Wizard Lord of Westeros

Chapter 72: Improved Magical Density

***Sixth Bonus Chapter of the Week***

Bolton Lands

POV of Domeric Bolton

"So… is it completed?" Domeric asked the small being respectfully as he gazed at the weirwood grove in front of him, all of which had a carved face on them.

"It's hard to explain in human words." She said with a melancholic look "But even if it looks complete, it'll still take it months if not years or decades to turn into a true Heart Tree. A sacred place where the soul of our ancestors can reside."

"You mean a place where the Raven can spy from?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, and she looked at him sadly.

"You humans. Always so full of conflict." She said before going silent.

His eye twitched at her words. Because he was generally not the kind of person who would go out and seek conflict with other people. But with his long history of conflicting with other people, he supposed that it was his nature whether he wanted to accept it or not.

After all, what 11-year-old child goes out and fights an adult mountain troll to save his friend?

He shook his head nostalgically, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath.

He could feel that with the addition of the dozens upon dozens of Heart Trees in the godswood, the density of ambient magic in the air had increased by 5 times more than before when there was only 1 Heart Tree.

It was still not much when compared to the Heart Tree where the Children of the Forest resided which alone generated twice the amount of ambient magic than all these trees combined together.

And if Leaf's words were to be believed then the Heart Tree was not fully connected with the magical leylines beneath the earth. Which was understandable.

The fact that the Children of the Forest were able to perform rituals that were able to take out ambient magic from magical leylines was a miracle in itself and not something that even wizards from his past life were able to do.

The reason Hogwarts held so much ambient magic in his past life was not because of the magical leylines running under the earth but because of its long history and the thousands upon thousands of magical spells performed within it every single day.

But in this world. It was different.

He could take out the magic running through the magical leylines and use that magic to cast large country-scale wards if he chose to do so. Though the effort itself would require years if not decades of his time, it was possible for him now while before he would not have even thought about doing such a thing.

All in all, it meant that with the growth of the Heart Trees, the ambient magic would grow along with it. This meant that his own and the Symbol of Deathly Hallows's magic reserves would be able to replenish at a quicker rate as time went on and he could cast more powerful spells constantly within his castle.

Essentially, he was creating something akin to a Wizard's Tower where he would be far more powerful than anywhere else. However, in this case, it would be more of a castle than a tower.

"So… now that you've done what you set out to do, what do you want to do in the future?" He asked the magical being who was old enough to be Headmaster Dumbledore's great-great-great grandmother.

Leaf stayed silent upon his inquiry, looking at the Weirwood groove with her usual melancholic look. He was beginning to suspect that she didn't hear him when she answered. "Ash," she said "She has grown fond of the Heart Trees here and wants to care for them. It is the first time in a long time that she has grown this attached to something. It would be cruel to take that away from her. And I won't leave her alone among you humans."

"I see…" he said, feeling that it was a little wrong of her to blame the entire humanity for her own life. But then again, the humans did kill all the Children of the Forest that they could get their hands on.

After a moment of thought he spoke once again "I was thinking of planting more Weirwood trees throughout my domain at important places. Do you…"

"Your greed is showing," Leaf commented in her sad and melancholic tone but there was no bite in her words. As if she was just pointing out the facts. Which in a way, she was.

"Perhaps." He admitted "So… would you be willing to carve more faces… I mean, connect the Weirwood trees to the old gods."

Leaf hummed and then gave him a nod. "You may go back to the cave and call more of my friends. Perhaps, they would find a sense of purpose in this." She said before leaving his side to go deeper into the godswood where she and Ash lived in seclusion.

He looked at her back for a moment longer before he turned and left the place.

He had some more Weirwood saplings to plant after all. He really didn't want to do this labor work and plant every sapling himself. But he had to engrave the runes that accelerated saplings' growth.

'Should I accelerate my magical ink research? I developed a more potent magical ink, but it still can't be used by non-magical people.'

He never stopped researching magical ink, but the results weren't satisfactory. He didn't know anything about creating magical ink in his past life. So, he was using the trial-and-error method, but it was a slow-moving process.

'I shouldn't spend too much time on this research. I even don't know how to make normal magical ink. Maybe it isn't possible to make magical ink that can be used by non-magical folk.'

He decided to stop his research on it. After all, there were a lot of things he needed to do and observe. He had to use his limited time effectively.

But there is still some hope. Maybe he could get a book about magical ink from his tattoo in the future. That would make things easier.

But for now, all he could do was wait.

And a few days later his level three tattoo finally replenished its magical reserve for the first time.

He quickly came to his room, locked his door, and dived into the Symbol of Deathly Hallows. When he arrived at the endless void, he looked around and found the reward orbs. He called them to him and orbs floated till stopping in front of him. He discarded level one white and level two green orbs and focused on only level three, the blue orbs in front of him.

He could see white and green orbs that had rewards of usual things and nothing special. So wanted to see his blue reward.

The blue orb had a small transparent globe inside it. Domeric couldn't say what it was by just looking. So, he reached the orb, and information about reward flowed into his mind.

"Blimey! … for Merlin's sake… this is a magic core."

This time, the reward was totally worth the wait. When he took this reward, it would merge with him or more precisely it would merge with his heart and would provide him with constant magic.

With this core, he didn't need external magic sources to replenish his magic anymore.

Domeric didn't need to think twice. He stretched out his hand and grabbed the blue orb.
