Work Prophet

Chapter 88 Lannita's Small Moves

Lannita left Lord Solomon's room with furrowed brows.

She understood the Wing Clan Commander well; he was politically astute and flexible, yet when it came to military matters, he would not compromise or yield.

Previously, when Shajia had provoked and threatened him, commanding him to deploy troops to the western territories, he had refused without hesitation. Now, the Wing Tribe girl wanted him to delay the battle by a few days, but Solomon would not agree just the same.

But Lannita did not intend to give up, as her own life was at stake; the Wing Tribe girl did not wish to take any risks.

Moreover, having witnessed the White Queen singlehandedly defeat the Storm Monarch and the Red Grim Reaper, Lannita gained a deeper insight into Li Yu's capabilities.

She was becoming more convinced that the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect had cursed her, and what's more fatal was that the wizards were also helpless against this invisible curse.

Once Lannita returned to her room, she suddenly felt the world spinning and found it difficult to breathe.

The Wing Tribe girl had to lean on the table to keep herself from falling, and the wizard Hanna quickly came forward to support her.

"Lady Lannita, are you alright?"

"I'm fine," the Wing Tribe girl recovered slightly after a brief moment, feeling the previous suffocation in her chest relieved.

Hanna worriedly said, "Why don't you tell Lord Solomon the truth, tell him you've been cursed by that evil Prophet, and ask him to stop the military campaign immediately?"

Lannita shook her head, "I can't prove a connection between the two, and ever since I came to the Brass Body, although Solomon has been cooperative, he actually doesn't like me shadowing him,

"Having every move observed by the Wizard Association. So as soon as I confess to him that I've been cursed, he will certainly keep me here to recuperate and prevent me from joining the upcoming war."

"Indeed, you need to rest," Hanna said.

"The time is not right yet," Lannita took a deep breath, "I need to find a way to have Solomon stay and keep me company for another seven days."

The Wing Tribe girl murmured, "Solomon doesn't want to listen to me, but maybe I can find a way around it, starting with the people below.

"Wizard Hanna, I need your help to bring me the tribe chiefs for a talk, a private one… Oh, and if you can find them, include the dwarves and those noble lords as well."

"But your health…"

"I can still hold out," Lannita finished speaking, but suddenly her calf twitched, and a pained expression crossed her face, her head and lower limbs involuntarily bending backward.

This eerie scene stunned Hanna who stood by.

Not until the Wing Tribe girl spoke again did Hanna snap out of it, "Have you seen enough?"

Her tone was both heavy and cold, prompting Hanna to quickly bow and leave the Wing Tribe girl's room.

At this moment, Hanna's mind was in turmoil; should Solomon learn of the tasks Lannita had assigned her, he would surely be furious.

Having followed Solomon to the Bratis Continent, Hanna had watched him win one battle after another, conquering towns and fortresses one by one.

Her admiration for the Wing Clan Commander was inexhaustible; however, the Wizard Association, which Lannita represented, oversaw all wizards.

Offending Solomon could at most result in being sent back to the Hardland Continent, but to offend the Wizard Association could mean losing her status as a wizard, or even facing the threat of death.

Thus, the choice was not difficult.

Hanna soon found several military officers she was acquainted with. She did not reveal her true intentions at first, merely stating that Lady Lannita wanted to meet with them.

Like all members of the Wing Tribe, these officers greatly respected the Wizard Association. Upon hearing the summons, they didn't think too much and were quickly brought back by Hannah.

Following the customs of the Winged People, they approached Lannita and rubbed her neck in greeting, asking the young Winged Woman how she was before stepping aside.

Then, Lannita turned to look at Hannah, who understood the unspoken message, silently exited the room, and closed the door behind her as she left.

In just one afternoon, Lannita had met with no less than forty or fifty individuals, most of them from the Wing Tribe, along with some Dwarves, Half-Beasts, and humans.

By evening, the young Winged Girl was so exhausted to the extreme, that when Hannah brought more visitors, a knock on the door elicited no response from inside.

Hannah was startled and, without further ado, pushed the door open to find Lannita prostrate on the ground, her eyes closed, her body convulsing.

Hannah drew the small knife she carried and immediately began to bleed the young Winged Woman.

After collecting half a bowl of blood, she took out some herbs she carried, chewed on a few, then spat them out and applied the masticated mass to the wound.

She chanted under her breath as she practiced her witchcraft.

Dancing and gesturing for a while, Hannah even approached Lannita and breathed into the latter's nostrils.

After some time the young Winged Girl's convulsions finally ceased, and Lannita reopened her eyes, looking bewildered. "Where... where am I?" she asked.

"You're in your room, Lady Lannita."

The Winged Girl shook her head, taking a while to regain her bearings. "Where did I... stop, and who's next? Oh, right, the fellow in charge of the dragons, what's his name, David, or Yinuo?"

"I've already sent Lord Yino back; you must stop receiving visitors now. You've already seen many people today; what you need most is rest."

Hannah picked up Lannita and gently placed her on the bed.

But the Winged Girl shook her head and said, "No, I must finish seeing everyone before Solomon realizes what's happening, otherwise..."

"Forgive me for being blunt, but if you go on like this, you are likely not going to see tomorrow's sun," Hannah said.

"It makes no difference; I'm dead either way," Lannita said, yawning, feeling her eyelids grow heavier. "I... I must stop the army in seven... seven days..."

She couldn't finish her sentence and closed her mouth.

Hannah checked under her nose for breath and fortunately, the young Winged Girl was still breathing; it seemed she had just passed out into a deep sleep.

Hannah sighed in relief and paced around the room a few times but ultimately made up her mind and went to the entrance of Solomon's bedroom.

Now, Solomon was probably the only one who could save Lannita.

The Wing Clan Commander also hadn't gone to bed yet; at this late hour, there was still light in his room. Seeing that it was the Wizard Hannah, the guard immediately went in to announce her.

Solomon's voice came from inside, "Come in."

Hannah entered, her face showing surprise because inside she saw many familiar faces, all officers who had just recently been led by her to visit Lannita.

Solomon seemed to be scrutinizing Hannah's expression and, after a moment, he spoke. "What is it, you seem puzzled?"

"Ah, I don't know what you're talking about." Hannah was somewhat flustered.

"This is my army. You and Lannita really didn't think that you could engage in those little schemes right under my nose and expect to keep them from me, did you?" Solomon said indifferently.
