Chapter 240: He started resenting his father
Seo-Jun originally didn't plan to end his stepmother's life. He was just doing as she had instructed and was choking her, but his emotions took control, and he wished she were dead.
And by the time he came to his senses, she was dead.
He had actually killed her.
He was scared. So scared that he contemplated jumping out the window, but he was too scared to do that as well, so he made the ultimate and most difficult decision and called his father.
He confessed that he had killed his stepmother without meaning to and then showed the video.
He was prepared to be insulted and even hit since he did such a thing. He was prepared to even go to juvenile prison as well but to his surprise, his father hugged him tight, apologizing.
"I'm sorry, son. I'm so sorry."
He didn't know why his father was apologizing, but this made his heart ache even more, and he cried, holding his father he hadn't held for four years.
"I'm the reason you had to go through all this. Forgive me, son."
Since Ha-eun had all the videos, including the first video where she led Seo-Jun to the room blindfolded and made the ignorant and innocent Seo-Jun do all those things, it was clear that she was evil.
She had done this to a young boy, young enough to be her own son and she even threatened him.
How did he end up putting his child in such a situation? In the hands of something so evil.
Mister Sun covered up her death so that no one would know and no one would blame his son for anything.
If Seo-Jun hadn't killed her, he would've killed her himself.
He completely erased her and made it seem as if she never existed, freeing his son of any guilt he might be feeling.
But that was not enough to free him of the guilt and trauma.
He had killed a person, that was a fact. And he had done all those dirty things as well, another fact.
He could not go back to living a normal life.
He could not live like his life had been perfect and completely normal this whole time. Not only had his body changed, but his thought process and he began to suffer.
He suffered for a while, fighting his own thoughts and the dreams that haunted him.
He tried going for therapy but to think he would actually think of tying his therapist up because she looked like she would look good in ropes.
He was crazy. He was mad. He was anything but normal.
Then, he decided to cope. He created a mechanism that would not affect his everyday life, and instead of shoving away the tendencies that were disturbing his life, he decided to live with them and nurture them.
Slowly, he began to embrace the desires that were lurking. If he listened to others, he would break down. So, he grew deaf to others' words and followed whatever he thought was in his own best interest.
He sexualized almost everything, not because he wanted to but because he couldn't help it. If he tried to fight it, it would happen on its own and then he would start to feel fed up. So, he did not fight it and made it seem natural.
It was difficult at first, with people looking at him weirdly, but utilizing his identity as an Alpha, an heir to one of the richest men in the country, and his good looks as well, he was able to make it fit.
He was right for the role of a sadistic Casanova.
He grew arrogant but his arrogance wasn't unwarranted since he was a genius and rich too.
He had also started resenting his father. The older he grew, the more he saw that this was his father's fault.
If he hadn't neglected him, if he hadn't left him with that woman, he would've never ended up that way. He wouldn't have been a sex addict who couldn't do without harming his partner to get excited.
A few years later, his father died, leaving the company to him.
At that time, he was already acquainted with the other three but they weren't that close. They used each other for their own benefits but one who knew what was going on in the inner circle could not say they were friends.
They were rivals, in fact, all governing different industries that made the country kneel before them.
So, the story of Seo-Jun being a ruthless sadist was never his fault. He had learned to live with himself and had embraced the kind of person he was, but there were still times when he looked at people having a normal and peaceful relationship and he asked himself why he had to end up like this.
Why wasn't he normal?
Why couldn't he do without hitting his partner?
Why couldn't he do without making them feel like they were beneath him?
He was pitiful but he never wanted anyone to see his vulnerable side.
He didn't need anyone's pity and would rather people hate him than sympathize with him.
And yet... That man who hated others pity so much was looking at me with such eyes, asking for honesty and was seeming so vulnerable.
I stared into his eyes and then said,
"If it's honesty you want," I pitied his situation, especially knowing his backstory and how much of a sorry child he was but... "I'm sorry, Master but I won't be able to give it to you."
I couldn't afford to be honest.
Not at a time like this.
"Master, it's not that I don't want to be honest with you but sometimes, honesty comes with a price."
And the price I might have to pay for telling him that he was the best kisser was the dissatisfaction of my other masters.
I wanted us to live peacefully, not see each other as a competition that they needed to get rid of.
Thank God for the contract they signed, if not it would've been very chaotic.
And after recalling Seo-Jun's past, I feel so sad and even sadder that I made him go through all he went through because I was biased.
I closed my eyes and dropped my head on his shoulder.
"I know you don't want to hurt me but even if you do, I won't blame you," I whispered. "So, don't think that the world is against you. Right about now I..." My face flushed lightly. "I don't hate you. Knowing this should make you feel better, right? I hope it does."
For a moment, we were stuck in silence but I wasn't worried. Let's trust Seo-Jun a little bit more from now on.
"Jo-Pil," he called and I opened my eyes. "Let's go on that date tomorrow." He suddenly said and I smiled.
"Sure, master."
