Chapter 13: Chapter 12: Froze

"We don't have much time, Vickie! How long do you need?"

"Just a minute," Vickie replied, her voice steady despite the impending danger. "I need you to cover me. Keep an eye on our surroundings and warn me if anything comes close. Or just help me inform that little bird… or whatever it is."

"It's not a bird; it's called a drone," Eva said, looking up. "Daniel, can you please help us scan the—"

Before Eva could finish, Daniel flew the drone close to them. "Sorry, ma'am, it's called a drone. Okay?" he responded, his irritation audible through the drone's speakers. "You should know I don't like people addressing my babies like that! If you don't know her name, it's—"

Vickie cut in, unable to contain her laughter. "Don't tell me you gave that thing a name." Her eyes sparkled as she struggled to suppress her giggles, tears threatening to spill from her laughter.

Vickie's voice changed as Elena spoke. "Please don't be angry, Mr. Vickie can be annoying sometimes," Elena said, her tone low and filled with apology.

"And who told you to speak? I made it clear you can use only my ears and eyes, didn't I?" Vickie frowned, irritation flashing across her face.

"Eva, can you tell me what is happening over here?" Daniel asked, confusion evident in his voice as he processed the two voices coming from one body. "Or am I losing it?"

Eva nodded, her pulse pounding in her ears. She moved a few paces away from Vickie, trying to create a perimeter with her gaze. "I'm going to scan the area from down here. Then, Daniel, you fly up and look around from the sky. Okay?"

The shadows felt alive, creeping closer with every heartbeat. She could see movements in the dark—shapes shifting just beyond the edges of her vision.

"I don't know if this is a good time, but may I ask what happened to that vile creature?" Eva inquired, peering closely at their surroundings, keeping her voice steady despite her rising anxiety. The swaying trees and rustling shadows only added to her unease. "And why is it taking you so long?" she added.

"Almost there. That creature left after being burned by my flames and struck by my Crystal blades," Vickie explained, attempting to create a barrier of fire around them, but it kept fading into the sky. The dimly glowing sun hinted at dusk approaching, casting a light over Vickie's focused face. "Just a few more moments... come on!"

Eva turned her attention back to the dark forest, feeling the oppressive darkness around them. Whispers seemed to echo through the trees, unsettling her. She shook her head, trying to ignore the sounds. "Vickie, please hurry!" she urged urgently.

"I'm trying!" Vickie responded, her brow furrowed in concentration. "It's almost ready; just hold on a little longer!"

Eva took a deep breath, preparing herself. They needed to cooperate if they were going to survive. "I see something," she pointed towards a dark spot in the woods where shadows gathered. "It seems to be moving closer to us."

Vickie paused for a moment, glancing in the direction Eva was looking. "Keep your eye on it! I need a distraction," she said, urgency creeping into her voice.

With a surge of adrenaline, Eva grabbed a rock and hurled it into the bushes, creating a distraction. The movement intensified, revealing a tall figure exuding malevolence. "What is that?" Vickie gasped, her eyes wide.

"Not good," Eva muttered, backing up towards Vickie. "Keep going, Vickie!"

"Almost there," Vickie grunted, her fingers moving swiftly.

The creature lunged, and Eva quickly pulled Vickie out of harm's way. "Now!" Eva shouted, prepared for the next move.

With one last effort, Vickie activated the barrier, enveloping them in a pulse of pink light. The creature hissed and recoiled as the pink flames surrounded them

"Is your little bird friend here?" Vickie joked.

As Eva looked towards the origin of the fire, she noticed the drone engulfed in flames. She turned to Vickie, "What did you say about that lab freak?"

Suddenly, a voice from behind them interrupted, "She said I ran away, which is true, but I was aided by my friend over there, and now I'll finish the job." Rebirth emerged, ablaze with fire, preparing to unleash a massive fireball. "Since I can't defeat you, we'll all perish together," he declared.

Rebirth continued to taunt them as he channeled his power into one of it's hand Eva expressed anger at his persistence, and as the fireball grew, an unexpected change in weather occurred. Ice crystals began to fall, dampening the fire creature's flames and weakening his attack.

Eva noticed the drop in temperature and expressed concern. "Is it getting colder?, or is just me" she asked, observing their icy surroundings.

Vickie, maintaining the barrier, smirked knowingly. She spoke to Elena, the other half of their shared body, confidently. "He's trying to impress you by making an entrance, but he's no match for me when am in my own body. Get ready to explain how you people created these feral ," she said before focusing seriously on the situation.

The once powerful fireball in rebrith hand dwindled to mere embers as the frost continued to encase the forest. rebrith growled in frustration, realizing that his plan was foiled by the sudden onset of ice.

As the frost continued to encase the forest, rebirth found himself standing there, powerless and defeated, his flames extinguished by the icy onslaught. He looked around desperately, searching for the source of the sudden cold that had undone his fiery plans.

And then, emerging from the shadows, a figure stepped forward, clad in shimmering ice armor and radiating an aura of frigid power. It was Cryos, the ice elemental, his icy gaze locking onto the fire creature with unyielding resolve.

Vickie, sensing the shift in power, couldn't help but smile as she whispered to Elena, "He's in big trouble now. Cryos won't let him get away with this."

rebrith, knowing that he had met his match in Cryos, could do nothing but stand there, frozen in place as the ice elemental approached him with a chilling calmness. It was clear that his fiery reign of terror had come to an abrupt end in the face of Cryos' icy might.

The forest was now filled with a tense silence as Cryos and rebrith faced off, the elemental showdown raging on in a battle of fire and ice. And as the two powerful beings braced themselves for the inevitable clash, Vickie, Eva, and Elena stood ready, knowing that they were about to witness a showdown like no other.
