Chapter 210
Chapter 15: Strange Objects
The battle ended even more easily than expected.
Vilyric had considered the possibility of the opponent becoming berserk or undergoing a second mutation, but those situations never occurred.
With Leila delivering a blow to the man’s leg, sending him crashing to the ground, and conjuring several phantom spears to firmly bind him, all three battlefields fell silent.
“Legends?! How could there suddenly be so many…”
Awen, who had sensed from the girls’ performance that they were far stronger, wore an incredulous expression.
If it were just Vilyric as a legendary figure, he might have managed to remain composed, but the presence of four legendary-level warriors banding together in a country that didn’t even have one legendary warrior would surely cause a sensation—especially in a small nation like Quay.
Who on earth are they?
Stealing a glance at Awen not far away, Vilyric chose to ignore him.
These people were not good news.
From their various actions, it was clear they could not be unaware of the impending changes to their three companions, yet they still sent them back to the Adventurer’s Guild at full speed.
In short, they didn’t have confidence in rescuing their companions on their own and wanted to leverage the power of experts within the guild.
Or rather, it was like forcibly tying them all aboard the same sinking ship.
Selfish or shrewd, the result was that a serious disaster erupted in the outside world. Even though they had issued warnings in advance and stood at the forefront of resistance, it didn’t change the fact that they would have to take responsibility for the incident.
Because Vilyric had already noticed this point, she had been giving Awen a cold shoulder.
With only her remaining Cat Daughter, Mier, by her side, Vilyric approached the girl adventurer who had been knocked out by Xiao Guang’s snap of her fingers—a woman in her twenties. The Priestess squatted beside her and placed a finger on a protruding “spike” from her wound.
Swoosh!
Despite being unconscious, the vine-like foreign object suddenly erupted upon contact with Vilyric’s fingertip, actively trying to burrow into the Black-haired Girl’s body!
“Seeking death!”
A sharp flash of white light flickered by, and before anyone present even realized what had happened, the vine lunging at Vilyric was cleanly severed into several smooth pieces, falling to the ground.
The Giant Dragon, having transformed its pale small hand into a dragon claw for just a moment, wore an expression of disdain.
“Master, this thing is too reckless. Do you want me to take care of it?”
“…Hold on.”
Noisy footsteps echoed from outside; it seemed many people were approaching, but Vilyric paid them no mind.
When Xiao Guang mentioned “taking care of it,” she was definitely referring to eliminating both the person and the vines together, something the Priestess wouldn’t allow.
“Seal.”
Drawing a special symbol in the air with her finger, a golden light form rapidly descended, imprinting itself on the adventurer’s forehead, enveloping her in a transparent light membrane.
The restless vine-like spikes were forcibly restrained, rendering them unable to move.
This was a five-tiered Holy Light sealing barrier, sufficient to use in this situation—skills didn’t always need to be the highest tier to be effective.
Next, she cast the same sacred seal twice more on the other two infected individuals, instantly stopping the flood of impending “disasters.”
“Miss Vilyric, what exactly…”
“Shut up!”
Awen was about to say something, but the Little Dragon Daughter immediately shot him a fierce glare.
The two of them shared a mental connection; Vilyric’s disdain for this guy was palpable, and even though Xiao Guang hadn’t activated her “pressure,” the killing intent in her golden slit-like eyes was enough to render Awen frozen, unable to move.
Vilyric didn’t focus on inconsequential matters; she poked at the sealed spikes, confirming they wouldn’t move again before resting her hand back.
“Information detection.”
Light gradually flowed over the adventurer’s now distorted, terrifying body, and Vilyric’s expression began to brighten.
A parasitic magical beast.
Within this female adventurer’s body.
The vine-like spikes, even forming an additional set of arms, were all parts extending into the external world.
And the core of this parasitic beast was located…
Vilyric raised her hand, aiming for a certain position just to the right of the adventurer’s chest, and plunged downward.
Squelch.
The girl’s delicate, pale finger penetrated the adventurer’s chest in an instant, sending a spray of blood, with half her hand buried within.
“What are you doing?!”
Awen exclaimed in shock. The only reason he was willing to spare no expense to protect these three companions was primarily because of this girl—his childhood friend, the one he had deep feelings for. How could he possibly stand by and watch her heart pierced by someone!?
“I already said, don’t disturb the master!”
But before Awen could react, a wave of terrifying pressure swept through the area, overwhelming everyone present, forcing them to collapse to the ground, unable to move.
“How is this possible…?”
The man struggled to lift his head, gazing up at the blonde girl radiating a horrifying aura, finally realizing one thing…
This woman was not just a legendary figure!
Vilyric ignored what was happening around her; Xiao Guang’s pressure clearly couldn’t affect her or the already approaching Leila and Renée. Miss Mier, being close by, also narrowly escaped, trembling in her shield.
After fiddling around inside the woman adventurer for a while, the Priestess suddenly grasped something and pulled it out!
“Squeak!!”
A round, ping-pong ball-sized, eyeless and noseless gray entity with a snapping mouth, surrounded by numerous sharp, spike-like limbs, was pinched between the Black-haired Girl’s fingers and lifted into the air.
Behind it were dozens of extending, vine-like strands, obviously transformed from those limbs, having spread throughout the adventurer’s body.
Those spikes and odd arms must be the endpoints of these long strands.
Others might not have been clear, but Vilyric had already seen through the “information detection” that this thing had previously been latched onto the girl’s heart, anchoring itself with its foot-like stings while siphoning nutrients from the blood, turning them into the externally spreading “disasters.”
This beast was incredibly fierce; even captured, it showed no fear. Perhaps being too far from its host weakened the sealing effect. Once freed, it immediately opened its serrated mouth, aiming straight for the Black-haired Girl’s finger!
“Master Vilyric, be careful!”
Both Leila and Renée, watching curiously from the side, cried out in alarm. Though Leila wanted to intervene, the creature was simply too small, and being pinched in the Priestess’s grip, her spear couldn’t accurately hit, and she wouldn’t make it in time.
With no time left for aid, the Little Dragon Daughter, however, wasn’t worried, because she understood her master’s power better than anyone.
