Chapter 121: Chapter 121
They arrived on the third day at Fukui Prefecture.
Akemi finally appeared, driving the car that carried Lin Yi and the other two into the mountains.
On the way, Akemi tossed a pair of documents to Lin Yi and Wakamatsu.
Lin Yi took one and, upon opening it, saw that it was a gun license.
The photo was his, but the name did not match his real one.
Akemi, noticing Lin Yi's expression, explained, "You can only apply for a gun license when you turn twenty. Since you don't meet the requirement, I got you another identity."
Lin Yi understood the situation and took the license that came with the documents. This was a hunting license.
"So... we're going hunting? And we're using hunting shotguns?" Lin Yi asked.
Akemi nodded with a smile and said, "Exactly. Get familiar with the shotguns first. When we're deeper into the mountains, we'll switch to other types of weapons."
Lin Yi grasped the plan. They were using hunting as an excuse. Once deep in the forest, they would switch to the necessary weapons for the heist they were planning.
This surprised Lin Yi. He hadn't expected Akemi to have prepared so much for this heist, something that the anime did not show in such detail.
Of course, he thought, each episode of the anime lasted at most thirty minutes. If you took out the intro, the ending, and the commercials, there were only about twenty-five minutes left, and if you removed unnecessary dialogues, the essential content was less than fifteen minutes. It was not unusual for many things to be omitted.
As for Yoshino Kasaka joining them, Akemi had no objections since everyone there knew each other.
After driving for an hour, they started along a dirt road. The road was so bumpy that they had to significantly reduce their speed.
After driving like that for two hours on the bumpy road, they finally reached a cabin in the forest.
"Are we there yet?" asked Wakamatsu, sore from the trip, noticing the car coming to a stop.
"Yes, we're here," Akemi responded, setting the handbrake and turning off the engine.
The four of them got out of the car with their backpacks on their shoulders. They crossed a wooden bridge and headed towards the cabin in the forest.
Akemi led the way. As they walked, she said, "We'll stay here for the next three days. I'll teach you how to shoot as quickly as possible."
"And the weapons?" Wakamatsu asked, curious.
"They're hidden near the cabin."
"Hidden?" Wakamatsu looked around, intrigued. "Here in the middle of nowhere, there are no cameras... But what if someone finds them and takes them?"
"The guns and bullets are hidden in different places. If someone finds them all, it would be a matter of bad luck. Hey, big guy, what's wrong with your leg?" Akemi asked suddenly, noticing the strange way Wakamatsu was walking.
"No... it's nothing," he responded, trying to play it off.
But Lin Yi intervened, "In the two days we've been in Fukui, he's been holed up in his room with women. It seems he had never been with one in his life. You wouldn't believe the looks the receptionists gave us when we left the hotel."
Wakamatsu blushed and protested, "It wasn't two days! I didn't even reach 48 hours!"
"Then how long was it?"
"Just... just about 38 hours."
"Wow, impressive. You worked 19 hours a day and only rested 5 hours to eat, go to the bathroom, and sleep. I admire you."
"Well... it wasn't bad. Hahaha," Wakamatsu said, laughing shamelessly.
Seeing his attitude, Lin Yi couldn't help but sigh. He had witnessed how a virgin had become a regular customer.
When they reached the cabin, Akemi opened the door and checked that the water, electricity, and gas were in order. Then she took a shovel and led them to an area behind the cabin to start digging.
In no time, they unearthed a box. They moved to another spot and dug again, pulling out another small box.
They carried both boxes inside the cabin.
Upon opening them, their contents were revealed: one was full of weapons, and the other, ammunition.
Akemi distributed the weapons: a shotgun, a rifle, and a pistol for each of them, except for Kasaka Yoshino.
"We've lost two days, so we only have three left. Time is limited, so I'll explain how to use the weapons as we go."
"So rushed?" Wakamatsu protested, feeling his legs weak. "Can't we rest a bit more?"
Akemi sighed with a resigned smile, "Today already counts as the first day.
... Even though we'll have all day tomorrow, the day after tomorrow by noon, we must leave. I have to get back to work," Akemi said.
"Alright..." Wakamatsu responded while stroking the cold metal of his weapon, resigning himself.
The two men loaded their weapons and ammunition, ready to depart, while Yoshino Kasaka stayed in charge of logistics, preparing quick meals for lunch.
From the cabin in the forest, they began walking towards the mountain. There was a path that made the journey easier, so it wasn't too exhausting. However, carrying three weapons and ammunition added considerable weight. Fortunately, the three of them were in good physical condition, so they could handle it.
During the journey, Akemi began explaining the precautions when using the weapons.
"There's not much to say about the shotgun. It's mainly for show. Although this area is very remote and it's rare to encounter anyone, if by chance a mountaineer passes by, the shotgun will help keep up appearances.
The rifle and pistol are the real key points to learn.
In a heist, no one knows what unexpected situations might arise," Akemi said seriously as they walked.
"If everything goes smoothly, and we manage to take the money without resistance, that would be ideal. But if things get complicated and someone resists, then we'll have to shoot.
That's why it's crucial to learn to use the rifle and pistol now. The guards on the money transports will have no mercy."
After an hour of walking, they reached a clear area where trees had been felled.
"Well, here we are," Akemi announced.
She left the weapons and ammunition on the ground, picked up a piece of rotten wood, and walked a few meters to place it on a tree stump.
Back with the others, she took a pistol, loaded it, and began to explain:
"First, insert the magazine and slide the slide to load the bullet into the chamber. Then remove the safety.
Remember: eye, barrel, target... aligned in a straight line. Extend both arms and hold the pistol firmly. And finally, pull the trigger."
With a bang, the wood on the stump was blown away by the impact.
"Once you shoot, put the safety back on," Akemi continued, lowering the pistol with the barrel pointing to the ground. "Most importantly: it doesn't matter if the safety is on or not, never point the gun at yourself or a companion."
At that moment, Wakamatsu, curious, approached with his eyes fixed on the muzzle of his pistol as if he wanted to examine its interior.
Akemi, seeing this, reprimanded him immediately:
"Even with an unloaded gun, you don't do that! These guns are not new; they were handed over by third parties. No one can guarantee that they checked all the pistols to ensure there isn't a bullet in the chamber. If there were one and the gun fired by accident..."
Wakamatsu laughed, incredulous, "That would be a very rare case... The probability is very low. It's almost impossible. Look, I'll show you."
Saying this, he took a pistol without a magazine, pointed it at the ground, removed the safety, and pulled the trigger.
A bang echoed in the air as a flash came from the barrel. Wakamatsu turned pale instantly.
