Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Moonlight Escapade 1
A week has passed since I returned from the Crystal Empire, and outside of the usual craziness that goes on in the castle, things have been calm.
Cadance woke up, and Celestia went to the Crystal Empire to help her work on the new border issue. Leaving Luna as the Alicorn in charge.
A letter came in a few hours ago, detailing how tens of different Pinkie Pies were causing havoc in Ponyville, but that's just another regular occurrence for them so Luna sent a few guards to make sure nobody got too hurt before we all decided to ignore them.
"Something is wrong, I can feel it..." I whispered to myself as I looked out the window of my room, a chill crawling up my spine.
"No you can't, You're just anxious because you're so used to bad things happening once a week, that now that the week is coming to a close, you're waiting for the bad thing to happen." Macaw told me, his ghostly figure leaning back on my chair.
"I don't want to hear a word from you, you're not real," I told the Scarlet Macaw Harpy, my eyes still staring at the horizon, watching the sun make its way down towards a mountain ridge in the distance as the late afternoon started to turn to evening.
Minutes passed as I looked at the setting sun, waiting for something to inevitably happen and ruin my week.
I'm not anxious, Macaw is wrong, as he always is!
As I watched the setting sun, my eyes briefly flickered to look at Comet, her body resting at the foot of my bed, her tail already in the process of regrowing following our scrap with Sombra.
"Friend Blueblood, Open up!"
If somebody told you that I slammed my leg into the wall as I instinctively kicked following the loud and sudden knocking at my door, somebody lied to you. I merely stubbed my toe.
"You don't have toes~"
"Shut up Macaw!" I whispered harshly at the figment of my imagination before I moved to open the door, a scowl on my face, not at all correlated with my now aching hoof.
I opened the door with a weak pull of magic, finding myself face-to-face with a surprisingly excited Princess Luna.
"We are going out for the night!" The Alicorn of the Night shouted at my face, her eyes brimming with an emotion that I had trouble placing.
"You are? Well, thank you for notifying us," I told her, smiling calmly as I ignored her invasion of my private space, putting on my official diplomatic tone, the one I use when I'm on the job, "I will make sure the Nation is kept running while you go out and enjoy yourself~" I had to stop myself from smiling widely at the Princess's words.
With Celestia currently in the Crystal Empire, that left Luna as the highest authority in Equestria. And with Luna ending her work early and leaving the castle, that would make Cadance the highest Authority, and since Cadance is also in the Crystal Empire, that leaves none other than myself as the current highest authority in Equestria.
Number One~
I was already in the process of walking out of the door and on the way to the Throne Room, Not for any particular reason, when Luna spoke up
"Oh no, we didn't mean We as in the royal we, we meant We as in you and us," Luna's words almost caused me to stumble as I momentarily lost balance.
"W- What do you mean by that?" I turned around and asked Luna, worry starting to creep up my spine as I watched her eyes smiling at me.
"We have already told Raven Inkwell to take care of duties in our stead," Luna explained, "Now you and we will be going out to enjoy the nightlife of Canterlot!"
"Still anxious about what could go wrong?"
MACAW I SWEAR TO GOD-
--------------------------------------------------
Prince Blueblood sat on the floor of Princess Luna's room, his eyes flickering to the open door leading to the balcony with the telescope, and to the sight of the orange sky slowly turning a dark blue.
"We have arrived at the conclusion, after many days and nights of mulling it over, that we do not know the city we live in as well as we may like." Luna said as she looked herself over in a standing mirror, making sure her makeup was still okay, "And so we decided that we will venture into Canterlot, and see what our very own hometown has to offer us~"
"You want the real Canterlot experience?" Blueblood asked as he turned to stare at Luna's reflection in the mirror.
"Of course! By getting to know our city, we'll be able to better know our subjects," Luna explained simply, "By the way, does this dress make our hips look large?"
"Ignore the dress," Blueblood said, not answering the question, "If you want the real Canterlot Experience, you're not going to get it going out as yourself." His horn started to glow with light blue magic.
"What do you-" Luna turned away from the mirror to stare at the Prince, only to pause as she watched the Prince's mane change from his wavy golden locks to a shorter steel-blue cut, with the mane seemingly changing to look closer to the head feather's of a bird.
His Cutie Mark shimmered as the illusion he cast hid it from the world, replacing it with the image of a bird diving into a pond.
"To get the real Canterlot experience, you're going to need to look like just another random pony." The Prince, now under a disguise, told her.
As he sat on the floor, Prince Blueblood kept his face as blank as he could, mostly to ignore the smug look the imaginary ghost of a parrot harpy was giving him.
If he didn't acknowledge it, it'd be much easier to ignore its existence.
"Ooh~ We're going undercover!" Luna said cheerfully, oblivious to the struggle the Prince was having with not punching the face of a figment of his imagination.
With a flash of dark blue magic from her horn, Princess Luna's body shimmered as an illusion was cast over it.
Her horn disappeared, and her wavy mist-like sapphire blue mane turned into shorter grayish-blue locks, her coat brightening in color as it turned into a lighter shade of blue.
"Don't forget to change you're Cutie-Mark," Blueblood reminded her.
"Oh, right." Luna turned to look at her flank, her eyes narrowing as the black background of the night on her Cutie Mark disappeared, leaving only the crescent moon in its place.
"And what name will you be going by?"
"Luna-" Luna paused and corrected herself, "We mean, Lunar..." Her eyes roamed around her room, before locking onto the open balcony window, "-Scope, Lunar Scope."
Blueblood tiredly turned to look at the balcony, and at the telescope that stood there.
"Gee, I wonder where you got the idea for that name from..." He said tiredly before releasing a sigh, "Very well, Lunar Scope, My name is Kingfisher." He gave her a short bow, "What plans do we have for tonight?"
"There's a street called Restaurant Row that we would like to visit and check out, followed by a walk in the public park~" The Princess, now disguised as her younger self from before her power returned to her, told Blueblood.
"Very well then, will we be taking any guards with us?"
Luna licked her lips for a moment as she thought the question over, "No~ We want the real Canterlot experience, can't have guards tailing after us and ruining the night," She smiled at those words before quickly snaking her leg under the Princess armpit and hooking on his elbow, "Now, let us go friend Bluebloo- We mean, Friend Kingfisher! The night is still young!"
"Very well..." Kingfisher said, his mind traveling to imagine how it would feel like to sit on the royal throne one more time before he stared into the younger Luna's eyes, "Ladies first~" he motioned for the door to her room.
"Oh no, We're not taking the door!" Lunar Scope smiled cheekily.
"What-" And with a blast of blue magic escaping from an invisible horn, Princess Luna teleported them out of the castle.
-----------------------------------------------------
Later that evening, Princess Luna's guards would enter the room to check up on her, only to find the balcony open, her books strewn onto the ground, and her closet open, clothes thrown onto the floor. Causing them to open an investigation for a missing Princess.
But that is a story for another time.
