Chapter 210: Chapter 210: The Crazed Null_Face Leader
On their way back to the organization, the members who had just completed their mission chatted and laughed, paying no mind to the passersby around them.
"Hey, what do you think the expressions on their faces will be like when Hollow Special Operations Section 6 is wiped out by us Null_Face? Must be pretty entertaining."
"Heh, Section 6 is nothing. I heard from the boss—our ultimate target isn't them. It's Uchiha."
"Uchiha… are you serious? That guy can solo even the colossal Ethereals."
"So what? Wasn't Section 6 also out of our league before?"
Their casual banter continued until they slipped into a building at the corner of the street—one of their temporary bases set up specifically to avoid leading anyone to their headquarters.
According to protocol, they would remain here for half a day to ensure they weren't being tailed before heading back to Null_Face's base. With the mission now successfully completed, rewards awaited them, and so would a steep rise in rank within the organization.
That kind of prestige would set them up for a promising future. In a place like New Eridu, wealth was reserved for those with bold ambition.
Unfortunately for them, everything changed with Zhong Yan's arrival.
At first, they noticed nothing unusual—until time passed, and one of them began to sense something off. The world around him was subtly warping.
A second later, a muffled crack of thunder exploded in his ears. When he came to, he found his comrades unconscious on the floor.
He was the only one still conscious, held tightly in Zhong Yan's grasp as the latter read through his memories.
When he was done, Zhong Yan tossed him aside like discarded trash.
Then, Zhong Yan turned his gaze toward him.
Only now did the man realize—he couldn't move. It felt like some force had locked him in place. All he could do was watch as Zhong Yan approached.
Underneath that mask, a pair of lotus-like scarlet eyes glowed with intensity. As the man looked into them, his awareness slipped away—until his eyes closed for good.
…
With those Null_Face agents dealt with, Zhong Yan had acquired all the intel he needed.
Among the memories he read was the exact location of Null_Face's headquarters. Without hesitation, he activated Kamui and vanished from the scene.
Meanwhile, at Null_Face's base, their leader was lost in his own triumph, oblivious to the disaster approaching.
"Ha! Hollow Special Operations Section 6? New Eridu's so-called elite? Void Hunters? Look how easily I've cornered them! Even that woman who posed a threat to me—I personally forced her out!"
His twisted smile spread across his face as he turned to address the figures still trapped in the virtual world.
"Stop your pointless resistance. Your deaths will become the foundation of our greatest achievement. When the new order rises, I won't forget what you've given us."
Within the simulation, Miyabi—eyes narrowed—looked skyward. There, staring back at her, was a greed-filled eye locked onto her every move.
Flanking her were two agile Bangboo combat units, helping fend off the relentless flood of virtual monsters.
But these weren't just machines—they were her comrades from Hollow Special Operations Section 6: Asaba Harumasa and Soukaku.
The reason for their transformation was horrifyingly simple—their combat data had already been extracted by Null_Face, stripping them of most of their combat abilities.
Once Miyabi's data was also extracted, and she was transformed into a Bangboo, it would mark the end of the three.
Dying in the simulation meant their consciousness would never return. Permanent death.
"Chief, what now? If this keeps up, you'll end up like us," said Yuuma_Bu, kicking away a monster as exhaustion began to seep into his voice. He looked helplessly toward Yanagi.
Earlier, they'd nearly reached the exit of the simulation. But to their dismay, their strategist—Tsukishiro Yanagi—had been forcefully ejected from the simulation by Null_Face.
Now the three were trapped without guidance, unable to escape.
"At the very least… Yanagi is still out there. She'll avenge us. I just wish I'd passed on my final message to her," said Miyabi, expressionless, as she unleashed a sweeping sword slash. The resulting surge of energy ripped through waves of monsters like a tsunami.
But there were too many. An endless tide. Unless the mastermind showed himself, there was no hope of overcoming them all.
With over half of Miyabi's data already extracted, the leader of Null_Face was lost in frenzy, laughing wildly at what he saw as impending victory.
His madness shocked the subordinates around him. They didn't understand why their boss obsessed so much over reputation.
Things had been fine when they kept a low profile—they'd accumulated wealth steadily. Why risk it all by picking a fight with Section 6?
Still, the mission had gone well. Taking out Section 6 would be a feather in their cap.
No one noticed the faint vortex forming in the space behind them.
In the next instant, a hand reached out from within the vortex and pulled one of the subordinates inside.
It happened so fast and so silently that no one else noticed.
Until one man sensed something was off. He turned around—and found himself face-to-face with Zhong Yan, emerging from the Kamui space.
Before he could even scream, the Sharingan illusion struck. He collapsed instantly, unconscious.
The noise drew everyone's attention—but it was already too late.
With a flash of hand signs, Zhong Yan summoned a surge of crackling blue-white lightning that poured through the entire Null_Face base like a flood of unrestrained energy.
Screams tore through the air as the current raged—announcing their end.
