Undead Beast Master: Living Solely for My Desires

Chapter 354: When Ghost Comes to War

"So, these are the ones considered among the strongest, right?" Midnight asked, rising to her feet as she gazed down at the battlefield. "I presume you want Eldros and me to support you while—"

"No," Zaroth cut her off.

With a silent gesture, he pointed with his odachi to the countless soldiers below, getting ready to deliver a devastating amount of arrows.

"You two are here to eliminate them. Both of you excel in large-scale combat. I'll deal with the bigger threat."

Midnight glanced at him briefly. Even from afar, she was able to feel how strong those council members were, and yet her boyfriend wanted to take them on alone?

'I really do have a thing for insane men,' she mused, then took Eldros' hand and leapt from Luna's back.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Eldros shouted, pure panic as he entered free fall.

"Stop acting like a wuss," Midnight hissed, black wings growing out of her back, slowing down their descent.

The two had begun to engage the Crimson Sun army.

"She is here," Zaroth, making sure that his friends had safely reached the ground and began engaging the enemy forces, shifted his gaze to the giant walls of the capital.

There, the members of the council that had attacked his city were here with the addition of Solara.

His eyes flickered for a moment, seeing the giant fire arrow flying toward him.

'This was the arrow that slowed down the movements of the Demigod,' he realized, raising his hand.

The arrow's destructive power was undeniable; it could easily split a mountain in two. And yet, Zaroth didn't even flinch. He could have ordered Luna to change course, or used her breath to intercept it. But that wouldn't plant fear in the soldiers below who watched him with cautious awe.

"Fire control." His eyes grew colder, his voice low, using the skill to force the arrow to tremble. It disappeared just a few meters before hitting them.

"What was that?!" a soldier that was low on the ground had just witnessed their princess's arrow fail for the first time!

"Enemy ahead!" However, he and the ones next to him weren't able to focus on Ghost any longer since Eldros had summoned the Judgement Gaze above him, slowing down the movements of the soldiers.

And by cruel twist of fate—Midnight, a vampire, a demon. The thing that was supposed to be hated by the gods themselves, wasn't affected in the slightest by the divine thing.

"I wonder how many new followers I'll gain today," she mused, using the blood around her to form claws, giving her the ability to massacre the enemy like pigs. Most fell, yet a couple slowly trembled after death, rising to their feet and joining her side.

She hadn't just wasted her time when she had been placed in the Drakmire Bastion, she had more or less perfected the ability to create Wights and other beings of similar nature.

Meanwhile, Eldros, familiar with death, didn't halt his steps in the slightest, carving through the enemy lines like a hot knife through butter.

"Another arrow," Zaroth mused, his eyes locked on the projectile.

Once again, he raised his hand and willed it to stop. Yet this time something unusual happened—magma was inside the projectile. The arrow may have been gone, yet the inferno of the magma remained and landed on Luna.

'That's hot,' Luna mused, not caring about the heat, just like any other undead wouldn't have.

Seeing the pathetic attempt by Solara to slow him down, Zaroth broke into cold laughter.

"Oh how the tables have turned! You started this war by attacking our capital, sure in your abilities that the war ahead would be won by you!"

Following her master's command, Luna increased her speed severalfold, breaking the sound barrier with her sheer power alone.

"The thing is, you would have really won the war… had you not made one simple, fatal mistake."

Unbothered by the strong currents of the wind, he raised his mask a bit upward, unleashing fire breath.

Making use of his skill Fire Control, coupled with the uncanceled hidden feature of the runes on his odachi, the inferno wrapped around the blade, increasing its length with half a meter of flame.

"You dared to go against me! You dared to steal something precious from me. Now, I'll take everything from you—a million times over!"

He roared, jumping from Luna's back like an arrow, blade ready to slash the council members waiting on the walls.

"Follow the plan!" Solara shouted, leaping back and landing atop a high rooftop, drawing another arrow.

"You fool! The sun is at its highest point. You dare face me and my army at their strongest?!"

The second Zaroth landed on the walls, his eyes sped up, scanning each person in his vicinity.

With a flick of his fingers, he summoned all his beasts, who once appeared, went to do their duties.

"Even at your peak, I will crush you. From the start, you never had a chance!" he roared, his blade already aiming for the first target—the woman he wasn't able to defeat before when these people dared to attack his city—Silver.

She was caught off guard that the madman had chosen to target her first, and a curse slipped from her lips before she could stop it. She had sworn never to cross blades with Ghost unless the entire council stood at her side—but fate, it seemed, had given her no say in the matter.

'Let's test my powers!' Zaroth thought, his blade splitting the air, as it headed toward Silver.

Raising her rapier made of ice, she met his fire attack.

And her ice weapon shattered into pieces.

'Such power!' her eyes widened in horror, seeing the blade heading for her torso in slow motion.

Looking at the fire blade, she was certain not even her armor would be able to withstand it.

"You think you will fight us one on one?!" Hector appeared out of nowhere and hit Zaroth's side.

Having been taken by surprise, he was swept off his feet, falling from the wall, into the capital.

The wall was more than fifty meters, meaning he should have been injured at least, yet the way he stood up, unbothered by the rubble around him, told a different tale.

He had used Darkveil. He had become so good with it that even in the middle of the day, he was able to find darkness to protect himself with.

Hector couldn't help but click his tongue in frustration. If Zaroth had been able to take the attack and remain unscathed, it meant that this battle was going to be much more trouble than they hoped for.

"Don't give him time to rest!" Solara commanded, letting out an arrow toward his figure.

Silver and Hector attacked in unison, leaping from the wall with fluid grace.

Ashira was just barely able to hold Luna from entering the battle.

Orin and Velastra, who should have been fighting Zaroth's beasts, ignored their presence entirely and launched themselves at him with everything they had, determined to eliminate the greatest threat.

Zaroth was being attacked from five sides simultaneously.

Yet there was no fear in his eyes. No, there was only amusement.

"Everything you can throw against me," he muttered, taking a step forward.

"Is meaningless," he spoke, disappearing—only a shadow remaining in his place.
