Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Sealing the Mother Insect God
With a single step, the white-robed wizard vanished.
In the sky, both the Mother Insect God and the Black Tower High Mage felt a powerful aura suddenly appear.
Unlike the Mother Insect God's alarm, the Black Tower High Mage displayed a sinister grin. "Insect, why are you speaking now?"
A blue ice figure suddenly appeared beside the Black Tower High Mage, rapidly expanding to nearly a hundred meters tall.
"Qingshuang, what do you think of this slave world?" the Black Tower High Mage inquired.
Grand Wizard Qingshuang glanced at the ground swarming with insects. "A fine world indeed. I'll take half the slaves while you keep the resources."
The Black Tower High Mage shuddered, his face twisted with anguish. "The price of enlisting your help isn't cheap."
The Mother Insect God, observing the newly arrived wizard, felt an overwhelming sense of caution.
Though it was apparent that this wizard wasn't present in his full form, and his avatar's power was only a fraction of the original, instinct warned the Mother Insect God not to underestimate him.
"This insect is quite troublesome to kill," Grand Wizard Qingshuang remarked, eyeing the Mother Insect God. "My avatar only wields a third of my true power. How about you keep it occupied while I use sealing magic?"
The Black Tower High Mage nodded. "As you wish."
With that, his black robes expanded, recreating the domain he had first used against the Mother Insect God.
The Mother Insect God let out a low hum, causing the insect swarm below to hesitate briefly before beginning a retreat.
Finally, the Mother Insect God made its move.
A grand golden light emanated from its center, expanding outward. Within the realm of this light, countless insect phantoms rose.
Such a technique was known as the Divine Kingdom among the civilizations of the gods, and in the wizarding world, it had a similar counterpart: the domain cast by the Black Tower High Mage.
Only a domain could counter another domain.
Confident in its ability to maintain balance, even against two Grand Wizards, the Mother Insect God relied on the world's protection.
Where the two domains intersected, a chaotic boundary line emerged.
Along this boundary, the insect spirits charged at the indescribable entities within the Black Tower High Mage's domain.
These were the elite insects of the Black Crystal Insect Clan—high priests, grand leaders—once second only to the Mother Insect God itself.
Compared to these spirits, the entities within the Black Tower High Mage's domain appeared inferior, and his domain continued to shrink.
Yet, the Mother Insect God found no cause to rejoice. Its gaze remained fixed on Grand Wizard Qingshuang, whose presence grew increasingly menacing.
Suddenly, Qingshuang extended his hand, conjuring a spreading blue frost. As his aura waned, the Mother Insect God shuddered.
It realized the wizard's intent.
The golden Divine Kingdom rapidly contracted, and the Mother Insect God slashed through space with its blade-like limbs, attempting to escape.
But in the void, tendrils awaited.
Qingshuang hurled the frost, inescapably striking the Mother Insect God.
Immediately, blue frost crept over the Mother Insect God's form, resisting its golden light's attempts to halt it, continually proliferating.
"Your Dead Silence Ice Mountain Sealing Technique seems even stronger," the Black Tower High Mage noted, observing the ever-spreading frost. "Looks like you're nearing the fifth circle."
Qingshuang replied coolly, "Recent breakthroughs in my research, a slight refinement."
The Dead Silence Ice Mountain Sealing Technique was Qingshuang's signature spell, perfected since his apprenticeship. Now a Grand Wizard, this sealing spell could even imprison a world dominator.
Despite the Mother Insect God's struggles, its colossal form, imbued with radiant golden light like the sun, gradually slowed under the relentless frost.
On the ground, Richard switched to an energy view.
Within the frost covering the Mother Insect God, a dense web of energy pathways formed a complex three-dimensional structure, continually replicating and linking with older structures, like a massive net enveloping the Mother Insect God.
The frost absorbed the Mother Insect God's energy for expansion. The fiercer its struggle, the faster the frost spread.
Suddenly, Richard lowered his gaze, wiping his eyes as a tear of blood trickled down.
"Ah, the brilliance of this magic is truly blinding."
...
Half a day later, the Mother Insect God's final segment was encased in ice, a golden light shooting from the black crystal on its forehead, vanishing into the void.
Even the Black Tower High Mage couldn't intercept this light.
But it was inconsequential.
The body containing ninety-nine percent of the Mother Insect God's power was sealed in the ice mountain. Even if part of its soul escaped, it was irrelevant.
The world had lost its ace.
With a crash, the blue ice mountain plummeted from the sky, the Mother Insect God inside appearing like an insect trapped in amber.
"This insect was no simple foe. This seal should last about five hundred years. After that, the mountain will break apart, so hopefully, you'll be ready," Qingshuang stated calmly.
After all, collecting half the world's slaves required some aftercare.
"Five hundred years... That'll do."
The Black Tower High Mage's form shrank to a mere dozen meters, flying to the center of the Floating City.
He shouted to the wizards below:
"Everyone, the world dominator of the Insect Nest World has been sealed by me and Grand Wizard Qingshuang. We've won this planar war!"
"…Oh!"
"We've won!"
"I survived! I survived!"
The ground erupted in celebration as wizards embraced, regardless of familiarity, celebrating their victory.
With the world dominator dealt with, the remaining insects were merely future slaves.
...
Three days after the decisive battle.
"Master, that's how it happened. I'm not sure how such conduct is handled in war."
In a room within the command tower, Richard sat across from Suzanna, recounting his experiences in the Third War Zone, complete with evidence.
"Retreating in the face of the enemy... This can be minor or major," Suzanna mused, leaning back with a bone pipe in hand.
"But since you've brought it to me, it can't be minor. Even if he avoids court-martial, his grandfather will have to cough up a lot of magic stones."
Suzanna retrieved a crystal ball from her pocket and spoke into it.
"Bring the Third War Zone records to room 4012."
Shortly, a wizard entered, carrying a thick iron-bound book, its cover embossed with a lion's head.
Suzanna accepted the book, tapping the lion's head.
"Book spirit, wake up and find the information on Fortress 351."
The lion's head opened its eyes, yawning like a person.
"Suzanna, you always disturb my slumber."
The book opened, blank pages filling with text.
"Let me see, Fortress 351 commander Lukasz... Hmm? Forced to retreat after encountering war behemoths?"
Suzanna frowned as she read. The records differed significantly from Richard's account.
According to the records, Fortress 351 performed admirably, retreating due to the overwhelming force of the war behemoths.
This conflicted with Richard's testimony.
"Falsifying records," Suzanna snapped the book shut, flames flickering around her.
"Richard, are you sure your records aren't fabricated?"
Richard's expression turned solemn. "Of course not, or I wouldn't dare ask for your help."
Suzanna's lips curled into a smile:
"Kid, come with me. Let's earn some extra cash."
...
At the Qingshuang First Wizard Regiment's base, Commander Andrei looked troubled as he faced Suzanna.
"Master Suzanna, please, what do you want?"
"Commander Andrei, what are you saying?" Suzanna set her teacup down. "It sounds like I'm here to extort you.
I merely found discrepancies in the records and came to verify with you."
Andrei sighed. How unlucky the regiment was to have its falsified records exposed.
And by Suzanna, no less.
Everyone knew Suzanna was the Black Tower High Mage's only living disciple. As long as she had reason, there was little she couldn't do in this war.
"Name your price, Master. How can this matter be resolved?" Andrei sat across from Suzanna, producing a soul contract from his pocket.
"What is this?" Suzanna frowned. "Bribery?"
Andrei cursed inwardly, maintaining a calm facade. "Bribery? No, I wish to engage Master Suzanna in a fair and equitable transaction.
Our regiment needs you as our evocation magic consultant. Here's your contract."
Suzanna nodded approvingly, jotting a figure on the contract.
Andrei glanced at the number, feeling a pang of pain.
It was precisely at his limit.
"Master, you're quite the negotiator."
Reluctantly, Andrei signed his name, the contract burning to ash, forging an invisible bond between them.
"Practice makes perfect," Suzanna chuckled slyly, producing a document listing the details of Fortresses 351 and 352.
"Your other errors are minor, but these fortresses need addressing. Fortress 352 valiantly held against the war behemoths for six hours, retreating only after my order.
Fortress 351, however, fled at the sight of the enemy, appropriating Fortress 352's encounter with the behemoths in its report.
This won't do.
The command has decided to commend all of Fortress 352's members, while Fortress 351's commander faces court-martial."
Andrei glanced at Fortress 351's commander, saying coldly:
"Do as you see fit, Master."
"Oh?" Suzanna raised an eyebrow. "Something happened?"
Andrei shook his head:
"Nothing major, just that the kid's grandfather passed away."
