Wings of Fire in MHA

After two day Carter was more than a little weary of Nejire, no matter how many question he answered she always had more ready, and he couldn't even get mad because the questions she asked actually made sense, not a single one of her questions were stupid so he took the time to answer them when he wasn't patroling or training with Ryukyu. Because of how much time they spent together (Nejire following him almost everywhere) Ryukyu had sent them out on patrol several times together and Carter had eventually learned to just shut her out, other than that he quite enjoyed his time at the agency, there was plenty of food, hot water and Nejire was a pretty good sparring partner, she even helped him realize a flaw in his enchantments, even though Nejire's wave quirk couldn't harm his skin and scales, it could harm his internal organs with a powerful enough blast, so he had been very quick to fix that issue once he realized it. 

Halfway through the week Ryukyu had called him and Nejire to her office, when they got there Ryukyu hung up the phone and looked at them "There have been increased sighting of the Hero Killer in Hosu city, the local agencies have requested support so me and you two will be going there today, any questions?" she asked as Nejire shook her head not having a question for once "I thought we weren't allowed to fly?" Carter asked as he had gotten several warnings just flying home, "Since its official hero work, we can fly." Ryukyu said as she dismissed them and they went to pack their things.

Deciding to show off a little Carter flew along side Ryukyu in his dragon form, even though his human form could easily outpace her it was more fun seeing the look on Nejire's face when he and Ryukyu transformed and Carter was noticeably larger than her. As they flew Nejire stayed on Ryukyu's back as her quirk didn't have enough reserves to fly all the way to Hosu, when she had tried to jump on his back midflight Carter had 'accidentally' smacked her with his wing and knocked her unconscious for the rest of the trip, but it was that or have a human ride him which he would not allow. During the flight Carter performed various maneuvers to test the flexibility of his body and was satisfied with what he found. 

When they finally reached Hosu city, Carter thoroughly enjoyed the panicked looks on peoples faces when they saw him, a massive dragon with scary teeth and claws fly in with Ryukyu. When he turned back into a human he quickly took his water bottle from Ryukyu and spent a few minutes chugging as he was quite thirsty from flying for so long, but he couldn't deny how amazing it felt to be in the sky, it felt like freedom was calling for him. As they settled in Carter. gradually spread out his senses to try and see if he could find any trace of the Hero Killer Stain but all he got was a headache from all the different sounds and smell that bombarded him, during their patrol around the city Carter kept looking for signs of Stain but there wasn't anything.

After a few days of this the internship was coming to an end when a loud explosion went off, running outside Carter and Nejire spotted several villains with wings causing havoc, 'They look like weaker versions of Nomu' he thought as they jumped into action, Carter reached one first and slammed his fist into its gut and dodged to the side as it slashed at him with clawed hands, as he took care of the ones flying Nejire and several sidekicks started evacuating people and fighting off a nomu that had no wings. After beating the two flying nomu into submission and wrapping them in capture tap Carter watched as another flyer off in the distance slammed into a train that was arriving, swearing he flew over then had to change course as the nomu shot back out of the train with Izuku of all people right behind it. Not bothering to question why he was there Carter kicked the nomu to the ground before wrapping tape around it while it was dazed.

"What are you doing here?" He asked Izuku as the boy caught his breath, "Internship hero came to help look for the hero killer, you?" "Same." as Izuku caught his breath froze, he heard the sound of a blade hitting rock, 'Stain uses swords' he realized before he took off into the air as Izuku called someone to tell them about the nomu, flying towards the sounds of fighting, as he flew over an alley he stopped as he found what he was looking for.

Down in the alley the hero killer was dodging strikes from Ida while trying to get at an injured hero behind him, right as he was about to jump in Carter watched as Izuku came out of nowhere and kicked Stain aside before he could slash Ida's back with his blade, but it seems Izuku got nicked as Stain brought his blade up to his mouth and licked the blood off causing Izuku to freeze up. "That's a pretty interesting quirk you got there." He said as he slowly descended and landed right in front of Ida and Izuku as Stain tensed 'why is that freak here?' he thought as he glared at Carter.

"My fight is not with you,fake hero, I only want that pretender behind you." Stain growled as he pointed his blade to the injured hero slumped against a wall "That's too bad, as a hero is my duty to protect those weaker than me, and everyone behind me is weaker than me sooo, yes your fight is with me." Carter said while bringing out his claws, although he didn't have his license yet he could claim self-defense and use the footage on nearby cameras as evidence, he just couldn't strike first. Seeing Stain hesitate Carter activated a tracker that Ryukyu had given him to use in case he found the hero killer, "Where is all that confidence from earlier you bastard!" Ida yelled surprising Carter as Stain snorted "Quiet boy, you are weak unlike the one you stand behind, but you are still a false hero, blinded by vengeance."

By now Izuku had unfrozen and was now giving first aid to the injured hero "Tch, must be O-type blood to have recovered to quickly." Stain grumbled as Carter took a step forward, "Leave now Hero Killer, pros are on their way to take you down." he said as Stain hesitated before lunging forward, smirking Carter deflected the blow with his claws as sparks flew from the friction between steel and claws then swung his fist forward as Stain dodge and slid under his legs slashing at Ida who tried to kick him. Quickly turning Carter lunged forward past an immobilized Ida and tackled Stain to the ground before he could get to Izuku who was still dealing with the hero. 

As Stain thrashed around Carter smacked his blade aside before punching him in the face knowing Stain out cold, 'Huh that was easy.' he thought before he started binding him in capture tape, looking up Ida was now unfrozen and was staring at the ground while Izuku finished patching up the hero, but they still needed to get him out of the alley and into a hospital, grabbing Stain Carter dragged him along "Let's go we need to find the pros, start explaining why your here." he said to the two as they followed behind him explaining as the held the injured hero between them.

By the time they got out of the alley and back onto the street, Carter now knew why Ida was so set on taking down Stain, his brother had been crippled by him. Although that didn't excuse his behavior is did make sense why Ida would chose an agency in such a small place.

As they walked through the deserted streets Carter wondered about what Stain meant by 'false hero' so he decided to ask him "I know you're awake, what did you mean when you said false hero?" he said as Stains body stiffened as Izuku and Ida gave him weird looks, "Why should I tell you anything." Stain hissed as Izuku jumped in surprise "Because I asked, and I'm stronger than you." Carter answered as Stain swore. "We should not be fraternizing with the enemy, he is a villain and we are heroes." Ida exclaimed as Stain snorted.

"I'm merely asking a question that might help us see a pattern in his attacks." Carter said as Ida grumbled but let him be "So, lets hear it, 'Hero Killer'" Carter said as he saw Ryukyu appear in the distance along with Endeavor if the flames were anything to go off of. "I won't answer anything you ask." Stain spat as a Nomu crawled out from a nearby ruined building. "It's another of those things" Izuku said as he and Ida stopped as Carter set Stain down while checking his binding as the Nomu noticed them and ran over, as it got closer Carter looked Stain in the eyes "I hope it kills you." Stain snarled as Carter smirked "In your dreams."

As he turned around the Nomu finally reached him and lunged forward 'how simple' he thought as he swung his fist at it not even bothering to use his claws as he sent it flying back much to Stains surprise, not giving it time to recover he dashed forward and slammed his boot into its side, kicking another couple of meters away as Stain tried to undo his bindings.

As it charged at him again Carter felt almost offended at the creatures inability to feel fear since it just kept charging like a mindless machine, swatting it aside again he looked up and saw that Ryukyu and Endeavor were only a few blocks away now 'time to wrap it up' he thought as the nomu punched him right in the chest doing nothing, seeing its exposed brain Carter slammed his fist into the side of its head and that finally put it down as it crumpled to the pavement.

Tying it up he walked back over to Stain as Ryukyu reached them first due to her wings "Is that the hero killer?" she asked surprised as Nejire hopped off her back and ran over to Izuku and Ida to help them, "Yep, he attacked first so I dealt with him, camera can back me up." he said as Endeavor and Shoto of all people landed, as Ryukyu filled in Endeavor Carter noticed that the nomu from earlier was back up again "Stay down." he told it as he slammed his fist into it again, seeing them distracted Stain burst from his bindings with a short tanto in hand and lunged for the injured hero, due to their surprise Izuku, Ida and Nejire are unable to react as Stain closes in ready to slit their throats before Carter kicks him aside with more force than usual as Stain goes flying into a nearby building.

Still not down Stain dashes out from the broken wall and throws several kunai at Carter but they bounce harmlessly off his skin not leaving a mark "I won't be captured by you false heroes!" Stain yells as he draws another sword and dodges a punch from Endeavor as he slashes at his side drawing a little blood as Ryukyu grabs the injured hero and flies into the air keeping him out of reach. Seeing his primary target escape Stain decides to take out the other heroes before they can become 'false heroes' as he targets Ida first, he doesn't make it far however as Carter punches him in the chest sending him back as Endeavor gets ready to kick him, but he doesn't expect Stain to flip around and throw a kunai at him so he gets hit in the shoulder as Stain licks the blood off his blade causing him to freeze up. 

"All you false heroes will fall tonight!" Stain roars as Carter and Shoto rush in with Shoto using his ice as Carter starts to get annoyed. Dodging the ice Stain slashes at Carter as he sidesteps and punches him in the chest throwing him around like a ragdoll "How much trouble would I get in if I put you down." he wondered aloud as Shoto and the others look at him in surprise "NO KILLING!" Ryukyu calls out as Carter shrugs "I was just wondering, he's not going to rest until he kills all those he deems 'false'." he says as Endeavor rushes in again burning with rage.

Still refusing to fall Stain fights back as Shoto, Endeavor and Carter all apply pressure as he rants about the rotten system he's trying to fix. Despite being a human Stain is quite strong as other than Carter he is able to keep both Endeavor and Shoto at a distance with his swords and kunai. 

'I grow tired of this' Carter thinks as he lets loose a bit more and finally uses his claws slashing at Stain as he desperately blocks with his sword, "You don't deserve to kill me, only the true hero of the world has that honour." Stain yells as he slashes Endeavors arm for getting to close "Who, All Might?" Carter says as Stains eyes light up "Yes, a man who dedicates to helping humanity without expecting any reward, he has no motivation other than helping those beneath him, a true hero!" Stain proclaims as the nomu from earlier wakes up again and rushes at Shoto who launches a wave of ice at it. Ignoring the ice it charges forward but ends up face down in the pavement as Carter slams its head into the asphalt as Shoto freezes it in a block of ice.

'I'm really getting tired of this' he thinks as he flicks his wings as Stain shivers feeling the anger coming off him "Finally showing your true colors fake hero?" he jabs as Carter kicks him in the gut sending him into Endeavors flaming fist , "I never did hide them." Carter said as he walked over to Stain whose injuries had started to catch up to him "People like you are the reason I exist." Stain snarls as Carter picks him up by his hair, "People like you target the weak and feeble, never going after the strong who control everything, like targeting the symptoms when the disease has a cure, it helps but is ultimately useless." he says as as Stain ties to stab him but after so much use the blade finally breaks on Carters scales as he finally brings them out again.

"One day, someone will put down all you false heroes." Stain says as Carter nods surprising him "Your right, one day the world will get a wake up call and those who don't answer the call will be left behind, as the true heroes lead humanity forward." he says as he punches him in the face finally knowing him out. "Those are dangerous words brat." Endeavor says crossing his arms as Shoto brings Carter some capture tape as Ryukyu lands with sirens blaring in the distance slowly getting closer, "For the weak maybe." Carter says not looking up as Ryukyu shakes her head "Just because you have the strength doesn't mean you have to take action." she says as Carters head snaps up "That kind of thinking is exactly why the world is such a mess." he snaps as several police cars arrive as they move to check on the injured Native (Hero that got hurt). 

Seeing that he won't be convinced otherwise Ryukyu leaves Carter be as they all give statements with Ida, Izuku and Carter explaining their runin with Stain and how they used their quirks for self-defense. After a few more hours of clean up and a few more statements Carter, Nejire and Ryukyu finally get to rest in the Hosu agency. Not wanting to deal with any of Nejire's question tonight Carter covers his head with his wings and she thankfully gets the message as he drifts off to sleep thinking out Stains words.

Villain bar-

As they watch the news Shigaraki swears "Damn it." seeing Stain captured in Hosu with Endeavor taking the credit though in the picture he noticed other heroes as well as Carter. 'So thats why he sent a distress signal' Shigaraki thought as he remembered giving Stain an emergency beacon in case either one of them ran into Carter. As the news changes to something else Shigaraki turns to the TV full of static "Could we break him out, he could prove useful in the future as he has already fought with the brat and knows his tricks." he says as a heavy voice responds, "That is up to you Tomura, but if you take action be wary as most of the nomu I just gave you were captured in Hosu so you should recover them as well." it said as Shigaraki nodded already planning to break them out as well.

Elsewhere-

After getting a signal, Stains computer starts to send out a message defaming the current hero society and expressing his ideals, as it goes out not many see it but soon enough many will see Stains story and feel that they need to take action against the corrupt system starting a new wave of villainy and vigilantism as people who have been abused by the system feel anger and resentment boil over within them.
