Work Prophet

Chapter 101: The Grand Entrance of the Steel Army

The composition of the newly emerged Steel Army on the side of the Resistance Army could be described as extremely varied.

It included agricultural machinery such as combine harvesters, tractors, and balers, as well as construction equipment like bulldozers, forklifts, and concrete mixers.

Without exception, all were contributed by "Eco-friendly Frog", who had already spent nearly eight hundred days on the Bratis Continent. Given its rate of picking up one piece of trash per day, it had collected almost eight hundred pieces of trash.

Furthermore, Li Yu observed that this little frog seemed to prefer picking up larger items. He wondered if it was because in its eyes, bigger was better.

Anyway, it had even hauled away an abandoned Iron Tower for the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect, so it seemed only logical to grab some mechanical equipment as well.

But the problem was that these machines either burned diesel or gasoline, fuels that, given the level of civilization on the Bratis Continent, could not be produced locally in the short term and had to be brought over by Li Yu from another plane.

This meant that the cost of operating them was exorbitantly high and they could only run for a very short time, making it a losing proposition.

If chosen to be dismantled, some steel parts could be recycled, but Li Yu felt it was a pity, so he found a place to stack them all up and let them gather dust.

It wasn't until before this great war that the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect remembered them again.

If they were to be used occasionally in a single battle, then Li Yu might be able to supply the necessary fuel to drive them.

Later, he also sought out Gu Qian and Ge Lipeng, requesting them to make some weaponized modifications to these civilian machines.

These modern steel creations were already dimensionally overpowering in medieval warfare, with power and defense capabilities far surpassing the era.

If a Knight clad in plate armor was a mobile fortress, then the bulldozer could be compared to a super-temporal stronghold.

In addition, as per Li Yu's request, Ge Lipeng even removed the glass windows and replaced them with thick steel plates, reinforcing the body and leaving only a narrow observation slit in the front windshield.

In fact, according to his original idea, he did not even want to leave this observation slit, but to seal it completely, and just mount a periscope on the roof.

However, his concept was vetoed by other transmigrators, because the periscope looked too awkward, and the bulldozer was already very tall, so even if a slot was left for the driver, there wouldn't be much danger.

If there were some foolhardy souls who dared to charge at it, they could simply be flung away, man and horse together.

After such modifications, the bulldozer transformed directly into an armored vehicle, and it didn't need to attack much; just by plunging into a crowd, it could instantly plow a bloody path.

However, in terms of operational experience, the excavator was clearly superior. Compared to the bulldozer's front shovel, the mechanical arm was undoubtedly more flexible.

It could even "wave" provocatively at the opposing Noble Knights, wait for them to charge over, then flick its claw lightly to send them flying like swatting a fly.

But in terms of visual impact, the combine harvester took the prize. When its cutting deck started spinning, the blades whirled around, turning it into a veritable meat grinder.

Wherever it went, the enemy troops scattered and fled in all directions, wishing they had been born with a few more legs.

The addition of this mechanical squad and the accompanying Black Hound Guards massively increased the pressure on the Alliance Army.

Although the casualties were still not unbearable, these strange steel behemoths, like the Italian Cannons, brought an incredibly strong psychological shock to the enemy.

More and more people were starting to believe that the gods truly were aiding the Resistance Army.

Tristan no longer cared about saving face, he still prioritized victory. Seeing the situation increasingly turning against his side, he decisively sent people to seek help from the Wing Tribe behind them.

However, those Wing Clan Warriors completely ignored his plea for help and not even a single glance came his way.

All their attention was on the White Dragon, and they faced it as if they were confronting a formidable enemy.

Perhaps reminded of the previous defeat at the hands of the White Queen, the Storm Monarch raised his head and let out a roar, intending to regain some dignity.

But for some reason, the dragon's roar sounded somewhat hollow, and the Azure Dragon, though it bellowed mightily, was hesitant to advance until the Wing Tribe brandished their War Spears, threatening and cajoling until it unwillingly flew forward a bit more.

Yet on this short stretch, the Azure Dragon kept looking back with a deep sense of grievance, appearing much like a wronged young wife.

In contrast, the White Dragon seemed completely calm and collected.

It wasn't until the Azure Dragon was nearly upon it that the White Dragon shook its wings and met the challenger head-on, moving as swiftly as a bolt of lightning.

The Storm Monarch was startled and decided not to engage the White Queen, tucking his tail and hastily retreating backward, causing the Wing Tribe to frequently frown.

The Azure Dragon's behavior was nothing short of a disgrace to giant dragons. At this moment, there wasn't a hint of the domineering presence of the ruler of the skies, but rather it resembled a dog that had lost its home.

But the Storm Monarch felt wronged, as of the three dragons, it was the least capable of fighting; moreover, the White Queen's strength had inexplicably surged.

Previously, even when it had teamed up with the Red Grim Reaper, they were utterly incapable of defeating the White Queen, and the Red Death God had suffered severe injuries. Now left alone, the Azure Dragon wasn't foolish and naturally did not wish to throw its life away.

Fortunately, the Wing Tribe's mission for it was not to defeat the White Death God but merely to lure the latter over.

And those Wing Clan Warriors were already prepared. They were organized into squads of ten, making up more than twenty squads in total. Half of the squads held War Spears, while the others held iron chains.

These were the ancient Dragon Hunting techniques passed down by the ancestors of the Wing Tribe. Those with the War Spears were responsible for harassing the giant dragon, drawing its attention to create opportunities for others to loop the iron chains around the dragon's wings.

As long as they could restrain the giant dragon and cause it to lose its ability to fly, forcing it to fall from the sky, even if it didn't die, it would be left with only a fraction of its life.

The only problem was that Solomon had originally prepared a thousand people to execute this Dragon Hunting plan.

However, a sudden curse had inflicted heavy losses on the Wing Tribe, and they also had to leave enough troops to defend Lake City against possible internal strife, leaving only three hundred people available in the end.

And in just a few short days, over twenty of these three hundred people had been stricken with that ever-persistent curse, losing their combat effectiveness.

So in reality, only two hundred and seventy people were able to participate in the final action, far below Solomon's psychological threshold.

Especially considering that they were up against an exceptionally strong opponent this time, this number of people seemed woefully inadequate.

But Solomon had no other choice. He could not gather any more troops and could only hope that these three hundred could create a Miracle and defeat the rebel White Queen.

Only then would they stand a chance of winning this great battle.
