Chapter 593 Gedanwei's Little Scheme

Chapter Five Hundred Ninety-Three

Long Xiaoshan, though he was now very wealthy, was but a minor player when compared to these old powers.

He could hardly believe that someone would spend three billion to craft a Golden Serpent Throne.

The extravagance of the Serpent Witch Sect was truly astounding, not to mention all the gold leaf and various golden objects scattered about. Just the cost of constructing this great hall must have been no less than ten billion.

Tsk, tsk.

He marveled.

For a religious sect like the Serpent Witch Sect in Myanmar, which had stood so many years, the amount of wealth it had plundered was probably immeasurable.

Even though Myanmar was poor compared to Hua Country, the wealth accumulated through an entire nation's effort was significant.

Lan Wan'er quickly pulled Xiaoshan up to the front of the Golden Serpent Throne. The throne was enormous, likely wide enough to comfortably seat three or four people side by side, nearly akin to the dragon throne of ancient Hua Country's emperors.

Lan Wan'er pushed Xiaoshan up to sit on it. Sitting on it felt far from comfortable, not even as good as an ordinary sofa—hard and cold.

However, the feeling of sitting aloft on the exalted golden throne, looking down upon everything below, was unparalleled.

No wonder men craved this sensation, "To hold the world's power when awake, to lie with beauties when drunk."

Gedanwei gazed up, green with envy, at Xiaoshan who was straddling the golden throne. It should have been him sitting there, rightfully perched above all, relishing the authority that came with leading a sect and basking in the twin delights of women and power.

But now, all that had become but a fleeting illusion.

Now, forget being the Sect Hierarch of the Serpent Witch Sect; his very life hung by a thread in Xiaoshan's hands.

And Gedanwei knew all too well that even if the leadership of the Serpent Witch Sect wasn't claimed by Xiaoshan and his group, it certainly wouldn't fall to him. The recent rebellion by Respected Master Maoqin proved this—if he hadn't brought Xiaoshan and the others here, he surely would have been confined by Maoqin by now. Once Maoqin truly took control of the Serpent Witch Sect, his execution as the former Young Master would be inevitable; he had seen this scenario all too often.

Without power, any hope of commanding the Serpent Witch Sect was nothing but a fool's dream.

So, if he wanted to live, to live comfortably in the future, he had no choice but to cling to powerful patrons.

In the past, he had his father, the Snake Spirit Zunzhe. Now that he no longer had that sturdy leg to hold on to, he must cling to the robust pillar that was Xiaoshan, ensuring he still had a place in the Serpent Witch Sect. Even if he couldn't be as glorious as when he was the Young Master, he would certainly be far better off than the common man.

The only issue now was how to ingratiate himself; looking at how young and robust Xiaoshan was., as long as Xiaoshan was satisfied and pleased, his life would be secure. Gedanwei's eyes flickered wildly, his mind already racing with numerous strategies of flattery.

In the end, a smug expression crept onto his face.

As for a woman, the Serpent Witch Sect had a beauty of its own. Before Lan Wan'er had arrived, she was unquestionably considered the number one beauty of the sect, and even with Lan Wan'er's presence, she certainly wouldn't lose to her. Each had their charms, and had this woman not been of special status, he would have already tried every means to get her for himself.

But this woman was his sister and also the Saintess of the Serpent Witch Sect. No matter how audacious he was, he dared not lay a hand on his own sister. If he were to offer his sister to Xiaoshan, with Xiaoshan's disposition, she would be sure to enter his harem; and by then, he would be akin to Xiaoshan's half-brother-in-law.

This thick leg, he embraced it.

Seeing Long Xiaoshan and Lan Wan'er's passionate kiss come to an end, Gedanwei immediately interjected with a sly remark, "Master, and the master's master, you must be weary from your travels. I shall now command a feast to be prepared, along with a dance performance for your entertainment."

Lan Wan'er, nestled in Xiaoshan's arms, replied lazily, "Alright, go ahead. Make sure it's to my satisfaction and don't disappoint me."

"Master, rest assured, I will certainly make it to your satisfaction," Gedanwei said obsequiously.

Xiaoshan watched Gedanwei leave, not in the least worried that the fellow might try to escape.

He knew this guy definitely wouldn't run away, and even if he did, it wouldn't be a concern. People like Gedanwei lacked backbone and would never amount to much in the future.

After Gedanwei ran out,

he swiftly made his way to the holy land of the Serpent Witch Sect, the place of worship for the Snake God, and also where the sect's Saintess lived. As the handmaiden of the Snake God, she had to reside alongside the deity.

After running a few hundred meters and passing some houses, he arrived at a narrow valley entrance where two women in yellow robes and veils leaped out, shouting, "Stop, this area is forbidden, you can't enter without the Sect Hierarch's command."

"Move aside," Gedanwei huffed sternly, "not recognizing me already? I am here to see my sister. A major crisis has erupted within the sect, and I must see her immediately."

The two women in yellow robes looked at Gedanwei's earnest expression, seemingly convinced of the urgency, and given he was the Young Master of the Snake Sorcerer Sect, they hesitated. But before they could decide, Gedanwei had already pushed past them and rushed in, so they hurriedly followed.

Gedanwei was no stranger to the forbidden land, entering every time there was a sacrifice to the Snake God. He quickened his pace down a cobblestone road, passing a massive serpent sculpture and altar until he spotted a yellow building nearby.

Gedanwei strode quickly inside.

Several gold-robed handmaidens rushed out the door, blocking Gedanwei's way. Unable to barge in, he shouted loudly, "Sister, help, the Serpent Witch Sect is doomed!"

Gedanwei shouted a few times.

A woman in a long yellow dress emerged from that white building, slender in figure with her face veiled, her neck, arms, thighs, and ankles adorned with many serpent-shaped gold ornaments, shimmering in brilliance, her eyes carrying a faint golden tint with vertical snake-like pupils, and a rhombus-shaped red gemstone on her forehead, lending her an aura of mystique and sultry allure.

"Let him go," the woman in the yellow dress said indifferently.

The yellow-robed handmaidens stepped aside, and Gedanwei immediately threw himself at the feet of the woman in yellow, kissing her shoes frantically and pleading, "Sister, save us, the Serpent Witch Sect is on the brink of extinction. Father is dead, only you can save us."

The woman in the yellow dress's expression changed as she asked hastily, "What are you talking about? Father is dead?"

"Yes, Father is dead, he perished in Death God Valley," Gedanwei said.

The woman in the yellow dress immediately pulled Gedanwei up, saying, "Come inside, quickly."

The two of them entered the room swiftly, and as she shut the door, the woman inquired, "What exactly happened? How could Father be dead? He was so powerful, and even able to control the Divine Serpent, who could have killed him?"

Gedanwei hastily recounted the events that unfolded in Death God Valley, glossing over the details and only mentioning that they encountered an extremely powerful demon that devoured Father, the Blood Spirit King, and many experts from the Southern Ocean, not even the Divine Serpent escaped.
