twd: the last silence

Chapter 49: Chapter 48

Chapter 48

The Nomads had a deal with the Saviors.

It started long before Axel ever came.

A simple deal—

Food, water, supplies…

And in return, the Saviors wouldn't kill them all.

That was the deal.

That was the rule.

.

But not anymore.

Two days ago…

Axel came.

And everything changed.

The hive is empty now.

No more people.

No more guards.

No more Nomads.

Because Redd listened.

He heard Axel's words.

> "Take everything and go. Don't look back."

And so they ran.

All of them.

The women.

The children.

They followed Redd.

They followed the fear.

But Axel…

He didn't leave.

Because Axel was gone.

What remained—

Was wrath.

Not rage.

Not hate.

Not fury.

Pure.

Unstoppable.

Wrath.

The kind that doesn't scream.

The kind that doesn't roar.

The kind that just… acts.

And it was all for one person.

Alice.

The woman who killed his parents.

Who tore apart his little brother.

She was the reason.

So Axel took her.

Dragged her broken, bleeding body to her house.

The center of the hive.

Her throne.

And for two days—

He didn't kill her.

No.

He made her live.

He made her remember.

Torture.

Not random.

Not blind.

Precise.

Slow.

Intentional.

Two days.

No food.

No rest.

No light.

Only screams.

Until the third day came.

And with it…

The Saviors.

A small group arrived.

As planned.

To collect the supplies promised by the Nomads.

But when they got there—

They saw nothing.

No Nomads.

No hive.

No Alice.

No supplies.

Only silence.

Only blood.

Only the aftermath of something they didn't understand.

They didn't speak.

They didn't go inside.

They just stood at the gates.

And felt it.

The wrath that still lingered.

And they knew—

Someone had broken the deal.

And someone else… made them pay for it.

--

Simon.

Right hand of Negan.

Trusted. Feared.

Obeyed.

Negan—

The leader of the Saviors.

The man who ruled with a bat and a grin.

He had deals across every stretch of the land.

Towns. Hives. Villages. Outposts.

And the Nomads?

They were just one of many.

But even so—

Simon always chose to come here.

Every month.

When Negan sent his men to collect…

Simon volunteered.

No one questioned it.

Why would they?

But the truth—

The real reason?

It was Alice.

Alice, the leader of the Nomads.

Alice, who no one would suspect.

Alice… who Simon loved.

They kept it secret.

Hidden.

Quiet.

Just stolen nights and hushed promises beneath the ruins of the world.

Today was like all the others.

Simon rode in with five men behind him.

Joking. Laughing.

Ready to collect.

But when they reached the Nomads hive—

Silence.

No guards.

No doors.

No smoke from cooking fires.

No footsteps.

No voices.

Just wind.

And ash.

And blood.

The gates were wide open.

The walls broken.

The towers—gone.

Simon stepped down from the truck.

Slow.

Cautious.

"What the hell…?" one of the men whispered.

And then—

A scream.

A woman's scream.

It came from deep inside the hive.

From the largest house.

Alice's house.

Simon froze.

He knew that voice.

Alice.

Another scream.

Hoarse. Raw.

Shattered.

He ran.

Didn't wait.

Didn't speak.

Just ran.

Because something was wrong.

Terribly wrong.

And somewhere in the back of his mind—

Fear crept in.

Not for himself.

Not even for the Nomads.

But for Alice.

Because whatever did this—

Wasn't human.

And it was still here.
