That made sense since he had just absorbed all of the death energy that had been concentrated inside of the Death Lily, so he should be filled with energy after assimilating that energy into his own.

There were several herbs that Hei Gui actually wanted to get for Huang Xie, which was why he wanted to come here in the first place.

He was using his knowledge to help his descendant become stronger to help revive the Hei Family again.

He knew that if he tried to give the orchid to Xiao Ming all on his own, then she wouldn't take it from him. So the only thing that he could do was rope in their master who both he and Xiao Ming respected.

Since it was a request from his disciple, Lin Fan didn't reject it and helped him convince Xiao Ming.

But the biggest reason was that this orchid was better suited for Xiao Ming than it was for Huang Xie.

The orchid was an elixir that was filled with both death and flame elemental energy.

It was perfect for Xiao Ming who had a flame based special physique.

It would allow the flames that she naturally produced to become even stronger.

And since Huang Xie didn't really have flame elemental energy, that part of the orchid would have been wasted.

To his surprise, Xiao Ming was able to trick Huang Xie into taking this herb again and when he finished absorbing it, it showed that this was the right choice.

When Huang Xie released his green barrier, there was a trace of red to it.

When Lin Fan tested it, he found that not only did it reflect his attack, but also set his attack on fire. The green barrier of Huang Xie's physique had actually absorbed the flame elemental energy of the orchid.

It had incorporated that flame elemental energy into the barrier itself, allowing it to use that flame elemental energy to light things that attacked Huang Xie on fire.

It seemed that Lin Fan had completely looked down on how broken Huang Xie's physique was.

Not only did it have the greatest defense, it was also able to absorb elemental energy from other sources and incorporate them into itself.

This was on a completely different level.

It was even stronger than Lin Fan's own physique that he thought was broken enough already.

"How did you think we subdued the five families that served us? They all had physiques that specialized in controlling elemental energy, but their physiques couldn't compare to our Hei Family's physique which let us control all of the elements." Hei Gui said in a proud voice after coming out to watch Huang Xie absorb the orchid.

Of course, he only made himself visible to Lin Fan, so the others weren't able to see him.

Lin Fan revealed a slightly bitter smile when he heard this.

There was one thing that he learned from all of this.

It was that there was no expectations that he could put on the Heaven's Chosen.

Whatever he thought he could expect from the Heaven's Chosen was not what he should be expecting. After all, there was a reason why the Heaven's Chosen had this title, he was the one that was beloved by the heavens.

After Huang Xie finished absorbing the orchid, he was once again filled with energy.

The moment that they heard this, Lin Fan and Huang Xie immediately ran forward.

That was because they could recognize this voice and sense the spiritual energy fluctuations that were coming from in front of them. It seemed like there was an intense fight that was happening in front of them.

It seemed like it was much too intense for the disciples of the Love Sect.

Meaning that they were most likely in danger.

When they arrived, they found that there was a group that was surrounded.

But it wasn't just a group of disciples that was surrounded, there was even an elder that was with them. The elder was the one that had kept them safe with a barrier around them, but it didn't seem like the elder would be able to hold on for long.

After all, this elder was only in the Qi Condensing Realm and there were many Qi Condensing Realm Spirit Beasts around them.

Huang Xie and Lin Fan didn't hesitate to jump down.

Huang Xie knew what the division of tasks were between them, so he jumped down to where the elder and disciples were. The elder released his barrier to allow Huang Xie to land, but he also didn't release the barrier again.

That was because Huang Xie raised his hand and released his own barrier to protect them.

When he did, the elder looked at the barrier with a surprised look.

The disciples might not be able to see the change with Huang Xie's barrier, but the elder certainly could. He could even sense that this barrier was a threat to him now, he knew that he wouldn't be able to break through it.

With Huang Xie providing the barrier, Lin Fan was able to easily handle the spirit beasts that had surrounded them. With Huang Xie protecting them, Lin Fan just simply waved his hand and released his gravity and flames at the same time.

The spirit beasts that were there found that they couldn't move at all, even when the black flames were burning under them.

Their eyes were filled with terror at the fact that there were flames under them, it was just that there wasn't a thing that they could do. They were completely suppressed by the gravity that Lin Fan released, so they couldn't move a single muscle.

They could only watch as the flames burned them to a crisp.

When it was over, Lin Fan released the gravity and the flames to reveal the charred corpses of these spirit beasts.

It was only then that Huang Xie released his barrier and turned to look at the disciples to ask, "What happened?"

They seemed a bit too terrified to say anything, almost as if they had experienced something traumatic. It wasn't that they were scared of Lin Fan, it had to be something that they experienced before him coming to help them that had caused them to be traumatized like this.

Lin Fan saw this, so he turned to the elder to ask, "What happened?"

Huang Xie couldn't say this to the elder, but that didn't mean that Lin Fan couldn't.

The elder didn't respond right away as the look on his face made it seem like he was trying to figure out what he was going to say.

After a long silence, he said, "I don't know."

Lin Fan and Huang Xie knitted their brows when they heard this, but they didn't say anything as they waited for the elder to explain.

The elder could see the way that the two of them looked at him, but he didn't say anything at first as he tried to gather his thoughts even more.

It was only after a while that he finally said, "It's that these things suddenly appeared out of nowhere." Then after a pause, he added, "It wasn't that they came out of nowhere, but it's hard to describe how they appeared since I didn't see everything."

He turned to the disciples as he said, "I was following them when it happened, but I was a bit far away so I didn't see everything. All I saw were the holes disappearing when these spirit beasts appeared."

"Holes?" Lin Fan and Huang Xie asked in confused voices.

The elder nodded, but he didn't say anything as he looked at the disciples, as if he was waiting for them to speak.

The disciples slowly came back to their senses before one of them said, "There were these holes that suddenly opened up in the ground when we were searching the area. We didn't know what they were at first, but when we looked down into them…"

There was a shudder that ran through all five of these disciples after he said this.

It was as if they were remembering the same traumatizing scene at the same time when he said this.

Then after a pause, he continued, "Then the spirit beasts appeared."

"Take me to the place where those holes appeared." Lin Fan said in response.
