Chapter 15: Plans With Ralph
James walked down the familiar path to Ralph's house, the morning sun warm against his skin. The streets were quiet, save for the distant sound of traffic and the chirping of birds.
He kept his hands in his pockets, with his mind lost in thought.
Forty thousand dollars.
Even now, the numbers still feels like a dream. Just a few days ago, he could barely imagine having that kind of money, let alone in his own bank account. Now, it was his reality.
But with the money came decisions—big ones.
James had spent most of the morning thinking about how to use it. He knew he couldn't blow it carelessly. Every dollar had to count.
He let out a breath as he turned a corner.
$25,000 for business. That was the bulk of his plan. The only way to keep growing his money without raising eyebrows was to start something legitimate.
A business would give him a cover for the wealth he was accumulating. It would explain where the money was coming from when questions started popping up.
But what kind of business? That was the question he hoped Ralph could help answer. Ralph knew how to flip cash fast, and James needed advice on investments with quick returns and low risks.
$10,000 to unlock the system store. This was non-negotiable. He needed access to the store. There was no telling what kind of opportunities lay behind that locked feature.
If the rebate system had already turned his life around in just a few days, the store might hold the tools he needed to climb even higher. Maybe there would be skills, items, or resources that could speed up his growth.
He wasn't sure. But he was certain of one thing—if he wanted to stay ahead, he needed every advantage he could get.
And finally, $5,000 for himself and the family.
James smiled faintly at the thought. He wasn't going to spend it recklessly, but Patty and Leslie deserved a break.
Maybe he'd take them out for a nice dinner or buy something for the house. For everything Patty had done for him, she deserved more than a simple thank you.
He wasn't ready to pay off the mortgage or make big financial moves that would make her suspicious, but he could at least give her and Leslie a taste of what was coming.
No more worrying about unpaid bills or minor expenses. Not for them. Not anymore.
James sighed. The road ahead was long, and he knew things were only going to get harder. But he was very happy as he knew that the future was looking very favourable for them.
A breeze swept past him, and he looked up to see Ralph's place coming into view. The small house wasn't much, but it was comfortable.
As James approached the door, he slowed his steps. His mind kept circling back to the $25,000 he planned to invest.
What kind of business could he build that would make sense? Electronics repair was something he knew well, but could that scale fast enough?
Should he dive into reselling tech or maybe flipping cars? With the rebate system, any profit he made would be multiplied tenfold. If he played his cards right, he could turn that $25,000 into a fortune.
But he also couldn't afford to make reckless moves. One wrong step and everything could come crashing down.
The gambling route had worked temporarily, but it wasn't sustainable. He needed something stable. Something that wouldn't put him at risk of losing everything he had worked for.
Ralph had to have some ideas. He always did.
James raised his hand and knocked on the door.
A few moments passed before he heard footsteps from inside. The door swung open, and Ralph stood there, a grin already on his face.
"Yo, James. You didn't waste any time, huh? So, what's the big plans you wanted to discuss with me?" Ralph asked, stepping aside to let him in.
James smirked as he walked in. "You won't believe what happened."
Ralph closed the door behind him and followed James into the living room. The place was the same as always—messy but comfortable.
A couple of gaming controllers lay on the couch, and a laptop sat open on the coffee table, charts and graphs flashing on the screen.
"So, what's up?" Ralph asked, dropping onto the couch. "From the look on your face, I can tell that it's something big. Tell me and stop keeping me in the dark."
James took a seat across from him and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees.
"I've got twenty-five grand sitting in my account right now," he said, watching Ralph's reaction closely.
Ralph raised an eyebrow, a whistle escaping his lips. "Dayum. What the f*ck? How?"
James shrugged. "Well, I used your strategy, made some quick cash and I decided to use it to play some betting slips, and I won!"
Ralph burst into laughter when he heard James' explanation. He couldn't believe that his friend who was struggling with money just yesterday, made $25k overnight.
"So, what's the plan? You didn't come here just to brag, did you?" Ralph asked, though his grin said he wouldn't blame him if he did.
"I want to put the money into a business," James replied.
"Everything?" Ralph asked, and James nodded in response.
Ralph leaned back, folding his arms. "A business, huh? Sounds like you're finally thinking long-term. What kind of business?"
"That's why I'm here," James admitted. "I have no idea. I need something that won't take too long to set up. Something that can bring in steady profits. Fast."
Ralph tapped his chin thoughtfully. "You want something scalable, something that doesn't look suspicious but can grow quickly. Right?"
"Exactly."
"Well…" Ralph started, glancing at his laptop. "You ever think about e-commerce? Online stores are popping off right now. If you can find a niche product and market it right, you could flip that cash in no time."
James considered it. "E-commerce, huh? I don't think I will have the time to manage something like that. I was thinking maybe something along the line of creating our own memecoins, token or coin, or stuffs like that. With $25k, we should be able to create something tangible and make it profitable. Right?" James asked, and Ralph nodded slowly, as he thought about it.
"Memecoins, tokens and coins, those are good ideas but they are not as easy as they look. Memecoins are cheap to create but their longevity is zero to none. It's hard for a memecoin to last a month and still have value. Those that do, get listed.
As for tokens, let's say I don't see much worth to them. For coins, I do not need to tell you how expensive it is to create coins. Even with $25k, you will still need a lot more funds." Ralph explained.
"So, what do we do?" James asked.
"Even if I said all that, it doesn't mean that all hope is lost. We still have other options and the memecoin option is still open. I can create a memecoin, we will push it and try to get it into the right circle so that it can be listed quickly, but it's going to take a lot from us. We also have the option of creating a dex but I don't know how that will go." Ralph smiled.
"But tell me something, James. Are you really serious about doing this?" He asked in confirmation.
"Yes, I am." James replied.
"Good. Give me a week to do my research and I will get back to you. In the meantime, don't touch that money," he said, and James nodded.
"Perfect. This might be our opportunity to finally achieve financial freedom."
