Universe Infinite Canteen

Chapter 789: Looking for Someone

The Pink Whale Ship had just landed when the gates of Great Curtain City opened, and about a dozen motorcycles rode out from the city.

They stopped cautiously around a hundred meters away from the plane spaceship.

Ma Lu noticed that many of the riders were familiar faces—Qin Zhao, Vice President of the Hunter's Guild; Wei Cha of the Flame Tooth group; and He Yueji from the Cyren Hunting Group...

He even spotted the emblem of the Twin Sunflower Hunting Group, though he didn't recognize the young hunter who had come on their behalf. He guessed the newcomer must have joined after Ma Lu left.

However, the other party recognized him—or at least had seen his photo—"Ah, Vice Leader, it's you."

Qin Zhao was equally shocked. "This is your transport ship? Wait… no, this isn't a transport ship. This thing looks like the rumored spaceships from the universe.

"I think I've seen something like this in the archives from before the Great Blackout. Over six hundred years ago, our ancestors not only traveled freely between cities but also piloted spaceships to leave this planet. No wonder your arrivals and departures are always so abrupt."

"Uh, well, I didn't exactly use this spaceship before. But that's not the point right now."

Ma Lu said, "The reason I came back this time is because a group of exceptionally powerful enemies is about to descend on your plane."

"Powerful enemies? How powerful? Stronger than a beast tide?" Wei Cha pressed for details.

"Stronger than a beast tide."

Upon hearing Ma Lu's definitive response, everyone's expressions turned grave.

For the people living in the desert, a beast tide was no different from the apocalypse. If not for Ma Lu stepping in last time at a critical moment, Great Curtain City would've been destroyed like so many other cities in history that fell to beast tides.

The entire population of the city would have been doomed.

And now, it had been barely half a year since the last beast tide struck. Great Curtain City hadn't fully recovered; both manpower and weapons were in short supply.

If another disaster struck, Great Curtain City stood no chance of surviving.

Qin Zhao, being the Vice President of the Hunter's Guild, managed to keep his composure. He took a moment to absorb the bad news before speaking again.

"Since you've returned at such a crucial time, Vice Leader Ma Lu, you must have a way to stop this crisis."

His words reignited some hope in the others. After all, it was Ma Lu's solo efforts that had saved Great Curtain City from obliteration during the last disaster.

But this time, Ma Lu shook his head and said, "I'm not sure I can. All I can do is try my best. By the way, where are Boggy and Mai Mai?"

"They went out hunting," said the young member of the Twin Sunflower Hunting Group. "Leader Boggy personally led the team into the Death Forbidden Zone."

"How long have they been gone? When are they expected back?"

"They left a week ago. This is a major hunting expedition—the Guild sent about 50 hunters, and they've teamed up with 30 hunters from the Cyren Hunting Group."

"Send them a message immediately and get them to return!" Ma Lu commanded.

The Skulder forces could arrive at any moment. Staying in the city wasn't necessarily safe, but being in the wild was even worse.

If they encountered the Skulder army, a mere few dozen hunters wouldn't stand a chance.

As the Vice Leader, Ma Lu's orders carried significant weight within the Twin Sunflower Hunting Group. Unfortunately, hunters often turned off their communication devices during hunts to conserve power.

It just so happened that Boggy had sent out a transmission earlier in the morning, which meant she wouldn't activate the radio again for at least another day.

This would be too late. So, Ma Lu decided to find Boggy and her team himself and bring them back.

But before setting out, Ma Lu headed into the city to inspect the hunting group's recent acquisitions.

Following his prior instructions, members of the Twin Sunflower Hunting Group prioritized selling any rare prey they encountered in the wild to the group.

These rare ingredients were stored in the group's cold storage by Boggy, waiting for Ma Lu's return to be sorted and selected.

It had been almost three months since his last visit to Great Curtain City, and the cold storage was now overflowing with various exotic ingredients.

Among them were more than a dozen items not found on Ma Lu's Desktop Farm.

For his final dish, Ma Lu had already chosen the theme. Yet, repeated attempts had failed to satisfy him.

He speculated that the issue lay with the ingredients, so he came here to see if anything usable was available.

The cold storage was mostly stocked with four- and five-star meats, with the highest being a seven-star Phantom Lower Mouth Batfish.

Without lingering to inspect, Ma Lu packed all the items into his Collection Bag and rushed back to the Pink Whale Ship, instructing Yan Wu to restart the ship and head toward the Death Forbidden Zone.

As soon as they entered, Ma Lu activated the ship's broadcast system and began playing a search announcement.

This was the fastest way to locate Boggy and the others, but the downside was that it could attract unwelcome guests before finding them.

The beasts residing in the Death Forbidden Zone were all extremely powerful, including several seven-star and even eight-star individuals.

But this time, they encountered an even more formidable presence.

Two Lion-bodied Giant Eagles swooped toward the ship from the front, their wings slicing through the air like razors. In an instant, the Wandering Sorcerer disappeared from the ship's bridge.

In the next moment, her figure appeared suspended mid-air beside the ship, directly confronting the two Lion God Giant Eagles.

She chanted a spell under her breath, then snapped her fingers. A swirling crimson nebula materialized high above her head, spinning ominously.

From the nebula, a barrage of meteors shot forth, hurtling toward the two Lion-bodied Giant Eagles below!

The eagles' faces contorted unnaturally into expressions of human-like terror.

They couldn't fathom why this seemingly small and frail woman wielded such overwhelming power.

Retreat instinctively arose in their minds, but the meteors that rained down had sealed off all escape routes from every direction.

In the end, they could only watch helplessly as their bodies were struck by the meteors.

Known for their sheer strength, Lion-bodied Giant Eagles stood nearly ten meters tall, with talons harder than any alloy, capable of tearing through two-centimeter-thick steel plates with ease.

However, against the true force of nature, they were utterly insignificant. The meteors obliterated them on the spot, their massive bodies smashed into unrecognizable pulp.

This small-scale Forbidden Curse Level spell was typically reserved for dealing with giant dragons.

The Female Sorceress had unleashed it not just to deal with the two Lion-bodied Giant Eagles but also to intimidate the other creatures lurking beneath the desert sands.

Sure enough, watching the mighty eagles succumb with no chance to parry, the other creatures that had been eager to make a move quickly backed down.

Creatures capable of surviving in this harsh region usually weren't lacking in intelligence and had already concluded that these outsiders were far beyond their capability to provoke. Some even burrowed deeper into the sand to hide.
