Chapter 355: Continuous Cuts and Gains
Chapter Three Hundred and Fifty-Five
"I'm not crazy, I'm selecting raw stones. It'll be done in a moment; just wait a little longer," Xiaoshan said, releasing Song Yi's hand.
Song Yi was nearly driven mad with frustration, uncertain whether he was doing this on purpose or was truly beyond help, and said, "You're still picking? Why do you want so many worthless stones? Could there really be jade inside them?"
"Yes, I think they might contain jade," Xiaoshan replied and picked up another raw stone as big as a washbasin and set it aside.
Feng Shaokang certainly wouldn't let Song Yi spoil his plans and quickly praised, "Young brother, you have a good eye. These raw stones are promising; maybe you'll become a billionaire in just a while."
"Then thanks for your kind words," Xiaoshan responded with a cheerful laugh.
Song Yi, seeing Xiaoshan so foolishly thanking Feng Shaokang, didn't even know what to say. Bai Susu walked over and whispered to her, "Don't worry too much."
Although she didn't know about Xiaoshan's clairvoyance,
she was certain that Xiaoshan was no ordinary person; her faith in Xiaoshan was much stronger than Song Yi's.
"I don't care about you guys," said Song Yi impatiently and walked aside.
She now felt that coming out with Xiaoshan had been a mistake.
After another ten minutes or so, Xiaoshan had selected over a hundred raw stones before stopping.
This was definitely a grand gesture; after all, these raw stones weren't cheap. Feng Shaokang was somewhat correct—his stones indeed came from the Myanmar Old Pit, though they had been through several hands on the way, and the good ones were mostly picked over.
Of course, even these several-time selected stones weren't something just anyone could get; in Hechuan City, only he, Feng Shaokang, had the ability to acquire them.
The raw stones Xiaoshan selected varied in size and thus in price.
The cheapest were a few thousand yuan apiece, and the most expensive were worth several hundred thousand.
"Young brother, I've done the math for you. All these added up to eight million three hundred thousand. Seeing as it's your first time here, I'll round down to eight million for you—isn't that generous?" Feng Shaokang said with a smile.
"Sure, eight million it is then. Let's make the payment," Xiaoshan quickly produced a card.
Seeing Xiaoshan really going through with the payment, Song Yi turned away in anger.
Feng Shaokang hadn't expected Xiaoshan to have so much money.
Being able to casually fork out eight million, could it be an allowance given to him by Song Yi?
But then again, the young man might not be as simple as he appeared. After all, if he were just a working-class guy, Feng Shaokang wouldn't believe a proud woman like Song Yi would fancy him.
But whatever his background was,
today's eight million was already in his pocket.
Eight million! Although Feng Shaokang's business was not insignificant, this amount was certainly a large deal for him. Most pleasing of all was getting one over on Xiaoshan—seeing the woman he desired end up with Xiaoshan, if he didn't get back at him, who would he get back at?
In Seajade Pavilion, it was nearly unheard of for anyone to gamble on eight million worth of raw stones in a single go, especially since Hechuan was but a small Earth Level city.
Seeing Xiaoshan finalizing the payment,
the surrounding stone gamblers focused their attention on him, faces filled with excitement.
"Young brother! That's quite a bold move," the Stone-Cutting Master commented with a smile.
"Just playing around," Xiaoshan said, having paid and then asking the Seajade Pavilion staff to move those stones over.
"Young brother, are you going to have the stones cut right here?" the Stone-Cutting Master inquired again.
"Yes, cut them right now," Xiaoshan confirmed, handing over a raw stone.
Seeing Xiaoshan start to get the stones cut immediately after buying so many, the crowd became even more enthusiastic.
Just as the Stone-Cutting Master was about to start, Xiaoshan suddenly instructed, "Wait, I'll show you how to cut. Cut directly from here."
Xiaoshan gestured with his hand, and the Stone-Cutting Master hesitated, "If I cut from here, even if it's valuable, it could easily be ruined. Are you sure? I'm not responsible if it gets damaged."
"Sure, do as I say, you won't have to compensate if it gets ruined," Long Xiaoshan asserted.
Hearing Long Xiaoshan's words, people around shook their heads. This young man was simply throwing away money. It was said that this was his first time gambling on stones. First, he bought a rough stone for eight million, and then he decided to cut it, as if money were meant to be splashed about. His attire didn't seem that of a wealthy heir either.
The Stone-Cutting Master shook his head; his job was only to cut stones, Long Xiaoshan was the boss.
If the boss made such a request, what more could he say?
He used the cutter to slice where Long Xiaoshan had specified, and with the high-speed cutting of the machine, the stone was quickly split in two.
A soft white hue emerged.
"Damn, it's gone up!"
An observant onlooker shouted out loud.
The Stone-Cutting Master couldn't believe it either, holding the jade stone that was almost cut in half and looking at the trace of jade color revealed, he said, "It's water type."
"Tsk tsk, young brother, impressive, you made a profit with just one cut."
Envious voices came from the people around.
Even Feng Shaokang, who hadn't walked away, showed a hint of surprise, feeling a bit uncomfortable. This kid had some dumb luck, hitting jade on his first try, and it was the not inexpensive Ice-like Level jade at that.
But he didn't take it too seriously.
Gambling on stones always involved luck; it was normal to encounter one good piece. Besides, this was only a small profit, who knew how much it could go up. Experience more tales on empire
"Master, keep cutting," Long Xiaoshan said.
"Sure thing," the Stone-Cutting Master, excited by the jade discovery, kept cutting, and a fist-sized piece of water type jade appeared.
Although it wasn't as good as the Ice-like Level, such a piece of jade was still worth at least a hundred thousand.
Someone on the spot offered 150,000 to buy it, but Long Xiaoshan naturally did not sell.
These pieces of jade were meant for his array setup.
Long Xiaoshan had only spent five thousand on this rough stone, and suddenly it increased to over a hundred thousand, netting a small profit, Feng Shaokang sneered, let you be pleased for a moment, I don't believe you can keep this up.
Even though Long Xiaoshan had earned over a hundred thousand, compared to the eight million spent, it was still not even a fraction.
Long Xiaoshan casually picked up another piece of rough stone and handed it to the Stone-Cutting Master.
He similarly directed him where to make the cut.
Although the Stone-Cutting Master still found it too risky, the experience with the first piece made him less vocal, and he made another cut.
The crowd was initially stunned, then suddenly shouted, "It's gone up again."
"Ice-like Level, wow, this piece might soar in value."
Feng Shaokang's sneer hadn't fully faded, and it froze on his face.
Song Yi, who had been fuming on the side, was now drawn over by the commotion, seeing the hint of moisture in the rough stone in the Stone-Cutting Master's hand. If it wasn't Ice-like Level, what else could it be?
"Impossible, it might just be a thin surface," Feng Shaokang bitterly swore to himself.
Yet Long Xiaoshan directed the Stone-Cutting Master to cut again.
Finding the Stone-Cutting Master's actions too slow, he told him to follow his own planned route to cut, and indeed, the speed increased. The stone's surface was steadily carved away, and soon, a piece slightly smaller than the previous water type but still larger than half a fist of Ice-like Level jade was revealed.
Someone immediately offered 800,000 to buy it.
Long Xiaoshan still didn't sell.
He casually tossed the piece of jade into the backpack he'd prepared and took out the third rough stone.
