What? I am a Wisp!

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Slight Change

The goblins were acting like they had just won a great war.

Andy floated quietly at the edge of the celebrations, watching as the goblins danced around the trapped monster, who was now utterly humiliated, tangled in vibes and unable to move. It was almost comical, the way the goblins cheered and patted each other on the back, treating their victory as if they had single-handedly defeated a whole army.

"great wisp!" one of them yelled, bouncing over with a giant wooden spoon as a makeshift weapon. "we win because of you, thank you!"

Andy forced a smile. "yeah, yeah, no need for the hero worship,", he said, though part of him felt an odd sense of pride inside of him. Sure, it has been more of a luck than a skill, but the goblins didn't seem to mind. They had won, and that made him feel .. important. At least my luck is useful, not useless.

But as the celebrations continued, Andy constantly looked towards the Edge forest, where the trees thinned out into a vast, unexplored landscape. Lira floated nearby casually observing the festivities with a knowing look in her eyes.

"you are thinking about leaving, aren't you?" lira asked, her voice soft.

Andy glanced at her, surprised. "what? No, of course not. I mean…I am just curious?" he looks hesitant on how to explain it. "It just…I still don't feel like I want to be some goblin god or whatever. It's just…my mind constantly rejecting the idea."

"I know you don't like it," Lira said, her tone a little gentle now, "but it's happening. You are in charge of them whether you like it or not."

Andy sighed, looking down at the goblins who were still making the same ridiculous parade around the monster. The victory had boosted their morale. They constantly looked for him to guide them, even though he said something stupid. They believed him. There was a strange weight t-that and expectation That hung over him. Like an invisible chain.

"you think I am going okay? Andy asked, a little uncertain. "I mean, except for the monster thing, that I made spin around and fall into vibes. What about other things."

Lira shrugged. "if doesn't have to be flashy to be effective. The goblins respect you now, and more than that, they all unconditionally trust you. You have got them organized, you have kept them safe, that's more than enough for them to call you a leader to them."

Andy frowned. "but what if I screw it up? What if I make the wrong call? What if I lost control? I am just a guy who can't do a simple things. I am not ready for this."

"You are not alone, Andy," Lira said, her eyes softening. "you have got me. #!₹ you have got the goblins. They might be a bit…eccentric, but they are loyal, you are not alone in this."

That made Andy feel a little better, but that nagging feeling didn't go away. The goblins were becoming more dependent on him with every passing day, and part of him was afraid that one wrong move would send everything spiraling.

As if on cue, one of the goblins waddled up to him, holding a strange, glowing stone. "great wisp," it said, bowing dramatically "you, gift, for, you" to gratitude our!"

Andy took the stone, confused. "uh…thanks?"

The goblin grinned, its sharp teeth gleaming. "it's from a mountain powerful for wisp.

Lira leaned in, whispering to Andy. "it is a magical artifact. They probably think it will make you even more powerful. Goblins don't know much about them.

Andy stared at the glowing stone in his hand. It felt warm, almost pulsing with mana. It wasn't anything spectacular, but the goblins thought it was an offering worthy of their god. The idea of being treated like some revered figure still feels a little unsettling.

"what do I do with this?", Andy asked, looking at the stone.

Lira gives a small shrug. "I don't know. Maybe you could try absorbing it, I suppose. It might give you some new magical ability."

"great. More powers," Andy said dryly. "I Just don't want to be accidentally worshipped by any other group. Is that too much to ask?"

Lira chuckled. "I don't think so. But I will tell you this, you may not be ready for it, but you have already taken on the role of a leader, even if you don't realize it. And whether you like it or not, you are going to have to figure out how to lead them."

Andy's eyes narrowed as he looked at the stone again. "yeah, but what if I don't want to lead them? What if I just want to…be let alone?"

Lira smirked. "you can't exactly escape your role now, can you? You are their god, their leader. They won't leave you alone. And besides, you have more influence over them than you think. They look to you for direction."

That wasn't a comforting thought.

As the night wore on and the goblins celebrated their victory over the monster, Andy's thoughts grew more distracted. He could see the future stretching out before him, it was full of goblins, strange magical artifacts, and the constant pres6to be something he wasn't ready to be.

A god. A leader.

He wasn't sure he was ready for all of that.

But as he floated up into the night sky, watching the goblins below, one thing became clear. Whether he was ready or not, his role as their leader had already begun. And that meant his next decision whatever it might be would have to be made with them in mind.

The next adventure, the next challenge, was out there waiting for him. And he had no choice but to face them.

"Alright," Andy muttered to himself, staring out into the horizon. "let's see where this crazy ride takes me."

Lira floated beside him. "wherever it is, we are in this together."

"yeah," Andy said with a weary sigh, "I guess we are."

The future was uncertain, but for once, Andy felt like he might just be able to handle it. He hopes so. Together.
