Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 150: Chapter 150: The Small World

A soul contract creates a bridge between two beings, typically used by wizards to control the life and death of their contracted creatures. However, beyond this primary function, the soul bridge also allows for the transmission of information.

Wizards and their contracted creatures can communicate through this soul bridge, though Richard rarely used this feature. He had contracts with only two creatures: one was the Holy Tree Sprite, instructed not to disturb him unless necessary, and the other was a fire giant consumed as cannon fodder.

...

When the voice of the puffball echoed in his mind, Richard's emotions were indescribably complex. In an instant, the balance between life and death shifted.

Richard retrieved the crystal ball that opened the secret realm space and injected it with mana. On the other side, the World Mushroom eagerly demonstrated its capabilities.

A surge of mycelium poured from the spatial rift, swiftly engulfing Insect Inhart.

"What is this!" Insect Inhart's crystal shot beams of starlight, trying to fend off the World Mushroom's fungal tendrils, which only excited the mushroom further.

The insects' starlight power!

The four Mother Insect Guards attempted to protect Insect Inhart, but the mycelium firmly entangled them. Their once-unbreakable golden blade arms couldn't even leave a mark on the mycelium.

The World Mushroom ensnared these five insects and absorbed them into the secret realm. Richard and Ulysses then turned to eliminate the pursuing insects.

Afterward, the duo entered the Abyss of Origin, using it to enter the secret realm.

...

Upon entering the secret realm, Richard immediately sensed changes.

First was the mana concentration. Before the World Mushroom took root, the mana concentration in the secret realm fragment was only double that of the wizarding world. But after taking root, the mushroom's mycelium penetrated the world barrier into the void, converting spatial storms into nourishment, enriching the realm and increasing its mana density.

Richard took a deep breath. "Such rich mana, at least five times that of the wizarding world!"

The secret realm had transformed dramatically under the World Mushroom's influence.

At its center, the colossal World Mushroom towered skyward, its cap covering the entire sky.

Beneath it, the former sea of flowers had shrunk to a small patch, with the flora changing into trumpet-like giant blooms. From these flowers, Holy Tree Sprites emerged, flying in formation towards Richard.

These little creatures appeared unchanged.

"Boss! Look at how much stronger we are now!"

Richard used mental energy to examine them, discovering subtle connections among the sprites, allowing their energies to merge and form a cohesive unit.

With a leader, they could be considered an army.

Though barely capable of fighting bees.

The World Mushroom's modifications hadn't increased the sprites' size; they remained as small as a baby's fist.

This size limited their combat capabilities compared to larger creatures of the same level.

But Richard never intended for them to fight.

"World Mushroom, what's the situation with these little ones now?"

"Master, their abilities remain as before, but I've unlocked the shackles on their bloodline, allowing them to freely use their innate talents."

"Bloodline shackles?" Richard was puzzled.

"Yes, Master. Their bloodline was previously shackled, likely imposed by their species' upper echelons to enslave them. By removing these shackles, their abilities have significantly improved.

What you observed is their bloodline talent."

Richard was delighted at this unexpected gain and quickly asked:

"Has their ability to accelerate plant growth improved?"

"...No."

Richard's joy faded. Unlocking combat abilities in creatures not even first-tier seemed pointless.

Even if they reached first-tier, their cost-effectiveness couldn't match purchased slaves or lured elemental beings.

"However, their abilities will improve as they grow stronger, and without the bloodline shackles, their development is no longer restricted.

They can now freely become first-tier creatures."

"Oh?" Richard was surprised, then realized, "No wonder they didn't grow despite all that high-quality honey."

"Indeed, Master. The bloodline shackles prevented their advancement."

Richard regarded the Holy Tree Sprites, seeing them as flying gold mines.

Few creatures in the wizarding world could accelerate plant growth, especially magical plants. Such valuable creatures often belonged to great wizards or wizard guilds, with others only seeing them in encyclopedias or as specimens.

Wizards' long lives turned such income-generating creatures into perpetual gold mines.

"World Mushroom, can this realm grow these fungi?"

Richard produced spores of sacrificial fungus and warrior fungus from his magic pocket. The World Mushroom extended a mycelium to absorb them.

Soon, the World Mushroom responded.

"Master, why grow these inferior things? I have better options!"

A small white mushroom sprouted at Richard's feet, resembling a shiitake.

Richard picked it, tore it in half, handed one piece to Ulysses, and ate the other.

As the mushroom settled in his stomach, Richard felt a peculiar substance working within, suffusing his body with a unique life energy.

Under this energy, his cells became more active, a tingling sensation spreading throughout.

"World Mushroom, give me more of these!"

"As you wish."

Mushroom after mushroom grew at Richard's feet, which he consumed until he stopped at twenty.

The tingling had become pronounced.

Richard took a crystal ball from his pocket to test his current physical stats.

[Mental Energy: 90, Constitution: 94.1, Mana: 9000, Rating: First-Circle Wizard.]

Seeing his stats, Richard gasped. In just a minute or two, his constitution had increased by 0.1. If consumed regularly, he'd soon reach a first-circle wizard's limit.

"Caw, nice little things. Old Mushroom, any new mushrooms for soul injuries?" Ulysses called to the World Mushroom.

"..."

The World Mushroom ignored Ulysses, holding a grudge against the crow who forced the fate contract.

"Caw, Old Mushroom, I'm talking to you!" Ulysses fumed, unable to suppress the World Mushroom's growing power.

"World Mushroom, I also want to know," Richard interjected, sensing conflict brewing.

These two world dominators were his key allies; a major rift wouldn't do.

"Yes, Master."

Another mushroom sprouted at Richard's feet, which he handed to Ulysses, who squawked upon consumption.

"Caw! Old Mushroom, what gives! This is awful!"

The World Mushroom offered no response, watching Ulysses rant.

The item was made; eat it or don't.

"So, does it work?" Richard asked Ulysses.

"Caw, it does, but it's disgusting!" Ulysses complained. "Old Mushroom made it awful on purpose for the fate contract."

Richard found this plausible but didn't ask the World Mushroom to change it.

As long as it worked, taste was a minor hurdle for a world dominator like Ulysses.

"World Mushroom, can you mass-produce these mushrooms?"

Both mushrooms were valuable; selling them or turning them into potions could be lucrative.

"Master, these mushrooms come from my main body. Mass production would slow the realm's growth."

"The realm's growth?" Richard queried.

"Master, my mycelium is absorbing spatial storms and dust to expand the realm.

This secret realm's residual rules are nearly intact. With enough space and the manifestation of the four elemental rules, it might become a true world."

A true world!

Richard was stunned. Though the World Mushroom had promised this possibility, he hadn't taken it seriously.

Turning a secret realm into a world seemed far-fetched.

Richard decided:

"Then let's not mass-produce yet. Just supply me and Ulysses. Plant those spores I gave you."

Richard picked a white mushroom, asking the World Mushroom:

"Name this thing."

"Master, you should name it."

"I want you to."

"...Thank you for your generosity. Let's call it Aldo."

"Aldo? Isn't that 'hive' in Black Crystal Insect language?"

"This mushroom is for consumption; the name suits it."

"..."

The World Mushroom's hatred for Black Crystal Insects was deep, even in naming.

Having explored the realm, Richard approached the World Mushroom.

The chosen insect and four second-tier Mother Insect Guards were trapped on its stalk.

According to Ulysses, as long as the chosen lived or didn't use powerful skills, the Mother Insect God's gaze wouldn't fall here.

A secret realm was another world; even if she wanted, she couldn't see through the world barrier.

Richard eyed them with a wicked grin:

"Fresh materials; where should I start?"
