Chapter 23: Persuading Sharon

"Has the invitation letter been sent to Sharon Valura, the outcast princess of the royal family?"

Seated on a luxurious sofa, a beautiful girl around fifteen or sixteen years old gazed at the maid standing before her.

She had a flawless face, framed by blonde hair styled in elegant ringlet curls.

Her light green eyes held a mesmerizing charm, capable of captivating any noble child.

The deep red gown she wore accentuated her maturing curves perfectly.

This girl was Celine Everhart, the eldest daughter of Duke Everhart's family—renowned for her arrogance and cruelty.

Hearing her question, the maid gave a small nod and replied respectfully, "I have sent the invitation, Young Lady. However..."

A flicker of hesitation crossed her face as if she wanted to say more but held back.

Noticing this, Celine simply smiled, leaned back against the sofa, and crossed her legs.

"Are you curious why I invited her?" she asked, opening a hand fan and partially covering the lower half of her face.

The maid hesitated before nodding slowly. "That's right, Young Lady. May I ask the reason?"

Celine's lips curled into a faint smile. "Oh, it's nothing special."

A glint of cold amusement flashed in her light green eyes as she continued, "I just thought my birthday party would be far more entertaining with Sharon Valura's presence."

At the word "entertaining," the maid shuddered. As Celine's personal maid, she knew her mistress well—cruel, cunning, and utterly merciless.

Many had fallen victim to her cunning—both openly and in the shadows.

Were it not for her status as the eldest daughter of Duke Everhart, she would have long been eliminated by those who despised her.

But in this world, power and influence were the pillars of survival. No matter how much they loathed Celine, none dared to challenge her.

The party had yet to begin, but she could already envision Sharon's impending humiliation.

'She's bound to suffer,' she whispered, taking a slow, deep breath.

...

"How about this gown, Princess? Do you think it suits you?"

"Hmm… on second thought, the color is a bit too bright. It doesn't complement you well. How about this one instead?"

Standing before a wardrobe filled with elegant gowns, Arthur pulled them out one by one, trying to find the perfect match for Sharon.

Yet, for some reason, none of them seemed suitable for Celine's birthday party tonight.

Sitting on the bed, Sharon couldn't help but smile at Arthur's enthusiasm.

"Why do you look more excited than me, Aron? Am I the one attending the party, or are you?" she teased.

Arthur's hand froze mid-motion as he rummaged through the wardrobe. Turning to her, he rolled his eyes.

"Princess, I'm your personal servant. Of course, I have to make sure you look beautiful and stunning at the party," he replied nonchalantly with a shrug.

Sharon's smile faded, her expression clouded with hesitation.

"Aron… Do you really think I should go?" She asked softly, uncertainty lacing her voice.

Her relationship with Celine was tense—perhaps even outright hostile. It wasn't her choice—Celine had simply chosen to see her as an enemy.

Accepting the birthday invitation only added to her unease. A sinking feeling told her that something was bound to happen at the party.

Arthur was briefly surprised before a gentle smile formed on his lips. Placing the two gowns back into the wardrobe, he turned and walked toward her with steady steps.

"Princess, the choice is yours, not mine," he said softly, stopping just in front of her.

Reaching out, he gently stroked Sharon's head and added, "I understand your deepest worries. But as I've told you before, I will always stand by your side and protect you. I won't let anyone harm you."

"That said, I won't force you if you truly don't wish to go. After all, attending Young Lady Celine's birthday party isn't an obligation."

He paused for a moment, letting out a quiet sigh before continuing, "However, I must tell you—avoiding the problem won't make it disappear. If you choose not to go, Young Lady Celine will simply find another way to torment you. When that happens, will you be ready to face it?"

Arthur didn't want Sharon to suffer or be subjected to endless bullying. But at the same time, he didn't want her to live in fear, trapped by hesitation.

The hardships she endured were trials she needed to overcome.

Only by facing them head-on could she grow stronger—just as she would one day, when she ascended the throne as the first female ruler of the Magic Kingdom of Valdom.

Of course, Arthur wouldn't allow Sharon to become the cruel and ruthless tyrant she was destined to be in the original storyline.

After all, one of his mission objectives was to prevent that very outcome.

Sharon was left speechless by Arthur's words. She couldn't find a single argument to refute him—because everything he said was undeniably true.

Seeing her fall silent, lost in thought, Arthur chose not to interrupt. He let her process his words at her own pace.

No matter what decision she made, he would support her. However, since Celine's birthday party was an interesting moment in the storyline, he secretly hoped she would agree to attend.

That way, he could set his plan into motion—one that would make Celine regret ever mistreating Sharon.

Beyond that, he was also eager to meet Rudy Everhart, the head of the Everhart family, to discuss several important and intriguing matters.

Unconsciously, a faintly eerie smile crept onto his lips.

Meanwhile, Sharon, still carefully weighing Arthur's words, soon gathered her resolve.

Her expression gradually hardened into one of determination.

"You're right, Aron. If I keep avoiding her, Celine will never stop targeting me. So… let's go to that birthday party!"

Arthur chuckled, nodding in approval. "Good!"
