Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Confrontation in Cairo

As they approached Cairo, the sight that greeted Marcus and Logan left them both stunned.

The sky was filled with massive magnetic rings formed by gathered metal—or more accurately, the Earth's magnetic field itself had been manipulated, pulling countless metal objects upward to visualize the actual magnetic force lines.

"Is Erik trying to get himself killed?" Marcus couldn't help but mutter.

Large-scale manipulation of Earth's magnetic field could have catastrophic consequences, potentially causing the planet's magnetic field to destabilize and trigger a global disaster.

"He probably thinks he is already dead," Logan replied with a grim smile. "You did accidentally take his wife and daughter away. I'd say he's showing remarkable restraint."

During their flight, Marcus had shared updates about everyone, particularly the circumstances of his return.

Although Marcus had saved Erik's family, he'd taken them to Xavier's school. After witnessing his wife and daughter seemingly vanish before his eyes with no way to find the culprit, Erik had likely descended into madness.

The current scene wasn't surprising—even something more devastating would seem normal given Erik's state of mind.

"It wasn't intentional. Besides, he and I arrived at the same time. If he'd stayed a moment longer, he would have seen his wife and daughter."

As he spoke, Marcus suddenly remembered Pietro's appearance at the school and asked with interest:

"What do you think would happen if Erik saw his son?"

"I imagine he'd tear that pyramid in front of us to pieces out of pure emotion."

They had reached their destination. Before them stood an enormous pyramid surrounded by countless magnetic rings.

This pyramid dwarfed any they had seen before, its craftsmanship far more intricate than typical examples, with countless detailed reliefs engraved across its surface.

"Building yourself a tomb already? That's presumptuous," Marcus remarked sarcastically as he landed the plane on a relatively flat area nearby.

As they disembarked, they spotted Hank and the others arriving in the X-Jet. The group was clearly in a hurry, hastily landing before rushing toward the pyramid.

"Look over there, Logan." Marcus pointed to a silver-haired young man among Hank's group. "That's Erik's son. I'm increasingly curious about Erik's reaction when they meet."

"Your taste for drama never changes," Logan laughed. "But I should probably keep my distance from Erik."

As he spoke, adamantium claws emerged from between his knuckles with a metallic SNIKT.

The metal-filled sky was evidence enough of Erik's power. With an adamantium skeleton, Logan would be at a severe disadvantage in this confrontation.

"I'm going to watch the show," Marcus announced, promptly vanishing from Logan's sight.

Logan wasn't surprised—he had long grown accustomed to Marcus's sudden disappearances.

Cracking his neck, Logan grimaced as he headed toward Hank's group. It felt strange not having a cigar between his teeth.

Meanwhile, Pietro had sped Raven away from the main group. Raven hoped to reason with Erik, while Pietro wanted to finally meet his biological father face-to-face.

No sooner had they departed than a thunderbolt struck the ground. A white-haired woman descended from the sky amid the lightning, blocking the path of the remaining X-Men.

Like Erik, Storm's abilities had been greatly enhanced by Apocalypse's power.

Under her control, lightning repeatedly struck the ground around the group, forcing Hank and the others to scatter and dodge.

This was merely the beginning. Storm raised her hand slightly, causing dust and debris to rise around her. A localized cyclone formed, pulling in cars and rubble from the surrounding ruins and hurling them toward the X-Men.

Facing the lightning from above and the projectiles from all sides, Alex stepped forward to counterattack.

Two red energy blasts shot from his fists, instantly piercing through the flying cars and debris. As he moved, these projectiles exploded one after another.

Behind him, Scott adjusted his visor. Unlike his brother, he couldn't control his power naturally, but his specialized eyewear allowed him to harness it effectively.

ZZZZZZT!

Red beams erupted from his eyes, and together with Alex, they destroyed the remaining flying objects as Scott turned his head.

Hank, embracing his bestial strength, grabbed a massive slab of wall and spun around, suddenly hurling it toward Storm as she manipulated the elements.

Confronted by the enormous projectile, Storm—inexperienced in actual combat—froze momentarily, forgetting to use her powers to evade.

She stumbled backward, losing her balance and nearly falling into the ruins.

"HELP!!!"

At her cry, a flash of pink energy sliced through the flying wall, splitting it in two.

As the dust settled, a woman wielding a glowing pink energy blade stood protectively before Storm.

"Thank you, Psylocke," Storm breathed in relief. Without Psylocke's intervention, she would have been crushed.

"Stay focused. Let's finish them together!"

The pink energy sword in Psylocke's hand transformed into a whip. With a graceful motion, she lashed it toward Alex and the others.

The whip demonstrated frightening power—as it swept across broken walls and ruins, it sliced through solid stone with perfect precision, leaving impossibly smooth cuts.

"Everyone, take cover!" Hank shouted, throwing himself to the ground to avoid the energy whip. Its destructive capability exceeded his expectations.

Suddenly, the whip seemed to hit an invisible barrier, pulling taut in mid-air.

"No wonder Marcus complained about you the entire way here. Your combat skills are still as terrible as ever!"

Logan had caught the whip with his adamantium claws, a sardonic grin on his face.

"Logan? You're here too?"

Hank couldn't hide his surprise. Ten years ago, Logan had been flung away by Erik, and they'd lost track of him despite their extensive search.

"Not just me. Marcus is here too."

Logan glanced in the direction Raven and Pietro had gone, then suddenly pulled hard on the whip entangled with his claws, yanking Psylocke off-balance.

While this battle raged, Raven and Pietro faced their own impasse. Pietro couldn't penetrate Erik's magnetic field barrier no matter how fast he ran.

"What are you doing here? And Raven..."

Erik had sensed Pietro's attempts to breach his defenses and addressed him coldly, recognizing the young man who had freed him from the Pentagon.

"I..." Pietro faltered, unsure how to express what he had come to say.

"He's here to find his father."

Marcus's voice cut through the tension as he materialized before the magnetic field. With a casual gesture, he disrupted the swirling metal barrier, creating a sizable opening in the previously impenetrable defense.

Walking through with a smile, Marcus held up two fingers as he faced Erik.

"I have two pieces of news for you. First, this young man's father is the famous Magneto—which means you!"
