Chapter 11 - Déjà Vu (3)
[Interview Record/001]
-Where did you serve during the war?
-I was a helicopter pilot in the Jibro 2nd Combat Aviation Unit. I piloted an Mi-35.
-Do you remember what happened that day?
-Of course. From the weather that day, to the comrades who boarded with me, to the cityscape that turned into a sea of fire. It’s a memory I can never forget.
-What exactly was the mission assigned to you at that time?
-At that time, we were in a situation where we were being pushed back from the front line. We were in a situation where we had to hand over the oil fields, the root cause of this damn war, to Solomon as they were. In the end, the higher-ups decided to blow them up rather than let them be taken.
-So you attacked the oil facilities.
-More precisely, our role was to escort friendly forces striking the oil facilities and buy time. The plan was for our squadron to act as a decoy against ground forces while the strike team set fire to the oil fields with incendiary bombs.
-And you succeeded, right?
-We did. As we were sweeping away Solomon’s forces with rockets and cannons while shaking off incoming anti-aircraft missiles, I saw a huge pillar of fire rising from the oil fields in the distance.
-Then when did you encounter Solomon’s devil?
-It was right after receiving the mission success signal from the strike team. As we were turning our nose to leave the war zone, I saw movement below. They were infantry, but their uniforms were a bit different from Solomon’s army. I could see clearly because we were flying low to avoid anti-aircraft missiles.
-It was them.
-I didn’t know at the time. Right after witnessing the enemies entering a building, as we were out of missiles and rockets, we carried out suppressing fire with the cannon. I could clearly see holes being punched in the building’s outer wall, but at some point, I saw a human figure on the rooftop.
-Was it Solomon’s devil?
-It was a male, and he wasn’t wearing a helmet, perhaps lost while coming up to the rooftop through the cannon fire. That’s why his white hair was more vivid. The man was aiming something long at my helicopter, and in the urgent situation, I thought it was a portable anti-aircraft missile. Naturally, I thought it would be something like a Manpads.
-It wasn’t?
-I saw it while spraying flares and twisting the helicopter body in evasive maneuvers. A rocket warhead flying past the flares. The RWR didn’t sound until right before impact, and when I came to my senses, my helicopter was crashed into the ground.
-That means…
-He hit a helicopter performing evasive maneuvers with an unguided rocket. Amidst cannon shells flying that would blow your body apart just from a graze, a maneuvering helicopter, without any guidance function.
-What happened after the crash?
-All the comrades who were on board with me were captured as prisoners. We were released after the war ended, but we suffered quite a bit in the camps. From the ground forces’ perspective, attack helicopters are objects of fear and hatred. Flying low, hiding and suddenly popping out from beyond the terrain to project firepower and run away, it must be more annoying.
-Where do you think Solomon’s devil is now?
-That’s something no one knows. But one thing’s for sure, I’d like to avoid encountering that person as an enemy on the battlefield again.

“This woman, commonly referred to as ‘Alpha’, is the rebel leader, Natalie Arties. She leads the rebels under the pretext of overthrowing the dictatorship, but in reality, she’s a terrorist aiming for power and a crazy bitch who believes she’s a child of God.”
-Shit;;
-Child of God wtf lol
The chat window was full of disgusted reactions at the appearance of words that smelled strongly of a cult.
Surprisingly, this was an expression Arties actually used while promoting her organization.
Saying she received some divine selection, that she could foresee the future, and so on.
If you gather all those fresh nonsense, it would be enough to fill a new humor collection book and then some.
“Arties had been gradually building up her forces even before the war broke out. She waited for the moment when Jibro forces’ invasion intensified and then ambushed Solomon government forces from the rear, which was ultimately successful.”
Due to the majority of Solomon’s domestic forces being deployed to the western front where Jibro forces were pouring in, they were caught even more helpless by the surprise attack of rebel forces.
No matter how superior the rebels’ armament level is, the reality is that it’s not as good as a country’s regular army.
So perhaps it was natural that attention was focused on the Jibro forces who came invading with much more threatening armored and air forces.
“Because the rebels caused trouble from behind, Solomon’s internal situation worsened and a two-front war was formed, so you can see her as essentially the one who prolonged the war further.”
-They got caught in a pincer attack
-It seems like there are still rebels remaining
-Huh?
-?
“There are still rebel remnants in Solomon. Arties is also still alive and hiding somewhere.”
We carried out several operations to capture Arties, and there were often opportunities that seemed likely to succeed, but in the end, they all failed.
It was because unexpected variables popped up from somewhere every time.
-That’s scary
-For real
“Still, she won’t be able to hold out for long. Even Arties won’t be able to move recklessly now that her forces have been extremely reduced. Won’t Solomon’s intelligence agency catch her soon?”
As I spoke nonchalantly towards the camera and shrugged my shoulders, viewers also expressed agreement as if that made sense.
Let’s stop here, as explaining the war background too elaborately might be boring.
“Well then, is there anything else you’re curious about?”
[PassingByMilitary Enthusiast – Thank you for the 1,000 won donation]
-Have you ever seen tanks in action?
[VEX – Thank you for the 1,000 won donation]
-When do you plan to do combat ration tasting content?
[Kukri – Thank you for the 1,000 won donation]
-Brother, have you ever thought about doing game broadcasts?
“Uh, um… uh…”
As soon as I closed the notepad I had displayed on the monitor screen and tried to change the topic, a shower of donations began to pour in.
Since the donation notifications disappeared quickly, I decided to display the donation record on the screen and read and answer them one by one.
“Let’s see… Have I ever seen tanks in action? Of course I have.”
-Ooooh
-Jibro probably rolled out Eastern Bloc tanks
-Solomon used self-developed tanks
-Aren’t the Jibro guys using antiques?
-Like T-34 or IS?
-Wtf what are all these words
-The military enthusiasts are excited
I smiled at the rapidly rising chat window and answered.
“Jibro forces mainly operated T-72M1s, and Solomon mainly operated the MK-V tank developed in their own country. In terms of tank generations and performance, Solomon’s side was superior, but in terms of quantity, Jibro forces were more dominant. As a result, Solomon’s armored forces ended up overwhelming Jibro forces.”
There’s already a big generational difference between the tanks, and Solomon even received support from the U.S. and went around with new equipment hanging all over, so there was no comparison.
This was the reason why Jibro forces’ armored strength was greatly weakened from the middle to late stages of the war.
-Have you ever seen a tank battle?
“If you mean a tank battle, I remember witnessing a Jibro force tank getting hit by a shell near the turret bearing, causing its ammunition storage to explode and the lid to eject. Since MK tanks usually have hard-kill systems installed, we didn’t have many occasions to carry out operations nearby, so I didn’t see many scenes of tanks fighting each other.”
-Oh I see
-Thank you for the answer
“It’s nothing.”
Leaving behind the viewer expressing gratitude, seemingly satisfied with my answer, I read the next question.
“VEX, you’re here again? I’ve ordered combat rations online, so they should arrive soon. I think I’ll be able to do the content tomorrow.”
-Combat rations…
-Somehow I feel like I ate them deliciously in the military
-That’s just nostalgia bias
When I returned after the war ended, I was quite surprised to realize how much the domestic delivery industry had developed.
I ordered through an app before starting the broadcast, and the expected arrival date is tomorrow.
Thinking the useless idle thought that it would be really nice if they could come when asked for supply delivery on the battlefield, I looked at the next question.
“Next is… game broadcast? If you mean game broadcast, it’s broadcasting while playing games, right?”
-Yes
-How about FPS?
-A war veteran’s FPS is somehow different
-A game broadcast conducted by an expert, wow
-This is precious
Ignoring the chat window reactions that kept coming up, I leaned back for a moment and fell into thought.
In fact, I had been thinking that relying solely on storytelling as the main content was insufficient.
No matter how much curiosity is stimulated by a broadcast where an actual war veteran shares stories, people will inevitably get bored if we keep talking about the same topic day after day.
Just looking at the stagnating growth rate of viewers when I turn on the broadcast, I can sense it.
Since there’s too little visual stimulation that people can find entertaining, those who feel bored are bound to leave.
In that sense, game broadcasting was an excellent choice.
By either specializing in one type of game or comprehensively covering various games, we can attract fans of those games as viewers, and from the perspective of existing viewers, game broadcasts where they can watch player reactions along with flashy effects and direction would be much less boring than a broadcast that just chats with a single notepad open.
Diverse and appealing content is an essential requirement for survival here.
If I combine chat broadcasts with game broadcasts, it could be the winning hand to break through the current stagnation.
“Sounds good. I was thinking about trying game broadcasts anyway.”
As I showed a positive response to game broadcasting, the reaction in the chat window was quite heated.
-Ooooh…
-Game broadcast is here!!!
-What game are you planning to play?
After thinking for a moment about the viewer’s following question, I answered.
“I don’t have any games prepared right now. Since I’ve already turned on the broadcast, shall we take a look at the store now?”
They say even a cow’s horn can be pulled out in one go, so there’s nothing we can’t do.
