Chapter 716: 248 Super Supreme Outcome, Highly Anticipated Bai Fu [5k]_3
The election could no longer continue.
Under emergency conditions and much to his satisfaction, the Leader announced the nation's entry into a state of war, achieving his goal of clinging to power.
His actions were denounced by Lister and other factions.
"What are you doing, you waste? What makes you think you have a right to show your face here?"
They accused the Leader and Nellis of collusion and declared he had no right to remain in his position.
Their war of words raged with growing intensity.
Bai Fu, who had been watching the spectacle unfold from Lockheed, was almost bored with the show.
It was her first time realizing just how many factions existed within the Tem civilization.
If her power had grown more slowly, she might have had to engage in similar squabbles when dealing with the major powers on Ancestral Origin Star.
"A fist is such a great thing."
After days of verbal clashes, the situation finally escalated into open conflict.
On the surface, Nellis and Gustav were each other's greatest rivals, but this time, they were tacitly in agreement to not target each other and instead focused on taking down Lister.
Lister might not have seemed very smart, but he controlled a substantial army. Such a man posed a great threat and needed to be eliminated quickly. Otherwise, if he acted impulsively and launched an all-out attack, anyone would suffer hefty losses.
Bai Fu's relationship with Nellis was that of a hired hand, so she didn't participate directly in the war. Instead, she was busy traveling between Nellis's bases and fortresses to protect the supply routes and occasionally carrying out surprise attacks.
She was truly enjoying herself this time, and so were the Players who followed her into battle.
Earning Experience by the boatload!
After completing four consecutive Tasks, combined with her previous savings, Bai Fu had now accumulated over two billion Experience points.
She planned to save even more. If she couldn't obtain any valuable Skills, she intended to use all her Experience to level up, reaching Level 150 and triggering the Dominator Transferring Professions Task.
The Players, now, were each wealthy individuals in their own right.
Even the least active Players had three to four million Experience points after five sorties. Powerhouses like Patrick and Sky-Surpassing Sword Qi had at least ten million each.
However, despite the Players becoming wealthier, exploiting them for Experience wasn't any easier than before for Bai Fu.
As their Levels increased, they needed more and more Experience for themselves.
Fortunately, Bai Fu had a very large number of Players under her command, and regularly harvesting Experience from them met her needs for leveling up.
When it came to the sheer number of Players, after the fifth battle, the various powers finally realized something was amiss.
Why did it seem that wherever Bai Fu went, the Undying People would rebel?
That didn't make sense.
Did Bai Fu have some special magic that incited rebellion among the Undying, or were those Undying People actually her spies planted everywhere?
The factions had initially planned to deploy Players on a large scale into the war, but this anomaly made them reconsider.
No one wanted to risk their own Undying People being lured away by Bai Fu in the heat of battle, causing a shift for the worse.
...
Black Light Governor District.
Ranie was secretly communicating with someone in his room.
In this civil war, so far, Ranie's involvement wasn't very high because he had not been Governor for long and didn't command as many loyal troops as other factions.
In such circumstances, it was difficult for him to make any significant moves.
But it would be a mistake to underestimate him.
The person currently contacting him was none other than Yuan Yi, one of the Super Supreme Trio of Managers from the Arcane Library in the Edge World!
Yuan Yi, as always, was clad in a wide Magic Robe, holding a curved black staff in his hand. He looked like an old gentleman, but no one would dare underestimate him because of this appearance.
Among the Super Supreme Trio of the Edge World, Yuan Yi was the oldest and also the strongest and most mysterious.
Both Lupus and the Oath Lord had sought to spar with him and both had been defeated.
"I have confirmed it: the Undying had no prior connections with Bai Fu. They are not spies sent by her, and their Abilities aren't from her either. They're simply captivated by Bai Fu's charisma and have ended up turning coats on the battlefield to join her,"
Yuan Yi's voice had a weight to it, exuding an aura of unspoken authority.
"That puts my mind at ease," Ranie nodded and then shook his head, "Charisma, miraculous charisma. Why is she so attractive to the Undying? Is it just because she looks good?"
Yuan Yi offered no further explanation.
He wasn't interested in the Undying; he was truly intrigued by Bai Fu herself.
"If she hasn't been hiding her true power, then her potential is the highest I've heard of lately. It took her only four and a half years to advance from A-level to Upper Catastrophe. If her development continues smoothly, she may well earn the right to be considered my equal. Such a promising individual is wasted under the Oath Lord, who doesn't know how to teach."
"?!"
Ranie was taken aback.
"Teacher."
His voice trembled slightly. To be considered an equal, aside from the seasoned giants of old, was the highest praise he had heard from Yuan Yi's lips.
But could Bai Fu genuinely command such high regard from the Teacher?
In the presence of the Oath Lord, the Teacher had only ever said "not too bad."
Yuan Yi spoke calmly, "I am going to call for a peace conference to broker negotiations among all factions of the Tem Civilization."
Peace?
Without determining a victor, it was clear that the Tem civilization couldn't achieve true peace, especially since the Three Major Cosmic Civilizations were likely exacerbating the unrest.
Ranie knew well that if even he understood this concept, the Teacher must too.
Therefore, this so-called peace conference had to be a facade.
But what was the Teacher's real purpose?
Ranie didn't have the answer at the moment, and he didn't dare ask directly. His Teacher wasn't as benign as he appeared.
...
Two days later.
While resting near Lockheed, Bai Fu suddenly received an invitation.
"Peace Summit."
"Inviter: Manager Yuan Yi of the Arcane Library."
"Huh?"
