Trillionaire's Slice of Life
Chapter 383: Li Fei's Top-notch Connections
Chu Mo found Ding Qian's phone number and dialed it casually. The phone rang a few times before the call was answered, but it wasn't Ding Qian's melodious voice coming through the line. Instead, it was a female voice, slightly cautious and tense.
"You must be looking for Miss Ding, I'm terribly sorry, but right now Miss Ding is at the TV station recording a very important program. So, I am in charge of her phone at the moment, oh that's right, I am Miss Ding's assistant, my name is Xiao Miao! If you have any matters to discuss, you can tell me, and I will find a way to pass the message on to Miss Ding!"
Chu Mo shook his head with a hint of regret, but since he had called Ding Qian on a whim without anything pressing, he greeted the assistant and then hung up the phone straight away.
Meanwhile, Ding Qian's song had finished playing in the coffee shop, and now soft background music was floating out of the speakers.
The waiter brought over the coffee. As Chu Mo gently picked up his coffee to taste, he suddenly felt a gaze fixated on him. Turning his head, he saw a woman in a green trench coat at a window-side table, staring straight at him.
Chu Mo took a longer look at her, not because of her appearance but simply because she was sitting in what used to be his favorite spot.
His gaze swept over her briefly before he turned to look outside the window; however, despite the comings and goings, his buddy Li Fei was nowhere to be seen.
Chu Mo lifted his wrist to check the time. The top-tier wristwatch, valued at over a hundred million and adorned with hundreds of premium diamonds, looked incredibly lavish. The hour hand was just pointing to three o'clock, which was also the time the two had agreed to meet.
Thinking of Capital City's congested traffic situation and considering Li Fei was coming from a further distance, he decided not to dwell on it any longer.
As time ticked by, Chu Mo found his spirits unusually relaxed. Perhaps it was the familiarity of the coffee shop or the tranquil and peaceful atmosphere that evoked his feelings, but he suddenly felt an urge to pick up a pen and write.
Unfortunately, he had not brought his notebook with him, and now even if he had the inspiration, he couldn't jot it down.
"Chu Mo's Short Story Collection 2," nearly all his remaining short stories were included. Now, what was left were just a few dozen average-quality drafts. Even if he wanted to publish more books, he would probably have to start writing anew, and it might take at least a few years for "Short Story Collection 3" to be published... Starting today, I need to pick up the hobbies I've discarded.
Otherwise, every day is just revelry, meaningless and wasted!
Chu Mo muttered to himself as he sipped his coffee and noticed that, besides the woman in the trench coat by the window, there were at least four or five other gazes on him in the coffee shop. However, all these looks were from women, so he figured he shouldn't have any safety concerns.
He waited quietly until, about twenty minutes later, a tall figure finally appeared at the entrance of the coffee shop.
When he saw Li Fei, Chu Mo immediately waved to signal him. His buddy, who had been looking around, quickly strode over and, after sitting down, apologized:
"Sorry about that, the traffic was really terrible!"
Chu Mo waved his hand to indicate it wasn't a big deal and then, as the waiter came over, Li Fei ordered a latte. Chu Mo then laughed and said,
"So how is it, enjoying married life?"
Li Fei, with his buzz cut looking sharp, heaved a heavy sigh and said with a dejected face:
"Eh, it's so-so, not especially good, but not especially bad either. It's just different from the romance I imagined. When we were dating, thinking about being clingy together every day seemed so blissful. Now that we're sharing the same bed, I sometimes miss the freedom of being single!"
Chu Mo glanced at Li Fei's faint dark circles and teased him:
"Are you being forced to fulfill your marital duties every day? You've got dark circles, my friend, and at such a young age. You need to take care of your health. Should I send you some ginseng and deer antler to help you out?"
At Chu Mo's words, Li Fei immediately retorted with a straight face:
"Knock it off, you're the one who can't keep up. I have only Xiao Hui, unlike some people who have a flock around them, not to mention how many beauties you've hidden away in your golden house. Oh right, I've never had the chance to ask you, those bridesmaids at my wedding, tell me the truth, how many did you manage to hook up with?"
Chu Mo knew he was referring to the eight female attendants from Tianxiang Garden. Truth be told, he hadn't really managed to hook up with many of them.
Apart from Yu, who attended university in Capital City, and Qiu Shui, who went to Dubai to manage a project, eden his personal secretary Xia Xue and Qiu Shui, who was the most beautiful and managed the work at Longevity Club, he hadn't touched. So strictly speaking, Chu Mo had only been involved with two out of the eight.
There was no need to hide anything from his close friend Li Fei; they had lived and eaten together during their university days, and Li Fei had even seen the moles on his body in the bathhouse. Being secretive would only distance their relationship.
Hence, without anything to hide, Chu Mo held up two fingers and said with a laugh:
"Two of them, the other six are in the development stage!"
As his casual words ended, Li Fei immediately showed a look of envy. The bridesmaids Chu Mo had chosen were ones Li Fei had observed closely, and in terms of beauty and figure, they were no less than the top-tier celebrities on TV.
Any one of those women would be considered goddesses whom countless men would adore, and to have eight of them gathered around Chu Mo was something many people would willingly die for after experiencing just one day.
