can you take me home?"

"They said so?" I turned to the other butterflies, but they quickly turned their faces from me. "I would have loved to help you… But you came at the wrong time. The King has placed an order that I must not leave the room until the day I am getting married."

I gently caressed its body, its golden wings fluttered weakly leaving golden dust on my palm, the dust was warm, and for some reason, it made my heart flutter. A sad expression was smeared on its face.

"Does that mean I won't even get home before I die?" it muttered with its head lowered.

"Princess, please help Golden get back home." White pouted with its tiny hands clasped together.

I sighed, a mischievous glint flickered through my eyes. "Do you know the name of your home?"

It shook its head. "I can only remember it has many golden lights, the home is enormous and made of wood and leaves."

"O… Okay, but you shouldn't be sad now. I'll help you find your way back home." I smiled brightly at it.

Deep down I cannot help but feel sad for it. Being the last of your kind, with no family and no one who understands you was painful, it was like you were living to keep the memories of your kind alive… dying would mean the world forgetting your kind once existed.

"Thank you, princess, can I stay with you?"

"Yes golden, you can stay with me." I caressed it.

"What about us, Princess?!" the other butterflies demanded in unison.

"No. You are not lost." I giggled, before walking towards my bed.

"Make yourself feel at home golden, let me know if you need anything." The bed deepened under my weight.

"Yes princess, and I am very grateful that you are willing to help me."
