Villain's Valor: A Noble Fantasy Resurrection

Chapter 328 It wasn't our fault

"What the hell is this place?" I stood in shock...

A vast void with bright spots, but the most striking thing was the enormous crystal fragments floating in space. The fragments seemed endless, even as far as the eye could see, I could spot hundreds of them... Suddenly, a great light exploded in that place... my vision changed again...

My vision became blurry as if I were looking through a terribly dirty mirror. I found myself... in the middle of a forest, it seemed strangely familiar... a throbbing pain assaulted my mind. Walking without any fixed direction, I continued forward... looking in all directions, I felt a great weight on my heart, looking up at the sky...

"But what...?" Experience new tales on My Virtual Library Empire

The sky was very strange, as if it had been shattered into a thousand pieces, it was fractured... Shaking my head... I continued forward, everything felt real, as if I were truly in the forest now. I have no idea how I ended up in this place...

A loud scream pulled me from my thoughts, the pain in my heart only grew heavier. Walking in the direction of the scream, each step I took felt as heavy as if I were carrying the weight of a mountain on my shoulders...

Gasping, I began to feel my heart rate increase... my vision became transparent...

*****

"I'm so tired, dad!" A boy cried out, panting as he tried to catch his breath... his body was on the ground, covered in sweat...

"Hey!" Bang!

The father received a blow to the head...

The young boy felt a gentle touch on his body... he looked at the woman, her eyes were filled with concern as she examined her son's body...

"I'm fine, mom, don't worry," the boy laughed heartily as he sat up. "I'm just tired." He stood up with a smile...

"See! Stop hitting me, I'm just teaching him to be a man," the father boasted, pounding his chest...

"Well... that," the mother gave an awkward smile and turned to her son with a radiant smile: "Let's go home, dinner's ready!"

*****

My steps were no longer leaden, walking with less difficulty... I followed the sound of what seemed like sobbing. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, and in my mind, a sweet memory of my parents surfaced, once again flooding me with guilt...

"I have to keep going," I told myself, feeling like I needed to reach the source of the strange sounds quickly, without letting the guilt stop me, I continued on the path...

*****

"My son is growing up so fast!" I watched as my mother pouted, crossing her arms...

The candles filled the table with warmth in the midst of the three of us... the boy's eyes shone brightly as he stared wide-eyed at the large cake in the middle...

"Hmm! He's already a man," the father said proudly...

"All that cake is for me, right?" The boy's eyes sparkled as he tugged on his mother's shirt: "Greedy boy! Only a part is yours, the rest belongs to mom!"

"That's not fair!" The boy pouted, but quickly relaxed and smiled: "Of course! It's for everyone!" He nodded his head...

*****

"Haa... haaa..."

Looking around, everything seemed more and more familiar... my vision grew much darker... the memories that my mind had forgotten came rushing back, filling me with great joy as I remembered the wonderful times I had with them...

In the middle of an open field was a pool of blood... my vision narrowed, and reality hit me like cold water over my head...

*****

"Dad, I want to go too!"

"You promised! For my birthday!"

"You said it yourself! I'm a man now!"

"I want to see! How cool my parents are!"

"I..."

"I..."

*****

"I'm so sorry... WAAAAA"

"It was all my fault... Dad... Mom..."

My eyes trembled as I looked at the young boy with brown hair, who covered his blood-stained hands with his eyes... the boy lamented constantly, begging for forgiveness as if he were trapped in an endless sea of regret...

My legs shook as I looked at the two bodies lying on the ground... holding my head, I felt like I was about to explode...

The two dead, dismembered bodies lying on the ground were my parents... my breathing grew heavy again... closing my eyes tightly, I tried to escape reality once more... sinking back into the abyss of darkness that always threatened to break me completely...

"WAAA! Mom!!! Dad!! Don't leave me!!"

Opening my eyes wide, the cries of my younger self pulled me out of the darkness. Raising my head... I looked at my younger self, kneeling as he desperately hugged my mother's head, trying in his innocence to reattach it to her neck...

My heart was about to explode, and the terrible pain in my head was driving me completely mad... Clenching my fists tightly, I slowly stood up... I can't waste time lamenting now... I think I understand what I need to do. I think I know why I'm in this place...

The pain in my heart increased as the smell of blood assaulted my nose. Holding back the urge to vomit with all my strength, I approached my younger self...

I placed a hand on his head... the boy looked up at me, his eyes were completely black, while tears of blood fell from them...

"It was our fault, wasn't it?" His words were filled with sadness...

"Our parents died because of us, didn't they?"

"It was our fault?"

"Mom hates us!!?"

"Does Dad hate us too!?"

The voice of my younger self grew more distorted... biting my lip hard... the guilt began to invade my body as well...

"If we hadn't come, they'd still be alive, right?"

The boy lowered his head... I took a deep breath... calmed my mind, calmed my heart, calmed my entire body...

Right now, I need to forgive my younger self and, at the same time, forgive myself...

"It wasn't our fault..."

"Liar!! Liar!!! They're dead!!"

"It wasn't our fault, after all, the ones who killed our parents were..."

The sky lit up, and the fragments began to reconstruct themselves again... the entire world shattered into a thousand pieces...
