Why Am I a Priestess When I Reach the Maximum Level?

Chapter 251

Chapter 56: Return to Qi Xiang Ju

As Philena mentioned, Vilyric already held the invitation for the auction.

At first, she was puzzled as to why the white-feathered shop girl would specifically give them those two metallic notes with special patterns before leaving. Was this what it meant?

Indeed, this was quite an interesting way of screening.

With Qi Xiang Ju’s high consumption standards, those who don’t understand the situation would likely only visit once, no matter how good the service is, thus preventing the ordinary people without purchasing power from wasting an opportunity.

Only those who are not deceived by the restaurant’s ordinary appearance, are in the know of the auction’s specific date, and can afford the price, are the true targets of Qi Xiang Ju.

Vilyric’s presence here was purely a coincidence.

No wonder Qi Xiang Ju was packed today; Kunier was even willing to wait just for a meal, and a large part of the crowd must be after those auction slots.

“What time is the auction?”

“Tonight at 9 o’clock. Miss Vilyric, would you like to join?”

From the sound of it, even if Vilyric wasn’t interested, Philena intended to attend herself.

“Of course I want to go! How can such a fun event exclude me?”

Though she had promised Xi Fu Lin to accompany her in the evening to look for fragments… cough, anyway, this kind of thing can be done anytime, right? It’s not urgent, and she could explain later.

Yeah, that’s right.

After a brief discussion about the auction details Philena found out, they went their separate ways, waiting for nightfall.

Although there were still several hours until the time Philena mentioned, Vilyric had no intention of doing anything else, so she stayed in her room with her pet and pulled out a novel she hadn’t finished reading to pass the time.

The Priestess had a lot of books gifted by Edith in her backpack.

As a Guardian who had lived alone for nearly 800 years, she had quite a bit of insight into how to pass the time; her collection of reading material was quite rich and interesting, akin to a small library.

During their time in the City of Courage, she had sent a fair number of books to Vilyric during leisure hours, covering everything from cultural geography and historical anecdotes to personal novels, nearly encompassing all aspects.

“Ah…”

With Vilyric engrossed in her book, the Little Dragon Daughter, having nothing else to do, could only curl up on the bed and doze off. For dragons, eating and sleeping can be done at any time, an instinctual behavior almost ingrained in their DNA.

After all, according to the setting in “Fantasy World,” even the most ordinary dragon can live for over ten thousand years without encountering any unforeseen events. In the long and lonely dragon life, one must find something to pass the time, and sleeping soundly is one of the most convenient choices.

Thus, time passed swiftly, and soon it was the first night since Vilyric and her companions arrived in Spreeze City.

Feeling a bit bothersome and right in the middle of an intriguing story, Vilyric decided not to go out for dinner, only stretching and standing up when a knock on the door echoed around 8 PM after sitting on the soft chair for several hours.

Opening the door revealed none other than Philena Trelop, exactly as expected.

Since she was going to an auction and not a brawl, she didn’t wear her usual knight armor but instead donned a more neutral long shirt and pants, with a sword strapped to her waist. Her short hair was tied up, and she wore a black hood, further enhancing Philena’s already boyish charm.

“Wow, looking quite dashing, Miss Philena! I wouldn’t know and might think a young man is out on a date with a girl~”

The Envoy Group Leader helplessly shook her head. She wasn’t like some of Vilyric’s little fans, easily flustered by flattery.

“You’re rambling again. If it were one of my subordinates, I might have to find something for him to do… Alright, it’s about time. Are you both ready to set off?”

“Yeah, just give us two minutes.”

Since it was just girls outside, there was nothing to hide, so Vilyric went back to the bedside, calling the Little Dragon Daughter who had already mostly woken up since Philena knocked. After a quick fix-up, they headed out together.

At this hour, members of the Envoy Group were either wandering around the night market or resting in their rooms; the inn was quiet, with few people moving about.

Leila, Renée, and Edwina didn’t seem to be in their rooms; Vilyric had no idea where they had gone, but they all had legendary strength, and Spreeze City was relatively safe, so she wasn’t worried.

The three girls exited the embassy, following the extensive road network of Spreeze City. They soon found themselves at the entrance of Qi Xiang Ju with the route they took during the day.

It was already past 8 PM, and typically, most restaurants would have closed up by this time, preparing to end their day. However, this little establishment was unusually open, with the warm glow of magical lights flickering inside.

With no one outside to oversee, Vilyric and Philena exchanged glances before stepping inside.

“Welcome… oh? It’s you! I remember you two, coming at this hour for a late-night snack?”

The girl at the counter was still that seemingly delicate white-feathered shop girl, but compared to the daytime, her demeanor and attitude had shifted subtly. While her businesslike smile had faded somewhat, it was now more genuine, seemingly from the heart.

Clearly, she had a strong impression of Vilyric and Xiao Guang, who appeared to be human yet spoke fluent sky language, recognizing them right away upon meeting.

“Hello! I didn’t expect to see you so soon again. Since we’re here, we might as well get straight to the point, right?”

Vilyric smiled at the cute shop girl, who returned the gesture with a warm but perfectly timed smile and nodded.

“According to the rules, may I please see your invitation?”

“Here you go; I’ve been keeping it safe.”

After checking the three matching metallic notes presented by the Priestess, the smile on the shop girl’s face brightened even more.

“Hehe, I thought your aura was extraordinary during the day; you truly are a distinguished guest. Please come inside; someone will attend to you there. Wishing you all the best in finding items you desire~”

With that, the white-feathered girl pressed a discreet spot on the inside wall of the counter, causing a square area to automatically recess inward. With a series of slight magical fluctuations, a silvery magic circle roughly a meter in diameter slowly appeared at the side of the counter.

“Oh?”

The black-haired girl let out a surprised gasp. Having been in this world for a while, Vilyric no longer had the bewilderment she used to.

It was an invisible space teleportation magic circle.

It appeared to be one that could transport living creatures, quite exquisite. At least, very few people from the United Kingdom could construct such a precise circle. It had to be at least a Level 5 spell.

After all, based on what the Priestess had seen in the Kingdom, their space magic development was fairly rudimentary, primarily limited to transporting goods and some one-time short-distance teleports.

Unfortunately, Vilyric had no affinity for space magic, so she likely wouldn’t be able to learn or use it here either. Otherwise, many things would be much more convenient.
