Wizard: From Zero-Circle Wizard to the Omnipotent Lord

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: The Black Dragon Witch

The moment the topic of the White Heart Tower Master's return was brought up, both Wizard Drey and the other wizard froze for an instant.

After all, the Tower Master was a great wizard on the same level as their own Lord of the Furnace.

Speaking of the White Heart Tower Master naturally made them think of their leader as a powerful fourth-level wizard.

Regardless of whether one was a black wizard or a white wizard, only those who had surpassed the third level possessed the ability to construct colossal structures like the Furnace or establish wizard towers.

At multiple strategic points around the Furnace, numerous armies had assembled, each led by formal wizards.

"Prepare to move out!"

With a single command, the wizards in the ranks began organizing their formations, ready to depart.

Just then, an elegant yet imposing black dragon suddenly emerged from the highest point of the Furnace.

Its massive body cast a long shadow over the battlefield, and as its wings flapped, violent winds tore through the air. The dragon's black scales shimmered coldly under the sunlight, resembling a streaking black meteor.

Atop the dragon's back sat a graceful yet mysterious witch.

Her long robes fluttered in the wind, and as the black dragon soared, her silhouette appeared ethereal, like an untouchable celestial being.

With the arrival of the black dragon, all the wizards knew this war had finally begun!

As the Furnace army mobilized, the once-bustling atmosphere of the Furnace grew empty and silent. Many wizard apprentices and staff members had been dispatched to the front lines, leaving behind a stark contrast to the usual lively activity.

The once-crowded streets and halls became eerily quiet.

Apart from the potion department, which still maintained a reasonable number of apprentices for logistical support, most other divisions were reduced to minimal staffing, just enough to keep essential operations running.

The residential areas, once teeming with people, now seemed desolate. The few individuals passing by did so in a hurry, their figures appearing particularly lonesome against the backdrop of the deserted city.

Even the main streets, which were usually lively, were now sparsely populated, with only a handful of passersby visible.

Everyone wizards and apprentices alike was preparing for the upcoming battle, and the usual daily commotion had been stifled by the oppressive atmosphere of war.

However, for Lynn, these changes had little direct impact on his daily life.

Even though the Furnace army had set out, and the shadow of war loomed over the entire region, his world remained confined to the potion garden.

To him, the upheaval outside had little immediate influence on his routine.

Of course, as the war drew closer, the workload in the potion garden increased drastically.

With many frontline wizards and apprentices being deployed, those remaining behind had to take on heavier responsibilities.

Lynn and his fellow newcomers, including Remi, found their daily tasks multiplying they now had to sort and categorize various potions, package them, and prepare them for delivery to the front lines.

These potions and resources were vital supplies, crucial for the war effort.

As a result, Lynn and his companions found their working hours extended from ten hours a day to anywhere between fourteen and eighteen.

While wizard apprentices could restore their mental energy through meditation, allowing them to function without sleep for a limited time, they still had physical limits.

Remi, who had yet to reach the first-level apprentice stage, was nearly exhausted after several consecutive days of high-intensity labor.

To resolve this, he had no choice but to scrounge together resources borrowing credits not only from others but also from Lynn to purchase rare potions from the store.

With this, and at the cost of accumulating a significant debt, he barely managed to break through to the first-level apprentice stage.

Only by strengthening his mental energy through meditation was he able to barely withstand the grueling workload.

Meanwhile, though Lynn also enhanced his mental strength through meditation, his increased workload left him with very little time for studying wizardry.

Although his talent ensured that he still made progress, his rate of improvement had slowed considerably compared to before.

Where he once spent hours each day delving into the mysteries of wizardry, he now only had brief moments to meditate. His learning progress had been forcibly delayed.

Despite this, Lynn remained patient.

Even slow accumulation led to progress, and he knew that with each passing day, his wizardry and mental strength would continue to grow.

He found comfort in the steady advancement of his abilities, however gradual, and refused to slacken his efforts.

The Furnace army had now completely encircled the Bitter Heart Sect, their formidable wizardry shield enveloping the sect's castle stronghold.

Inside the castle, the sect's wizards were desperately reinforcing the shield, striving to maintain this final line of defense.

Powerful wizards in flowing robes channeled their mental energy to sustain the barrier, while wizard apprentices frantically retrieved precious magic stones from the sect's treasury to reinforce the shield at all costs.

However, beyond the barrier, the Furnace army was fully prepared to launch their assault.

Powerful energy fluctuations erupted continuously, and the deafening clashes of wizardry resounded across the battlefield. The sheer intensity of the magical exchanges tore through the air, fracturing the very energy of the environment.

Among the siege weapons, one stood out in particular a colossal magical cannon.

At that moment, several wizard apprentices were struggling to load a blood-red crystal into the cannon's barrel.

The moment the crystal was secured, the massive magical device roared to life.

A scarlet beam of energy shot out like a meteor, crashing violently into the sect's wizardry shield.

Boom!

A thunderous explosion shook the battlefield.

The Bitter Heart Sect's shield trembled violently, teetering on the verge of collapse but still holding strong.

"That sect truly lives up to its name. With a third-level wizard overseeing it, breaking through is no easy task," Wizard Drey remarked coldly, his eyes sharp as blades as he stood beside the magical cannon.

"Load another blood crystal," hissed the Black Serpent Wizard, whose right arm had long since been replaced by a writhing, shadowy snake. His eerie laughter carried through the air as his serpent-like tongue flickered.

At their command, apprentices hauled an even larger blood crystal into the cannon.

Once again, the cannon roared to life, unleashing another devastating crimson blast toward the sect's defenses.

Boom!

With this final, overwhelming strike, the sect's barrier shattered completely, fragments scattering in all directions.

As the defensive formation collapsed, the ranged battle gave way to true close-quarters combat.

Powerful wizards, including Wizard Drey and the Black Serpent Wizard, soared into the sky, charging toward the sect's defenders.

Magical radiance flared, energy rippling through the air both sides were now fully engaged in a brutal war.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield below, wizard apprentices surged forward, rushing into the melee.

Among them stood Lynn's sworn enemy Riley Robert.

Riley's face was grim, his eyes brimming with killing intent.

His bloodstained robes dripped crimson, and the enchanted ring on his finger was nearly shattered a testament to the desperate battle he had already fought.

Yet, just as he searched for Lynn among the chaos, a sudden burst of radiant crimson light erupted from the sect's ranks.

Like a miniature sun, the explosion illuminated the entire battlefield, sending shockwaves in every direction.

Countless apprentices caught in the blast were instantly incinerated vanishing into dust without leaving a single trace.

A look of terror crossed Riley's face.

He realized, at that moment, that he might never get the chance to kill Lynn and avenge his foolish brother.

The power of this spell was too overwhelming he had no time to react!

But just then, a deafening dragon roar shattered the sky.

From the heavens, a massive black dragon descended, its vast wings blotting out the sun.

The battlefield trembled under its immense presence.

And atop the dragon's back sat the witch the Black Dragon Witch her amethyst eyes gleaming like twin stars, commanding the attention of all.

The tide of battle had shifted.
