What the hell is making games in the Ninja World?

Chapter 94: Chapter 79.2 : Sand's Situation!!

It was in such circumstances that, on the fourth day after meeting Orochimaru, Uchiha Kai unexpectedly ran into a 'familiar face.'

The reason he said so was that, according to his memory, the person had never been to Konoha before, yet now they were directly appearing, and it was in the Konoha arcade.

Originally, Uchiha Kai had been cooped up at home playing games, but today he felt a bit tired and decided to go out for a walk, check the arcade's business situation, and that's when he saw the person teaming up with others to play Left 4 Dead in one corner.

As the holder of the mental network, there was one thing Uchiha Kai hadn't told anyone: he had actually left a backdoor in Genjutsu games, granting him 'admin privileges' in all of them.

These admin privileges didn't come in handy most of the time, but if he wanted to see how someone was playing or interfere with the game, he could simply link to the game through the mental network.

Moreover, this link didn't require direct contact; it could be done remotely as long as it was within a certain range.

For a more specific analogy, think of it like 'Bluetooth.'

With that in mind, Uchiha Kai sat in the back office of the arcade, a special one he had left for himself. Through the mental network's backend controls, he secretly entered 'that person's' game.

And what he saw was surprising: the future person who would defeat the Third Kazekage and possess the power to destroy a small country—Sasori of the Red Sand—was now like a game addict, completely absorbed in the game.

Also, this guy has a special hobby: when he encounters anything related to mechanical puppets in the game, he becomes completely engrossed, watching and touching them as if he wants to dive in and study them closely.

His teammates would just helplessly wait for Sasori to finish his little viewing session.

These teammates didn't complain, though, because Sasori was no longer teaming up with strangers. His squad was now made up of Sand ninjas—the people from the Sand diplomatic team had finally been dragged into the game by him.

Anyway, these missions were supposedly for experiencing and investigating Genjutsu games, and the cost came directly from the team's budget.

Uchiha Kai observed carefully for over an hour and finally confirmed that Sasori was indeed addicted to Genjutsu games, and not just because there were puppets and mechanisms in Left 4 Dead that fascinated him. It was because the game was genuinely, incredibly fun.

Don't be fooled by Sasori's future "artistic" persona—right now, he was just a teenager.

Perhaps his painful and loveless upbringing made him a deep thinker, and his perspective was unconventional, but age is something that can't be fooled.

He hadn't been addicted to play before because there hadn't been anything truly fun enough in the Ninja World to capture Sasori's attention, but Genjutsu games—these kinds of entertainment that would be a step down in the real world—were irresistible once you truly experienced them. The allure for this teenager was fatal.

Especially since no one could control him, and no one realized the dangers of game addiction. It was only natural that the famous Sasori of the Red Sands became a gaming addict.

And Uchiha Kai, after confirming Sasori's gaming addiction, couldn't calm down for a long time.

After all, the Sasori he remembered was part of an "artistic" duo, a collector of Kage figurines, yet now, he had turned into a gaming addict. It was hard to know how to react.

With Sasori like this, could he still go on to kill the Third Kazekage, triggering the Third Shinobi World War as history had gone?

Uh... that's a question worth thinking about.

Maybe... after the Third Kazekage found out Sasori had become a gaming addict, he decided to try to correct him.

Perhaps he forced Sasori to quit the game, leading to Sasori harboring resentment, and in a fit of rage, he killed the Third Kazekage?

This...

It doesn't seem impossible, does it?

Uchiha Kai touched his chin, deep in thought.

Then, as he noticed Sasori obsessively staring at the puppet mechanism, a sudden idea popped into his mind.

He remembered that before his journey to this world, someone had said that Sasori was actually a super genius in engineering in the ninja world.

If he received the correct and scientific education, he would have the ability to create a real Gundam in the ninja world.

After all, the various technologies and sciences in the ninja world are quite abstract, and many technologies that are impossible on Earth aren't an issue in the ninja world.

So...

Should I recruit Sasori?

"Huff... finally, it's over..."

At the inn where the Sunagakure delegation was staying, Rasa returned exhausted, his expression a bit weary, but his eyes showed excitement.

Because the Genjutsu game trade with Konoha had finally been concluded.

Although both sides had agreed on the general direction of the trade the day after meeting Sarutobi Hiruzen, the specific details of the deal had to be carefully negotiated, and those negotiations were the real challenge.

Rasa had spent the last few days with his two assistants negotiating with Konoha's team, led by Nara clan members, in long and mentally taxing discussions.

Both sides were meticulous, arguing over every single benefit.

Konoha's side was focused on political achievements, so even Nara clan members had to put in their best effort.

On the other hand, Sunagakure was poor, so they had to fight for every bit of benefit, trying to gain the greatest outcome at the smallest cost.

In the end, the result didn't reach Rasa's maximum expectations, but it was still a deal with minimal cost.

The main reason was that, for Konoha, it was just a matter of earning more or less.

So, once the results seemed close enough, Sarutobi Hiruzen quickly agreed—this Third Hokage had always remembered that in Uchiha Kai's proposal for the Genjutsu game promotion plan, it had emphasized that market expansion was more important than profit during the early stages. Once the market was captured, greater profits would follow.

Though Hiruzen didn't fully understand the business side of things, the think tank had advised that focusing on market capture was the right move, so he went with it.

For Rasa, this negotiation was more exhausting than fighting a battle, but the results were satisfactory.

Sunagakure had secured the rights to import the Genjutsu games, even the uncensored versions.

The only catch was that the price was three times higher than the cost in Konoha, and the quantity they could import was limited.

Sunagakure also had to allow Konoha's game merchants to open gaming halls in the Land of Wind and provide protection to prevent them from being destroyed.

However, the gaming halls would also pay a commission to the Sunagakure ninja guards, which could be considered a contracted task.

In Rasa's eyes, the conditions for this deal were quite favorable. He had expected Konoha to have their people work for free as guards, but Konoha's merchants were still willing to pay for proper employment.

This was a very good deal for Sunagakure, and it could help somewhat with the village's employment issues.

Yes, the poor Sunagakure had always struggled with employment.

As the weakest village, they were often overlooked by mission issuers, which meant Sunagakure could take on very few missions, leading to employment difficulties for ordinary ninjas.

If Konoha's arcade could go through the proper channels and hire Sunagakure ninjas as guards, it would undoubtedly solve many employment issues.

Although most of the Land of Wind is covered in sand, there are still a few cities with arcades. If each arcade hires ten Sunagakure ninjas, it could solve employment for dozens of people.

Moreover, Sunagakure could have these positions run in shifts, solving even more employment problems—after all, for Sunagakure ninjas, who are so poor they only have the spirit of enduring hardships to be praised, the amount of money isn't the issue.

As long as there is work, it's enough.
