Troublemaker’s Guide to Immortality

Chapter 79: Tears Bring No Blessings

"These three manuals were written specifically for beginner spirit planters," Elder Ming explained.

He pointed to each one in turn.

—"Minor Cloud-Rain Technique – Summons light rain to slightly accelerate plant growth. Water attribute required."

—"Earth Control Technique – Adjusts soil conditions to perfectly suit spirit plants. Earth attribute required."

—"Insect-Slaying Finger – Eliminates pests without harming the plants. Metal attribute required."

"Normally, planting masters specialize in one or two techniques based on their spiritual roots. But since you're all-elemental, you can learn them all."

Still, Elder Ming cautioned her: "Xiao Jin, I know you mean well, but becoming a planting master isn't easy. Your true talent lies in creating techniques—don't waste time on side pursuits."

Yun Jin smiled inwardly.

Oh, if only he knew just how many talents she had.

But she appreciated his concern.

"Elder Ming, I'll just give it a try. If it doesn't work out, I won't force it," she said sweetly.

Elder Ming's face softened with approval.

Next, he produced two pill recipes:

"Alchemy recipes are rare—the Scripture Pavilion only has a few. These two are for low-tier spirit beasts."

—"Spirit-Heart Pill – Boosts cultivation for beasts below Foundation Establishment."

—"Soul-Stabilizing Pill – Rarely used. Calms spiritually traumatized beasts."

"Recipes are expensive—each costs at least 200 contribution points.* Are you sure?"*

"Buy them!" Yun Jin didn't hesitate.

The Spirit-Heart Pill was a must for leveling up Gun Gun.

As for the Soul-Stabilizing Pill? Better to have it and not need it.

"The planting manuals are cheap, just 100 points each. So the total would be 700 points," Elder Ming added.

Yun Jin didn't even flinch. She handed over her disciple token and let Elder Ming deduct the points.

After the exchange, Yun Jin lingered, hoping to chat longer.

But Elder Ming only chuckled. "Go on. Study these well. Come see this old man again once you have time."

With that, Yun Jin took her leave.

On the way back, she instructed the system to scan and archive the new techniques and alchemy recipes.

They were all relatively low-tier, so with just a few simplification tokens, she had them refined to her satisfaction.

Perfect. Time to test them out in the field.

When she returned to Tianjian Peak, she heard loud thuds from a distance.

Gun Gun, her little iron-eating beast, was headbutting trees again.

When she arrived, she saw a row of spirit trees had been knocked over. Several were lying flat on the ground.

Beside them stood Gu Jinghong, pale as a ghost.

Yun Jin frowned. "What's with the long face? You're a grown man! Crying like that is going to chase all the good fortune away from Tianjian Peak!"

Gu Jinghong: "…"

He couldn't help but complain. "The iron-eater said I had to stand by the trees so it could practice its aim—but it has no aim! It's missed five or six times, and at least once it crashes straight into me!"

Even though it was just a small beast in the Qi Condensation stage, getting hit full-force still hurt, okay?

"Oh?" Yun Jin raised a brow at the iron-eater. "Was that your idea?"

Gun Gun looked embarrassed and was just about to say it wouldn't do it again when Yun Jin gave a big thumbs up.

"Brilliant idea!"

"Enough," Yun Jin said with clear disdain, glancing at Gu Jinghong. "I've got a new task for you."

Gu Jinghong perked up a little. "What is it?"

"You've probably done your homework on me, haven't you? Remember how your senior brother sent five disciples to test my swordsmanship talent?"

Gu Jinghong nodded, feeling a wave of regret. He definitely remembered.

Yun Jin smiled faintly. "I suddenly miss those five brothers and their swordplay, but I'm too lazy to visit them myself. So you, my loyal servant, Gu Jinghong, will go in my place."

Gu Jinghong stared blankly.

Was she serious?

She wanted to watch them practice swordplay, but made him go watch it for her?

How was that even supposed to work?

"You got a problem with that?" Yun Jin's smile vanished, replaced by a sharp, dangerous gaze.

"No problem at all!" Gu Jinghong responded instantly.

Yun Jin's smile returned. "Good. Then get moving. Today, I want each of them to practice at least one hundred repetitions of their sword forms. Make sure they do it. Understood?"

Gu Jinghong: "…"

In that moment, he understood Yun Jin's true intention.

She was still holding a grudge from earlier, and now she was just finding new ways to torment them.

But as the saying goes:

"Better they suffer than me."

So off he marched.

Yun Jin nodded in satisfaction. With Gu Jinghong's infamous reputation, this task would be child's play.

This was called putting the right person in the right position.

"The right man for the right job," she mused. Back in the mortal world, someone like him would've been perfect for a debt collection agency. He'd make every target pay up in full.

"Master, now that he's gone, I'm bored again," Gun Gun clung to her leg, whining.

"Never mind him for now," Yun Jin said. "That incantation I taught you, it's working, right? Your skill level is almost at three stars already."

Gun Gun lit up with excitement, nodding enthusiastically. It even flexed its little arms, eager to show off its nonexistent muscles.

Yun Jin patted its head. "Keep practicing that one. Next, I'll teach you how to improve your Roar skill. This time it's a mental chant. Repeat it in your heart."

Gun Gun perked up its ears.

Yun Jin recited slowly, "Hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, oxygen, fluorine…"

Once she was done, she looked serious. "Memorize that and let out a full-powered roar at least one hundred times a day. Got it?"

"I didn't catch all of it, Master! Please teach it again!" Gun Gun cried.

Yun Jin had the patience of a saint. She repeated it eight times until Gun Gun could recite it perfectly.

As she walked away, the sounds of Gun Gun's fierce roaring echoed behind her.

Yun Jin nodded approvingly.

"What a spirited little beast."

Meanwhile, in the Tianxing Sect…

A disciple trembled as Gu Jinghong loomed over him.

"S-Senior Brother Gu… c-can I help you?"

After all, Gu Jinghong had suffered terribly under Yun Jin, becoming her servant. Who knew what unspeakable tortures he'd endured?

Maybe it had driven him mad.

The poor disciple was delicate—he wouldn't survive being "disciplined" by a twisted Gu Jinghong.

Without a word, Gu Jinghong grabbed him by the collar and dragged him off in search of the next person.

When he found another, he linked the two together, then moved on again.

By the time he reached the fifth, he was dragging a line of four terrified disciples like a human chain.

His expression was cold. His gaze sharp enough to kill.
