Chapter 163 Blood Rose
Li Xiu now somewhat reminisced about Chu Jun; if Chu Jun were here, he could easily find out what kind of spirit was outside.
Unfortunately, Chu Jun wasn't here, and Li Xiu could only stand at the crossroads, watching as the city gate shook incessantly, as if it might crack open at any moment.
It's unknown what material the city gate of Black Death City is made of, for even though it looks like it might explode open at any moment, it still hasn't been damaged despite being hit for so long.
"Could it be that the spirit can't get in? If so, the Godslayer Shrine miscalculated this time." Just as Li Xiu was speculating, the sound of the gate being rammed suddenly stopped.
Li Xiu felt something was amiss, and then saw the city gate slowly lifting itself.
The originally fixed winch also began to turn.
Soon Li Xiu discovered it wasn't the gate lifting itself but a hand in black metal mesh gloves raising it.
Gradually, the gate was lifted above the person's head, revealing someone who looked more like a human than a spirit outside.
The person wore black metal gloves on both hands, with their body wrapped tightly in a black cloak and robe and a black metal mask obscuring their face, making it impossible to discern their appearance or even whether they were human or spirit.
However, Li Xiu felt they should be a spirit; after all, how could a human be in such a place, and how could a human possess such overwhelming strength? Unfortunately, the distance was too far to catch their scent and determine if they were indeed a spirit.
With one hand, they lifted the gate above their head and walked in; as soon as they released their supporting hand, the gate fell with a bang, shaking the entire ground of Black Death City.
"Such overwhelming strength!" Li Xiu knew the gate wasn't easily lifted, else the powerful spirits outside would've barged in long ago.
The ability to easily open the gate inside was due to the specialized mechanism of the winch, far simpler than opening the gate from the outside.
Li Xiu had previously tried to open the gate from outside, but even with all his spirits helping, it barely budged.
The spirit could single-handedly lift the gate, undoubtedly a terrifyingly powerful spirit, one Li Xiu couldn't contend with, even if he summoned all his spirits to assist.
Unless he had Demon Armor, but where could he find that in a place like this?
The spirit glanced up, meeting Li Xiu's gaze, and the only part of them Li Xiu could see was their eyes.
Those were violet eyes, beautiful yet otherworldly.
Li Xiu immediately turned and left. With the Godslayer Shrine's claim of a Super Spirit appearing, and without Demon Armor, he had no capacity to fight and could only retreat to the stone house to possibly save his life.
Li Xiu swiftly rushed to the door of the stone house, retrieving all his spirits and only taking essential Demon Cores, Demon Spirit Rings, Skill Rings, and Talent Gemstones, leaving the rest behind.
He tapped the stone lion's head three times on each side, and with a creaking sound, the door opened.
Li Xiu carried his belongings inside, and before he could turn to shut the door, it closed on its own.
"Who are you? Why have you come here?" a slightly husky woman's voice reached Li Xiu's ears.
The voice differed from the usual softness of a woman, more like a smoker's throat but still pleasant, carrying a unique charm.
Though he still hadn't seen the woman's figure, just her voice painted a picture in Li Xiu's mind.
A sensual yet dangerously alluring woman sits at a bar counter, one hand holding a cigarette, the other playing with a glass, casting an eye-melting gaze at him.
Without even seeing the person, Li Xiu almost responded aloud.
Fortunately, he remembered the three things the Unparalleled King told him, forcefully holding back his impulse to answer, and took in everything inside the room.
Unlike the stone house where the Godslayer Shrine was found, this one was filled with ancient, artistic furniture, many decorations, and even some paintings hanging on the walls.
The ancient fireplace crackled with firewood, warming the whole room without overheating it.
Not far from the fireplace was a simple yet comfortable-looking sofa, with a metal frame and cushions and pillows wrapped in genuine leather, inviting one to sit and sink into a comfortable posture.
But Li Xiu resisted the urge, remembering the Unparalleled King's warning not to touch anything in the room.
On the left was a bar counter, with a wine cabinet behind it, filled with variously styled bottles, some transparent ones visibly containing liquid, not just empty bottles.
On the right was a wooden staircase leading to the second floor, with the space below crafted into a bookcase, filled with books, none of whose titles Li Xiu recognized, as they weren't in any script he knew.
