Nice to meet you!

I am Usahime Karin, the true master of the great fleet that roams the galaxy, and the admiral of the space pirate Kemono Pirate Crew!

Since my Kemono Pirate Crew is set to conquer the Earth you all live on, I ask for your cooperation!!

"Seriously…?"

There was about an hour left until the first stream.

Even so, nearly 50,000 people were already waiting.

What the hell is with these people? Do they not have jobs?

Even if this is a corporate VTuber, 50,000 waiting for a debut is insane.

There's no way this is normal.

On top of that, the subscriber count has already surpassed 200,000?

That's already enough to make a living as a VTuber… easily.

The numbers were completely different from the VTubers I knew in my past life.

What is this?

This is a little scary…

"Well, putting that aside."

What is this model?

It's ridiculously cute.

It was worth agonizing over and carefully filling out that survey form.

The hair color was primarily a refreshing, cool-toned sky blue, with small streaks of white mixed in.

The long, straight hair cascading down to the waist—the kind that makes otakus lose their minds.

Adding to that, two small tails peeking out adorably between ribbons on the sides.

And on top, a long ribbon shaped like rabbit ears, standing up cutely.

She wore a pristine white pirate coat draped over her shoulders,

And underneath, a lightly fluttering sailor uniform.

It was the kind of design that would make anyone instantly lose their mind…

A true masterpiece of godly design.

Thank you, Mama.

Thanks to my wonderful Mama, Karin-chan probably won’t starve to death.

If I manage to starve with a top-tier model like this, that would be entirely my fault.

By the way, "Mama" here doesn't refer to my actual mother.

In the VTuber industry, the artist who designs the character model is called "Mama,"

And the person who rigs the model’s movements is called "Papa."

Well, enough with the little explanations…!

"Ehehe…"

Seriously, the more I look at it, the cuter it is, I can’t help but laugh.

I thought I was done with VTubing, but…

I guess I really am just a hopeless otaku.

My brain is completely broken.

…A little should be fine, right?

Even though the stream is soon, I really want to see this adorable model in action.

Yeah, as a rehearsal…

Why not play around with it a bit behind the scenes?

"So, if I do this… and then this…."

Turning on Live2D without starting a livestream was an easy task.

I had already learned how to use the streaming app from the company before my debut.

Every VTuber company has its own dedicated app.

In my past life, I had only ever watched from the sidelines.

And after reincarnating, I had just been rolling around in a game world.

I had never actually used anything like this before…

It was more complicated than I expected and took quite a bit of effort.

"…Done!"

However, Shibuya Karin had overlooked something.

The fact that her level of carelessness was so high that she skimmed through even life-changing contracts after reading only the first page…

And that same Karin, sitting alone in the corner of her house,

With no one around to help,

Idly chewing on a side dish from the Hiiragi household that Yuika had given her,

Had only skimmed through the app's instructions.

There was no way she had actually understood it properly!

Of course not!

It was inevitable!

Completely inevitable…!

— ?

— Huh?

— It's happening──(゚∀゚)──!!

— ???

— Isn't it too early for the stream?

— Cute.

Just like that…!

With only an hour left before the debut stream…!

It happened…!

It really happened…!

A VTuber industry first—!

"Oh, it's moving. The way it flutters is nice. As expected, it’s way cuter when animated."

FLAMING DISASTER…!! (炎上)

— Cute.

— So cute~

— This… this smells like a scandal.

— O MY GOD SHE IS SO CUTE.

— Cute w

As I gently shook my head on the broadcast screen, visible only to me, the rabbit-ear ribbon swayed along with it.

The technology is insane! Amazing!

The VTubers I knew used to struggle just to blink properly, their eyes trembling awkwardly all the time…!

Out of curiosity, I deliberately blinked both eyes.

On the screen, Usahime Karin followed suit, blinking both eyes at the same time.

My eyes… closed simultaneously…?

Without any trembling at all?

This is possible!?

I was genuinely shocked.

Did I end up joining a company with some next-level technology…?

I was finally starting to realize that the major corporations in this world were nothing like the VTuber companies of my past life.

"I wonder if winking works too? But that’s probably too much to ask!"

— Wink!?

— Hey, rookie, what about your introduction?

— This girl… I have a feeling she doesn't realize the stream is on…

— This might be a disaster w

— But she’s cute, so it’s fine.

Despite having the stream on, the new third-gen VTuber was shaking her head, blinking, and now even winking, completely absorbed in admiring herself.

The viewers (a term used to refer to the audience) quickly realized that something unexpected was happening.

Some viewers simply enjoyed watching from a third-person perspective, finding her adorable.

Some, already envisioning the fiery discussions about to erupt in the community, chanted "flaming disaster."

Others, feeling secondhand embarrassment for the rookie's accidental stream, anxiously hoped she would realize soon.

The live chat, filled with these mixed reactions, was shaking so violently it was almost terrifying.

[Currently 183,097 viewers · Streaming started 11 minutes ago]

People who had set stream notifications, those rushing in after seeing posts on various forums, threads, and Twitter, all flocked in, pushing the numbers to an astonishing level.

— 草 (LOL)

— Someone… please… stop this girl…

— So cute.

— What is the manager doing?

— This is already a massive disaster www

— Admin-san? Your VTuber is live-streaming a crisis right now… What are you even doing? w

"Ah, it’s about time."

— Here we go?

— Is she finally realizing?

— Karin-chan? You’ve already been streaming for over 40 minutes… That’s plenty.

— What a unique first stream! Enjoyed it!

— So… it’s ending already…?

— No, this is just the beginning w (of the disaster)

"Mm-mm… Ahem…"

— That throat clearing is so real w

— tskr (blessed)

"Ah. Aaah─. …Alright."

— No w That’s not alright w

"Then… let’s start the stream!"

— 草草草 (LOL LOL LOL)

— She laughed w

— Start (End).

— 草 (LOL)

With that final line,

Usahime Karin’s unexpected event stream came to an end.

***

"Huh? I definitely turned it on… Why is the stream off?"

About five minutes after pressing the start button,

I finally realized the stream wasn’t actually broadcasting.

Thank goodness….

Five minutes is still within an acceptable level of lateness.

If I had noticed any later, it would have been a disaster from the very first stream.

Click─

I carefully double-checked and pressed the start button again.

— Ooooh.

— IT’S HAPPENING───(゚∀゚)───!!!

— So cute.

— IT’S FINALLY HERE────(゚∀゚)────!!!!

— So this is third-gen…

— These guys were totally scheming together, seriously 草 (LOL).

I confirmed that the stream was on, but just in case, I checked the live chat.

Good. Judging by the reactions, it was working properly.

‘Finally, my first stream….’

Most VTubers feel nervous during their debut.

But that didn’t apply to me.

After all, the worlds I had experienced after reincarnating weren’t limited to just game worlds.

I had spent years trapped in countless virtual music broadcasts and talk shows, tirelessly talking.

For someone like me, nervous? Not a chance.

That’s why the company made me the leader of third-gen and had me debut first.

More importantly, a debut stream is just an introduction.

All I had to do was explain my VTuber roleplay backstory.

The stream wouldn’t be long.

At most, ten minutes.

Even if I dragged it out, maybe thirty minutes?

"Aaah, can you all hear me? Is my voice too quiet?"

First, a sound check.

VTubers can’t tell how loud their voice sounds to viewers,

So it’s common to ask at the start of a stream.

— We can hear you.

— Your voice is so cute.

— her voice is so cute

— Small and adorable.

"I see. So you can hear me well. Then…"

Nice to meet you! I’m Usahime Karin, a third-gen student of Sakuragaoka Academy, making my debut today!

I look forward to your support!

The live chat instantly exploded.

It was like watching a wave of text flood the screen.

Just from my greeting alone, seeing this kind of reaction felt… strangely exhilarating.

Even though I had been possessed in a talk show broadcast before, the chat there never reacted like this.

It simply followed a set pattern, repeating like a scripted program.

They were basically NPCs in a game.

Maybe that’s why, even though these are just words on a screen, knowing that real people are sending them makes me feel…

Yeah.

I guess it’s… kind of nice.

"Alright, let’s move on to my introduction. Is everyone okay with that?"

— It’s fine.

— Yeah.

— Of course.

"First, we’ll start with the basics, right?"

I grabbed my mouse and switched from the default background to the pre-prepared profile screen.

On screen, a profile with basic details like my name and age appeared.

Of course, the actual name and age weren’t filled in yet.

Those are things we’ll reveal one by one through conversation.

"First, my name! Yes! Nice to meet you! I’m Usahime Karin (兎姫 かりん)-chan! Please take care of me!"

— Nice to meet you.

— Nice to meet you!

— 草 (LOL)

— Nice to meet you w

"Wow. Thanks, everyone. You’re all so kind. Well, it’s written in the stream title, so you probably already know, but—"

— Yeah, we know, so hurry up and move on.

"Hey now, that tone is a bit too much…. Be a little nicer to Karin-chan."

— Now that I think about it, all of the third-gen members have animal-related names.

"Yep, that’s right. But… how do you know that?"

— The official PV.

— It was in the PV.

— I watched the PV!

"PV? …Ah! Oh, right, right. The PV. That’s true~. Now that you mention it, they did upload it. Our Kemono Pirate Crew’s PV. Did you all watch it? It was awesome, wasn’t it?"

— I watched it!

— It was really cool.

— It was amazing.

That’s when I finally remembered—just a few days before my debut stream, the management had uploaded a PV introducing the third-gen group, the Kemono Pirate Crew.

"Kemono" is a Japanese word meaning "beast" or "animal."

In other words, as the Kemono Pirate Crew, all third-gen members were given the setting of being animal-eared girls.

Well, in my case, technically speaking, it's just a rabbit-ear-shaped ribbon, but…

In the grand scheme of things, it’s not much different.

Even our sniper, Kotori-chan, doesn’t exactly have animal ears, but she still fits the theme of being a girl based on an animal.

Anyway, the key point of our third-gen is that we all have both animal and cute girl attributes.

"Next is age. What do you all think? How old does Karin-chan look?"

— 10.

— 17?

— Probably 15, just a normal age.

"Hmmm, most of you are guessing in the teenage range. Well, all members of SakuEn are set to be students, after all."

— 495.

"495…? What kind of number is that? Wouldn’t it be better to just round it to 500 at that point? Feels weird~."

— 2.

"Two years old!? That’s an age where I wouldn’t even be able to talk before this stream! You… idiot (バカタレ)! Think a little before you speak!"

— 3.14159265358979323…

"3.14… Oh, that’s pi. You don’t put decimal points in a person’s age! Wait, huh? That’s really long. Don’t tell me… you memorized the whole thing? Whoa. That’s actually amazing."

These guys. Asking was my mistake.

They’re having way too much fun messing with me.

But that pi guy is seriously impressive.

He’s probably just a regular school genius, huh?

Well, enough with the comedy routine. Time to reveal it.

"Alright then. I’ll now reveal Karin-chan’s age!"

Ta-dan!

With that self-made sound effect, I moved my mouse.

As new text appeared, the previously hidden answer was revealed on screen.

[Age: ]

…

…

…

[Age: Legal]

"I’m legal."

— !?

— Huh!?

— LOL what www

— 草 (LOL)

— I did not expect that w

— This is actually hilarious w

— Does that mean… legal loli!?

"Yes. Karin-chan is legal. Legal. Numbers don’t really matter, do they?"

— 草 (LOL)

— True.

— Well… I mean, yeah… w

"Alright, next…."

[Height: 141cm]

Normally, after name and age, the next thing to reveal is height.

Of course, 141cm is only Usahime Karin’s height.

I, Shibuya Karin, am actually 153cm, which is taller than that.

…But they’re both short, so it doesn’t really make a difference.

As soon as my height was revealed, the live chat flooded with messages, but nothing particularly interesting.

As expected, the reactions were mostly "She's tiny" and "So cute", the usual responses.

Basic profile details are essential, but they don’t provide much entertainment.

I figured the reactions would be relatively mild.

After covering my name, age, and height—the absolute basics—

All that was left were casual topics like hobbies, likes, and dislikes, perfect for some lighthearted chatting.

Using my experiences from my past possessed life, I skillfully kept the conversation flowing—

Talking, laughing, setting myself up to be teased,

Throwing in some good tsukkomi reactions, and smoothly carrying the stream along.

And now, I was reaching the final part of my profile introduction.

[Favorite food: ]

[Least favorite food: ]

"So this is the last part~. Alright. So, does everyone like vegetables?"

— I like them.

— Not really.

— Some are okay, but overall, not a fan.

"Such a variety of opinions. I'm surprised so many people actually like them."

— What about you, Karin-chan? What vegetables do you like?

"Karin-chan? Karin-chan hates vegetables."

— Eh?

— 草 (LOL)

— The question has lost all meaning.

— Then why did you even ask? w

"You see, before debuting as a VTuber, Karin-chan ate nothing but grass every single day.

Meat is way better. Karin-chan prefers meat."

— Ah…

— I see…

— Yeah, that would make sense.

— 草 (LOL)

"Even in this situation, someone commented '草'. You guys are the worst. Stop making Karin-chan eat grass (草) even on stream!"

— 草

— 草

— 草

— The entire chat is overgrown with grass now. Literally 草.

— 草

"Don’t make me laugh, you guys!"

In Japan, people use "www" to represent laughter,

Just like how Koreans use "ㅋㅋㅋ".

The two are so similar that even someone seeing it for the first time could easily figure out,

"Ah, this is how Japanese people laugh online."

Over time, though, "www" got shortened to a single character.

That character is "草", which means "grass" in kanji.

In Japanese, it’s pronounced "kusa" (くさ).

So in short, "草" is the equivalent of "ㅋㅋㅋ" in Korean.

In VTuber and Japanese internet culture, when chat is filled with "草", it’s called "grass growing".

So what does it mean that they’re growing so much grass right now?

What else!?

They’re obviously just messing with me!

"Next!"

I quickly tried to shift the conversation to something else.

The personal info section was over, and now we were moving on to fan names.

"Fan names are important, right, everyone?"

— Ooooh!

— Finally!

— The fan name topic is here───(゚∀゚)───!!!

Good, I successfully changed the topic.

Well, that was expected.

From a listener’s perspective, fan names are pretty significant.

So, what exactly is a fan name?

A fan name is literally the name used to refer to a VTuber’s fanbase.

Even though these guys love teasing me,

The fact remains—they’re here because they like my stream.

And more importantly…

They’re potential sources of income who might help me achieve my dream of an easy, effortless life.

Calling them just "listeners" feels a bit too distant.

That’s why VTubers create special fan names for their audience.

"So, I already have a few candidates here. Normally, it’s standard to decide fan names with a poll, right?

Since this is a stream we build together! What do you all like?"

As soon as I put up the list of fan name options I had discussed with management,

The chat once again exploded with activity.

Let’s see…

UsaTomo, UsaTomo, UsaMin, UsaMate, UsaTomo…

As expected, "UsaTomo" was dominating.

Well, fan names ending in ‘~Tomo’ are the most common in the industry.

Even without checking exact numbers, it was obvious UsaTomo was the clear winner.

The viewers probably thought so too.

"But… dear listeners. Aren’t you all misunderstanding something?"

Listen up, guys.

Polls are only a suggestion.

There’s no rule saying I have to follow them, right?

"Your opinions will not be accepted."

— What!?

— Ehhh… no way…

— This is… w

Tomo (friend)? Mate?

Haaah??

Don’t get ahead of yourselves.

Do you even know who I am?

Your fan name was already decided from the beginning.

You are all UsaMin (うさ民)!

(UsaMin (うさ民) = "Usa" (rabbit) + "Min" (citizen), the official fan name of Usahime Karin’s viewers)

"UsaMin (うさ民), listen up.

This poll doesn’t matter.

Your fan name is already set in stone as UsaMin (うさ民). That’s just how it is!"

— That’s too cruel…

— UsaTomo had the most votes, though…

"Shut up! Who do you think I am!? I’m the admiral of the Kemono Pirate Crew!

Tomo? Mate? Haaahhh~~?? Don’t make me laugh!

You are ALL my subjects! My slaves!!"

— This is a ridiculous dictatorship w

— 草 (LOL)

— Ehhhhh~…

— The way she treats her citizens is too harsh…

— I’ve never seen a dictatorship-style VTuber before w

"Why do you guys actually like this…?"

— Isn’t it fine if we enjoy it?

"Well, I guess… But doesn’t this mean you all like getting scolded by a girl like me?

Are you all okay in the head? That’s seriously weird."

— Haaah?

— Are you picking a fight?

— This girl has serious brat energy.

— We have no choice but to discipline her as adults.

— Then just let us be UsaTomo.

"Nope."

— Doma (Flat like a chopping board)

"Haaah!? I’m NOT flat! In reality, my chest is big, so it doesn’t matter! No damage taken. You lose~."

— R…Reality?

— She just slipped up.

— Um, Karin-chan? What do you mean by reality…?

"Nice try, but that won’t work on me.

Alright, that’s it for today. Time to end the stream."

— We haven’t decided on a closing phrase yet!

"Oh, right…."

Just when I thought I was finally done, there was still one last thing left.

Ugh, what a hassle…

Thinking that, I just improvised a generic closing phrase on the spot.

The cheeky UsaMin viewers complained that I was being too lazy, but…

Yeah, I know.

No matter how much you all whine, 90% of it is just playful banter.

And besides…

I already knew that this level of teasing wouldn’t actually cause any real controversy.

Most importantly, Karin-chan is already in "stream-ending mode"!

Your complaints won’t reach me…!

"Alright, for real this time, the stream is over! See you all~."

"Otsu-Karin──!!!"

— Otsu-Karin!

— Otsu-Karin!

— Otsu-Karin~

— Otsu-Karin!!
