Chapter 4: Much Needed Respite
"Yeah, finally! That's the good stuff." I sighed in satisfaction as I tore into the roasted meat, the rich, smoky aroma filling my senses. "Haah… this tastes quite good even without any spices or seasoning."
Sitting near a tree stump, I let myself enjoy the warmth of the small fire flickering beside me. The meal was simple but well-earned after a long day of work. The fatigue in my body was noticeable, but I ignored it for now. There was still something important to check.
I glanced toward the small clearing where my wood-cutter minion had been tirelessly working. "I should check on that guy. I think it should be good to evolve now… and maybe, just maybe, I'll get some unexpected surprises."
Excitement buzzed through me as I opened up the tab.
[Minion Menu]
HP: 100
Energy: Slightly Low
EXP: 10/10 (+)
Status: Moderately Tired
"Nice. Let's evolve it."
I tapped the plus sign.
A familiar lightshow began. Glowing sigils flickered into existence, dancing and shifting in the air like ancient runes. The minion's body trembled, breaking down into shimmering particles before reforming in a more refined shape.
As quickly as it began, it was over.
Now standing in front of me was the newly evolved Tier-2 Wood-cutter Minion. Its appearance had changed noticeably—it was bulkier, sturdier, with a deep green tree emblem glowing atop its head. Its facial features, previously nothing more than an expressionless emoji, had now developed somewhat robotic yet pleasing eyes and a curved mouth, giving it an almost lifelike quality.
The crude hatchet it once wielded had been replaced with a larger, sturdier tool, still resembling an axe but reinforced with metal plating and a sharper edge. Another notable addition was a small pouch attached to its waist, seemingly designed for carrying something.
[Congratulations! First Minion Evolution Achieved]

[You have received a New Minion Type]
[Builder Minion Available for Construction]
"Yes!" I clenched my fist in triumph. "I knew it! The builder minion is finally unlocked. If my guess is right, this is going to help me with construction… which means I might finally have a way to build that house!"
With renewed enthusiasm, I turned my attention back to the wood-cutter minion's updated stats.
[Minion Menu]
Tier: 2
HP: 350
Energy: Full
EXP: 0/70
Status: Perfect
[New Ability: Reforestation]
The Wood-cutter Minion can now replant trees using the seeds stored in its pouch.
For every one tree cut down, it can replant three more, ensuring sustainability.
Planted trees will grow five times faster than normal.
I nodded in approval. "That's not a bad upgrade at all. In fact, this could be incredibly useful in the long run. Now, let's see what's needed for the new minion."
I switched to the Minion Construction Tab to check the requirements.
[Builder Minion - Required Materials]
Wood × 5
Stone × 5
Leather × 3
Monster Core × 1
"Hmm… I should have most of this stuff already. Good thing I didn't waste my only monster core earlier."
Gathering the required materials, I initiated the construction process. A few moments later, the Builder Minion materialized before me.
At first glance, it looked like all the other Tier-1 minions—6ft Tall and humanoid in shape.
However, its key differences were immediately noticeable. It had a hammer in one hand and a wrench in the other, along with a tool belt strapped securely around its waist, giving it a somewhat comical appearance.
Now, time to confirm its capabilities.
[Builder Minion Functions]
Can construct various structures using blueprints.
Can repair existing buildings, machines, and objects.
Can rebuild destroyed objects and handle complex construction work.
Note: This minion has no combat abilities.
"Alright, let's put you to work!"
I retrieved the house blueprint I had acquired earlier and handed it over to the Builder Minion. As soon as it analyzed the document, a notification appeared.
[Builder Minion has learned Blueprint]
[Automatically transfer resources to Builder Minion?]
(Y/N)
I clicked Yes without hesitation.
To my relief, it seemed I wouldn't need to manually provide anything beyond the base materials like wood and stone. The Builder Minion would handle everything else on its own, modifying and assembling the necessary parts as required.
Another notification appeared, detailing the deducted resources.
I quickly checked my inventory to see what I had left.
[Inventory Tab]
Wood × 60
Leaves × 250
Mutated Apple × 3
Stone × 40
Unrefined Iron Ore × 6
Quartz × 2
Mica × 3
"Not bad. I still have a decent amount of base materials left."
I considered my next steps. The unrefined iron ore in my inventory had been sitting there for a while—perhaps I should find a way to smelt and use it. The Quartz and Mica, on the other hand, might be better off sold for credits.
For now, I turned my focus back to the Builder Minion.
The house construction had already begun. The process was almost surreal—it looked pixelated, like an object being rendered into existence piece by piece. Planks, beams, and panels slotted into place rapidly, as if guided by an unseen force.
At this rate, it wouldn't take more than half an hour before it was fully built.
It wasn't anything fancy—just a simple wooden structure with a table, a chair, and a basic bed made from tightly bound leaves. But compared to spending a night on tree stumps?
"Ah well, can't complain." I smirked, stretching my arms. "Starting with basically nothing and already having a house is a damn miracle."
The sky was slowly darkening. Night would fall soon, but thankfully, I had a roof over my head now.
I issued my next set of commands:
Recall the Miner and Wood-cutter Minions to rest.
Assign the Warrior Minions to patrol around the house.
With everything set, I sat down and checked the final resource tally for the day.
[Inventory Tab]
Wood × 140
Leaves × 270
Mutated Apple × 2
Stone × 80
Unrefined Iron Ore × 11
Quartz × 5
Mica × 3
"Good progress."
Tomorrow, I'd hunt more beasts to gather additional Monster Cores. Expanding my army of minions would be key to securing long-term survival. If things go well, I could establish a self-sufficient colony soon without me having to do everything manually.
I let out a deep breath.
"Just gotta work hard in the beginning… after that, it should be smooth sailing." My lips curled into a small grin. "I don't know who brought me into this world, and I don't care anymore. What matters is… I'll have the last laugh."
With that final thought, I laid down on my makeshift bed, allowing exhaustion to finally claim me.
For the first time since arriving in this world, I felt truly at ease completely relaxed, now this is living well not the dream life but hopefully i can make it better from here on.
