Twilight: blood & brimstone

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: The Becoming

The air here wasn't air.

Not like the air in Forks, heavy with rain and pine.

This air was alive.

It pressed against Bella's skin, slithered into her lungs, curled around her like unseen fingers, whispering things she didn't understand—but felt.

She was meant to be here.

She could feel it in her bones.

In her blood.

The demon stood beside her, silent but ever-present, watching her adjust.

And she was.

The part of her that had clung to humanity—to the small, fragile life she had once known—had already started to crumble.

And she wasn't afraid.

She was ready.

The World That Was Always Meant to Be Hers

The landscape stretched endlessly, a world between worlds, filled with towering structures that defied gravity, with skies that shifted between twilight and something darker.

There was no sun.

No moon.

Only a deep, endless sky, scattered with stars that weren't stars at all.

This was his domain.

And now—

It was hers too.

The demon walked ahead, and Bella followed, her steps light, effortless, as if she had always belonged to this place.

He led her to the center of it all—to a throne of obsidian and bone, towering over the landscape like it had always been waiting for her.

Bella exhaled.

A single thought pressed into her mind—

'Sit.'

She hesitated.

Not out of fear.

But because she knew—

Once she sat, there was no going back.

No hesitation.

No more Bella Swan, human girl in love with a vampire.

That girl was gone.

This was the moment she became.

The demon stood beside the throne, watching her with eyes that held the weight of eternity.

"You're ready," he murmured.

Bella swallowed.

And then—

She sat.

The First Shatter

The second her body met the throne, the world cracked.

A fissure in the air itself, a rip in the fabric of what had been holding her back.

Bella gasped—

And the darkness rushed in.

It flooded her veins, burned through her like liquid fire, like something old had finally been freed.

She arched back, fingers gripping the throne as the power inside her awoke.

It wasn't painful.

It was right.

Like breathing for the first time.

The demon chuckled, low and satisfied. "There you are."

Bella's breathing slowed.

She opened her eyes—

And the world trembled.

Because she wasn't just Bella anymore.

She was something more.

Something that had been waiting to wake up for a long, long time.

She met the demon's gaze, her lips curving into a slow, knowing smile.

"What now?"

The demon grinned.

"Now, my queen—"

He stepped closer, voice a whisper of promise and possession.

"We remake the world."
