When Fire meets Earth เมื่อไฟพบดิน

Chapter 8: eight

Some days later....

Thornin had gotten better.

"Don't you think you should still rest for some days. I don't want you falling sick." Arya pleaded with him.

"Arya, if I stay cooped up in this room, I will practically run mad" Thornin complained.

"Well I have liked being cooped up in the room with you." she said with a pout.

Thornin smiled and crouched in front of her.

"Don't you want to go out once in a while, go to town or something?"

"I don't think that's a good idea." she objected immediately.

"Why not?"

"Where would I go? Everyone hates me"

He held her hands, rubbing them gently.

"I don't hate you, Pim doesn't hate you, Lada doesn't hate you. Not everyone hates you."

"I don't know, I am not really up to it."

"Its okay, whenever you are ready, just know that I am here for you." he told her.

She smiled and nodded.

Thornin watched her as she sat quietly on the bed. There were still a lot of things he didn't know about her.

He knew there were walls around her that he wasn't close to breaking.

"I will be back soon" he told her.

"Okay." she replied with a smile.

He left the room and headed to the mansion.

Thankfully there was no sign of any of the Rattanakul brothers or the Lady. He wasn't in the mood to deal with any of them.

He knocked on the study door lightly, waited for some seconds and then opened it.

Lord Adisorn looked up and smiled when he saw it was Thornin.

"Thornin, I am glad to see you are okay now."

"I am okay, thank you sir for everything. For calling the doctor and even taking the clothes off and cleaning my injuries. I am just a lowly servant, I didn't deserve all that" Thornin said with his head bowed.

Lord Adisorn stood up and went closer to Thornin.

"Oh my boy, how can you say you are a lowly servant?" he asked him.

"But that is what I am sir. You treat me nicely but at the end, I am just a servant."

Lord Adisorn smiled and ruffled his hair.

"You seem to have a lot on your mind don't you?" he asked Thornin.

"I couldn't protect her"

"I am sure Arya doesn't blame you for what happened."

"But I blame myself."

Lord Adisorn sighed. "Thornin, I have spoken to your lady, such a thing won't happen again, I assure you."

Thornin looked at him with appreciation.

"Thank you master."

"No thank you, remember?"

Thornin smiled.

"How was your trip master?" he remembered that Lord Adisorn had gone on a trip before everything happened.

"It was okay, I got you something."

Thornin's eye lit up.

Lord Adisorn chuckled and opened his drawer. He brought out a small shiny rock and handed it to Thornin.

"It looks really pretty"

"Well it's good you like it."

"Master, I am ready to get back to work."

Lord Adisorn frowned. "Are you sure you don't need more days to recover?"

"I am already fine. I have already taken a lot of days off, I can't afford for more money to be deducted."

Lord Adisorn scoffed, "Thornin, do you really think money would be deducted from your salary? No money would be deducted."

"Th.... I mean, I am really appreciative. But I still want to go back to work."

"Fine, tomorrow you can start working."

"Why not today?" Thornin pleaded.

"If you protest, I will extend it to next week." lord Adisorn warned.

"Tomorrow is okay" Thornin quickly agreed.

"Have a nice day Thornin." lord Adisorn dismissed him.

"You too master." Thornin replied and left.

Thornin went back to the room. Arya was still on the bed, she was reading a book.

"How did it go?" she asked him.

"it went well, Lord Adisorn cleared me to go back to work and he also said no money would be deducted."

"Lord Adisorn is nice." Arya observed.

"He is a really nice man." Thornin agreed.

He brought out the stone the lord had given him earlier.

"What is that?" Arya asked.

"It's a shiny stone, Lord Adisorn always brings me one anytime he goes on a trip."

"Can I see it?" Arya asked.

"Sure." Thornin handed it to her.

Arya studied the stone. "You said he brings you this kind of stones anytime he goes on a trip?" she asked.

"Yes, I have a whole box of them." Thornin replied, he stood up and brought a box down from the wardrobe.

He opened it and Arya gasped. The box was filled with such stones, more than fifty of them.

"Do you know why he gets you this stones?" she asked.

"I was obsessed with collecting stones at the orphanage. I had a whole collection, sadly, Lady Amara threw them away, the first week I came here. I was sad and depressed until Lord Adisorn brought me back one stone on a trip. Since then, it became our secret tradition that he would get me a stone on a trip. And they are so pretty."

Of course they were pretty, to Thornin, they were just pretty stones given to him by a man he looked up to. But Arya knew different, they weren't just pretty stones, these were precious stones. Sapphires, Emeralds, Rubies, Diamonds, Opals, Onyx, quartz, the box contained them all.

Lord Adisorn obviously knew they were precious stones. The question, was why he was giving a servant, precious stones.

"Thornin, they are really beautiful. I think you should keep them safe so lady Amara doesn't throw them away again." she advised him.

"You are right. I will keep them safe." he told her.

Arya had a very strong intuition. Her refusal to listen to it had been what had made Saran and Wanna keep their little secret until she found out.

Now her intuition told her something was fishy in this house with the Rattanakul brothers and she was determined to find out what it was.
