Chapter 236: I, Yue Qianchi, Have Said It Before
Fifteen minutes earlier, in a small secret realm.
"Song Chiyue, my junior brothers have already been crippled by you. They don't even know it was your Holy Land's doing. Why can't you spare their lives?"
Deep within the prison of the sect ruins, Yue Qianchi looked at the three junior brothers released by Song Chiyue, her face full of anguish.
What Song Chiyue wanted was her Innate Five Spirit Body. When paired with five single spiritual roots of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, this constitution could evolve into the Innate Five Extremes Body. If those five spiritual roots were mutated ones, it would become the even stronger Innate Primordial Saint Body. The Jade Pool's Yuyao needed this constitution to ensure her ascension to immortality, unlike the old monsters in the Void Abyss who could only cling to life.
Thus, she had threatened self-destruction to gain access to her three junior brothers.
Xu An, Zhen He, and Duan Feng - their spiritual roots had been extracted, their dantians destroyed, tortured beyond human recognition. No one knew what secret method the Jade Pool Holy Land had used, but these three talented junior brothers had been reduced to ordinary mortals, their Dao Bodies stolen.
Yun Suxin's condition was similar.
However, she was merely unconscious, her talents not yet extracted.
"Sects will always be sects - frogs at the bottom of a well with narrow vision." Song Chiyue played with her fingers nonchalantly. "What we pursue has never been dominance over the Cangyun Realm, but knocking on Heaven's Gate and treading the immortal path!"
"Your Holy Land has so many geniuses, and Yuyao has reached the Great Ascension Stage. What prevents you from knocking on Heaven's Gate and treading the immortal path? Why must you persecute sect disciples?"
Song Chiyue chuckled lightly. "Yue Qianchi, do you know how many years it's been since the Cangyun Realm had an immortal?"
"Five thousand years! A full five thousand years without a single successful ascension!"
Yue Qianchi froze. "Impossible, last year your Jade Pool..."
"That was fake. Failed the tribulation, struck dead by lightning. We just claimed ascension success to fool pitiful worms like you who dream of entering the Holy Lands." Song Chiyue's eyes brimmed with madness and disdain, though only she knew this contempt stemmed from fear - fear of the future and the heavenly tribulation.
No matter what, immortality was unattainable.
No amount of preparation could withstand the heavenly tribulation.
Whether it was a first-grade dantian, innate Dao Body, or mutated spiritual roots, no matter how powerful the magic tools prepared - all were useless before the heavenly tribulation.
The heavenly tribulation grew stronger with the cultivator's power.
Like an automatically rising threshold designed to prevent all from achieving immortality.
The unlucky were struck to ashes by the lightning, souls scattered.
The fortunate fell as loose immortals, clinging to life.
Those Great Ascension cultivators nearing the end of their lifespan who wished to survive longer could only hide in the Void Abyss to avoid the tribulation.
It was an extremely special place in the Cangyun Realm where the heavenly tribulation couldn't detect those inside.
Song Chiyue sat on a stone stool before Yue Qianchi, cheeks propped in her hands, a bitter smile of indeterminate emotion on her delicate face: "When Yuyao had only a few centuries of lifespan left, she was already bordering on madness."
"She didn't want to cling to life like the cowards in the Void Abyss, counting days even to emerge, nor did she want to die beneath the heavenly tribulation."
"So she conspired with the Burning Karma Monk from the Burning Purity Holy Land, who also neared the end of his lifespan. They hit it off immediately."
"At first they didn't know how to proceed, until they obtained a secret scripture called the 'Supreme Mysterious Heart Sutra' in a great secret realm. This scripture treated humans as vessels, advocating tempering and forging oneself as a Dao implement. Since it was a Dao implement, materials could be added like forging weapons."
"Thus they derived a fragmented scroll recording a method to extract cultivators' talents."
"Whether spiritual roots, dantians, or Dao Bodies - all could be refined into pills."
"Consuming such a pill would grant all the original owner's talents."
She rolled up her sleeve, revealing pale skin covered in twisted, centipede-like blood scars: "I'm not actually Song Chiyue either. I'm the Jade Pure True Person, elder of the Jade Pool. Song Chiyue was my direct disciple. Even after possessing her body for over a century, these possession scars haven't fully faded. When they disappear completely, I'll have fully mastered this body."
Yue Qianchi had suspected as much, but still found it hard to believe.
This plan was too insane - beyond demonic cultivation. It treated all cultivators as livestock to be harvested at will.
Demonic cultivators might slaughter a county or city, wreaking bloody havoc.
But Yuyao and the Burning Purity True Person's scheme aimed to destroy the entire Cangyun Realm.
If this method were exposed, Yue Qianchi could already envision cultivators slaughtering each other to steal talents.
She couldn't suppress a shudder.
"By telling you these Jade Pool secrets, I'm also telling you - don't think of escaping. You won't survive either."
Song Chiyue playfully lifted Yue Qianchi's chin, admiring her exquisite features with a giggle: "So beautiful, and so talented. If I'd been born with gifts like yours, I wouldn't need to possess others... Come quietly back to the Jade Pool. You'll be implanted with five mutated single spiritual roots. Until Yuyao needs your body, you'll live comfortably. You'll even become the Jade Pool's new Holy Maiden!"
Yue Qianchi stared at Song Chiyue.
Knowing she was actually the Jade Pure True Person explained the fake injuries.
Even a supreme-grade Thunderfire Talisman couldn't kill Song Chiyue. To reach the True Person level required at least late-stage Unity Realm.
Though the possessor couldn't unleash full Unity Realm power through Song Chiyue's body, that didn't mean they lacked Unity-level trump cards.
"Since I'm to be Yuyao's future vessel, I must be important to you, right? Song Chiyue... no, Jade Pure True Person, how about a deal?" Yue Qianchi glanced at her three junior brothers in the corner, hidden guilt and reluctance flashing in her eyes before she smiled at the True Person. "I'll go quietly with you in exchange for their safe exit from this realm. I won't harm myself either, guaranteeing Yuyao a perfectly healthy, generously proportioned Dao implement."
The Jade Pure True Person glanced at Yue Qianchi's chest and couldn't help curling her lip.
Admittedly, it was quite impressive.
Such natural endowments couldn't be acquired by stealing spiritual roots, dantians or Dao Bodies.
Only through possession.
"How touching, this sisterly devotion~" The Jade Pure True Person shook her head. The three disciples had already been implanted with tracking bugs, but she sighed theatrically: "But who am I to refuse? Normally this violates rules, but seeing your deep affection for Sword Pavilion disciples, I'll reluctantly agree. What do you want me to do?"
"I'll personally set up a teleportation array to send them somewhere only I know."
The True Person frowned. "I won't provide array materials."
"I have my own, no need for your concern." Yue Qianchi tightened her grip on the supreme-grade Thunderfire Talisman.
By embedding a miniature energy conversion array within the teleportation array, she could transform the talisman's massive energy into the array's power core. When the secret realm reopened, her junior brothers would be sent to safety.
Then the Patriarch would only need minimal divination to locate them.
...
The teleportation array was complete.
Standing before the array the Jade Pure True Person had prepared earlier, Yue Qianchi's tender gaze lingered on her three junior brothers.
The moment the realm opened, she would be sent to the Jade Pool Holy Land with no chance of escape.
In return, her junior brothers would reach safety.
But this wasn't secure enough.
Yue Qianchi clenched a secret sound transmission talisman.
Hummm—!
The realm gate opened, both arrays glowing simultaneously.
Gazing at her junior brothers' faces, the corners of her eyes reddened as the arrays accelerated, her hair ribbon fluttering wildly in the spiritual turbulence. When the final array pattern fully lit up, she suddenly closed her eyes and turned away, long lashes casting butterfly-wing shadows on her cheeks.
The next instant, the world spun.
She found herself in a spiritual energy-rich dungeon.
Cold stone pressed against her back, the stench of blood assaulting her nose.
Staggering, Yue Qianchi braced against the wall to survey her surroundings. In one corner curled the young mistress of Lingxi Valley, Yun Suxin, her disheveled hair revealing a deathly pale face crisscrossed with scabbed wounds.
Besides Yun Suxin, the dungeon held many other sect disciples, numerous faces familiar.
Yue Qianchi knew - she'd reached the Jade Pool Holy Land.
The secret sound talisman in her palm grew increasingly hot.
Biting her tongue to steady her voice, Yue Qianchi activated it: [Kill Song Chiyue. Now!]
A tremble escaped her final word.
As the message ended, the jade talisman crumbled to dust between her fingers.
"I said it before..."
Yue Qianchi's lips curved slightly as her thumb brushed the jade token at her waist engraved with "Sword Pavilion."
Moonlight filtering through the dungeon ceiling bathed half her figure, glistening on tear tracks not yet dry.
"With Yue Qianchi here... no one... will harm my Sword Pavilion juniors!!!"
