Chapter 1349: New Familiar
-----
After a hearty breakfast, we moved to take a quick cold shower. And indeed, it was rather quick, using some simple Water Magic Spells, I was able to wash everyone in a second and get ready instantly, a very efficient usage of magic.
Although the girls looked me slightly annoyed after that, it seemed they wanted the bath to last longer, despite how they asked for it to be quick… Whatever.
Even when I took plenty of showers back in the trial, it never felt as refreshing and as calming as it is now, in this castle we decided to use as our temporary house.
After eating I wanted to burn some calories though, so I went outside to test out my new Skills and check my new Familiars as well, perhaps spar with them or my friends, and test how strong I've become.
Mostly everyone was still sleeping, however. It seemed that they were very exhausted from yesterday's night party, so it couldn't be helped I suppose.
However, Braveblitz, Aurora, and Nova were obviously awake. They stayed awake the entire night just watching the night sky or exploring the surrounding forest and finding stuff.
That's why when I walked outside they greeted me with a pile of… junk, or well, stuff.
Branches, flowers, a whole tree, some dead, giant moles, and even a massive blue colored bird of over ten meters of height, apparently a high ranked monster that was passing by the sky and that Braveblitz shoot down with his laser cannon, that explained why it had a huge hole.
"You sure brought a bunch of things, what's this supposed to be? A gift for me?" I wondered, looking at it. "Oh, there's also some weapons, where did you find these?"
"Yeah Blake, it is a gift from us!" Braveblitz nodded. "Do you like it?"
"Those weapons were found outside, in the forest," Aurora said. "From what I could guess, there was a large battle near this fortress with blood and weapons everywhere, although there wasn't any corpse."
"Ah yeah, two or three days ago we fought against an army of Lizardmen," I explained. "And…"
I spent a few minutes telling them the reason I was here, and a bit of who I was in this world, my friends, the foe we fought before, and the one we were pursuing now.
"I see… such a large task, you're indeed an amazing hero then, if a whole continent is being saved y you, Blake! Hahah!" Braveblitz couldn't help to feel quite proud of me, for some reason.
"I understand things better now, thank you for giving me so much information," Aurora nodded. "Ah right, this bird Braveblitz hunted is called a Great Azure Bird, it seems to be a strong A Rank monster. I was wondering if it could be of use to you? I remember hearing you could absorb their Spirit Orbs, or something?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "Most living beings in this world develop Spirit Orbs, did you know? They are used as sources of energy and are also precious materials for the creation of magically enhanced equipment, tools, magic technology, and even potions and elixirs. My Summoner Class has the ability to absorb them and transform them into new Familiars."
I quickly walked towards the bird, if it was an A Rank monster, it should be pretty strong, so I might as well absorb the core and see what it can offer to me.
I used the sharp blade of Gluttony to cut its gut and then open it revealing the intact Spirit Orb, which was blue.
I grabbed it and then, with the Grimoire's help, it was assimilated.
FLAAASH!
As that happened, the Grimoire's pages flickered, suddenly showing several words and also a new page within its content.
[You have successfully absorbed the Spirit Orb of the [Giant Azure Bird (A Rank)]!]
[Because the recent Rank Up of your Talent, it is now possible to turn Spirit Orbs that weren't obtained by your own hands as Familiars.]
[However, because this was already hunted by your own Familiar, it still counts as if you hunted it down instead, therefore this new update doesn't apply to this scenario.]
[Nonetheless, you have gained a new ability, being capable of turning into Familiars any Spirit Orb that is compatible with it.]
[You can also now use any Spirit Orb to boost any other Familiar, the Familiar and the Spirit Orb used to boost their growth don't need to be the same anymore.]
[Additionally, Ranks are also not necessary, and although each Familiar will have a requirement for their growth based in Spirit Orbs of their same Rank, lower ranked Spirit Orbs can be used in larger quantities to substitute higher Ranked Spirit Orbs.]
[The possibilities are truly endless now!]
Hoh, this is pretty good! Now I am no longer limited by any of these annoying things… I could truly soar the skies, just like this amazing new familiar.
I shall name you Sapphire.

"Interesting. Come forth, Sapphire!"
FLAAASH!
The card I took from my grimoire quickly materialized into a giant, azure-feathered bird, with also feathers of various other colors, a long neck, a small head with a regal appearance, and a long golden beak, with rainbow-colored eyes and a crest of colorful feathers.
It was indeed a beautiful new familiar, and aside from being majestic, it was also pretty strong, despite being just a bird.
"And well, this is how I usually make them," I explained to Braveblitz and Aurora.
