Chapter 35: The Awestruck Sisters! Xu Hao Steals the Spotlight

Early the Next Morning—

Despite their reluctance to visit the amusement park, Xu Shiqing and Xu Huayi obediently changed into new dresses and took the time to dress up.

The sisters had always been close. Even when they quarreled, they reconciled quickly. As a result, they often bought matching outfits, differing only in color.

Today, the sisters wore knee-length dresses, paired with white over-the-knee socks, revealing delicate collarbones. Their identical, breathtakingly beautiful faces were enough to astonish anyone who laid eyes on them.

However, at the moment, both sisters stood frozen, staring ahead.

Xu Hao was waiting for them.

Since their return last night, they had noticed Xu Hao’s transformation. He looked younger, more charismatic.

No one would believe that he was a father of eight and in his fifties.

For today’s outing, Xu Hao swapped his usual formal attire for casual clothes. The shift in style softened his usual serious demeanor, giving him an approachable and refreshing air.

“Let’s go!” Xu Hao announced, leading the way to the largest entertainment complex in the city.

The Magic City Entertainment Complex was a hub of attractions, featuring everything from Disneyland-style parks to marine parks. Whatever experience one could think of, it was available here. The place saw an endless stream of visitors daily.

Upon arriving with his daughters, Xu Hao refrained from using VIP privileges. Instead, he chose to line up and buy tickets, hoping to spend more quality time with them.

Although Xu Shiqing and Xu Huayi agreed to come because Xu Hao had recently helped them, they didn’t plan on playing along with him.

Xu Hao walked ahead, while the sisters trailed behind, occasionally whispering to each other and curiously glancing around.

Having never been to an amusement park before, they were fascinated by the novelty of everything around them.

Suddenly, the sisters froze in their tracks, their gazes locked on a row of claw machines.

Several couples stood around the machines. Some fed coins into the slots and pressed the buttons, watching as the claw descended to grab a plush toy.

However, luck didn’t seem to favor most of them. Attempt after attempt ended in failure.

When someone finally managed to grab a toy, they cheered and celebrated as if they had won the lottery.

Noticing the curiosity in his daughters’ eyes, Xu Hao suggested, “That looks fun. Let’s go check it out.”

Already intrigued by the claw machines, the sisters didn’t object and followed Xu Hao to the row of machines.

The two stood by, watching others attempt to grab toys, while Xu Hao headed to the counter to buy tokens.

“Damn it! What a scam!”

Nearby, a young man cursed loudly after dozens of failed attempts to grab a single toy. He vented his frustration by banging on the machine and swearing.

Others around him chimed in.

“You’d be lucky if you actually managed to grab something. If people could win easily, how would these businesses make money?”

“These machines are rigged! The chance of grabbing something is less than 1%.”

“Don’t expect to win anything. Just think of it as a novelty.”

The group’s complaints painted a bleak picture of the claw machines, blaming the operators for being exploitative.

Suddenly, a jubilant cry broke through the crowd.

“I got one! Haha! Finally, I got one!”

The commotion drew everyone’s attention to another couple nearby.

The girl was holding a small teddy bear, jumping up and down in excitement.

Even though the toy was one of the cheapest and closest to the edge, it was enough to make her ecstatic.

It’s still better than those who didn’t win anything, right?

Xu Shiqing and Xu Huayi found the scene amusing as they stood nearby watching.

“Shiqing, Huayi, what’s the fun in just watching? Why don’t you give it a try?” Xu Hao returned, holding a basket full of tokens, and spoke to his daughters.

The sisters glanced at the basket, raised their chins slightly, and replied, “We’ll pass. We’re not going to play such childish games.”

In truth, they were itching to try, but they were too shy to use the tokens Xu Hao had purchased.

“Heh… Are you two afraid you won’t be able to grab anything?” Xu Hao taunted them.

“Who are you looking down on? Not being able to grab something?!”

“These little toys are nothing—anyone with hands can do it!” Xu Huayi immediately shot back, refusing to back down.

Ten Minutes Later—

“This machine is definitely rigged! It’s impossible to grab anything!”

Xu Huayi’s face was filled with frustration.

Even the usually composed Xu Shiqing now looked visibly upset.

In ten minutes, neither of them had managed to grab a single toy. Every time, just as the claw reached the exit, the toy would suddenly drop.

The closer they came to success, the more they wanted to keep trying.

“This time it’s going to work. Next time, I’ll definitely get it!”

With this mindset, they kept playing.

Before they realized it, the basket of tokens was almost empty.

“Let me give it a shot,” Xu Hao stepped forward.

It was time for him to shine.

He picked up a token, inserted it into the machine, and expertly operated the joystick and buttons.

In his previous life, Xu Hao had often taken girls out to play, so he was no stranger to claw machines. He wasn’t particularly good at them back then, but things were different now.

With his mastery of close combat techniques, his control over strength and precision was unparalleled. Grabbing toys from the machine was a piece of cake.

When Xu Hao inserted the token, the sisters didn’t expect anything.

They were convinced the machine was rigged. After all, they had failed over a hundred times—what chance did Xu Hao have?

But then—

The unthinkable happened.

Inside the machine, a toy was picked up by the claw, smoothly transported to the exit, and dropped outside.

Xu Huayi picked up the toy, feeling its solid weight in her hands.

No, it wasn’t an illusion.

The sisters were stunned.

And the surprises didn’t end there.

Xu Hao inserted another token, pressed the buttons, and…

One.

Two.

Three.

Five.

Ten.

By the time the basket of tokens was empty, the claw machine was completely cleared of toys.

Xu Hao stood beside the mountain of plush toys, calm and collected, while his daughters stared in awe, speechless.
