Chapter 4: Patty And Leslie
James slipped into a fresh set of clothes, feeling refreshed after washing away the grime of yesterday.
After putting on his clothes, he looked at himself in the mirror and nodded in satisfaction.
He was very satisfied with his appearance. Though, he's not as beautiful as the BTS boys, but he was by no means ugly.
His short, dark hair framed his striking face, complimented by his amber-brown and ocean-blue eyes, a straight nose, narrow lips, and a defined jawline. He'd rate himself an 8 or 9 out of 10—not Henry Canvill-level, but definitely good-looking.
And this has been proven by the fact that he has actually been asked out a couple of times by equally beautiful girls... and women. The most memorable one of them all was from a professor.
He remembered the day she blocked him in the hallway and called him into her office without telling him anything. Initially, James thought that he was either in some sort of trouble or that she needed his help. But he was shocked when he saw her coming on him.
When James saw her action, he thought she was trying to play a prank but when he saw her starting to slowly unbutton her clothes, he took it as his cue to leave.
That particular experience made him to understand what Joseph went through with Potiphar's wife.
Ahem, back to the present. James smiled at himself in the mirror, before leaving his room.
He climbed down the stairs and halfway, his nostrils was hit by a very mouthwatering aroma that made him hungry immediately.
He can't be blamed. Patty, his foster mom, cooks in a way that anyone would be hungry immediately after the foods aroma gets into their nose.
James climbed down the stairs and went to the kitchen to greet the person responsible for the aroma that has enveloped everywhere.
Walking into the kitchen, he caught a side view of his foster mom, Patricia, standing at the stove, with a steaming pot resting on it.
He smiled as he slowly walked towards her, and hugged her from behind, and gave her a light peck on her cheek.
"Hey, Patty," he greeted, still hugging her from behind.
"Hey, honey," Patty replied his greeting, with a smile on her face.
"I'm cooking your favourite. Just give me a few minutes, it will be ready," she said, opening the pot and lightly stirring its content.
"Ok. As always, your cooking is the best," James said and gave Patty one more peck on the cheek, before releasing her from his hug.
Patty chuckled and smiled at James' action, before turning her attention to what she was cooking.
He walked to the fridge and poured himself a cold glass of water, which he quickly downed before leaving Patty alone in the kitchen to continue working her magic.
He walked to the living room and saw his Leslie seated on the sofa, deeply engrossed in the tv show she's watching.
From how engrossed she was in the tv show and totally unaware of his presence, James knew that this was her be favourite tv show.
Seeing this, James thought of something and smiled mischievously. He walked to a sofa and took his seat.
"Jim. You're here. Come watch this series with me. It's so good! I have no idea why I haven't watched it," she said, with a bright smile on her face.
James nodded in satisfaction when he saw how how happy she was. He felt that her happiness was ripe for harvesting, and make things even better for him, a scene where two of the side characters who were previously in a relationship, were fighting, was being shown.
"Nate and Maddy later got back together at the end of the season," James said, making sure his voice was more than loud enough for Leslie to hear.
After what he said, James turned to continue watching the series like nothing ever happened. But all that was a lie, as he was using his side eye to watch for Leslie's reaction.
Just as he has expected and wanted, he saw slowly turned to look at him with burning rage in her eyes.
"No, they did not," she said, through gritted teeth, with her most intimidating voice.
"They did but it doesn't matter if they did or not, as you will know by the end of the season," James said, doing his best to put on the best neutral look he could come up.
He knew that he has already achieved what he wanted and Leslie was also aware of this, and thus her next reaction.
"I. Hate. You. I. Curse you to bring single for eternity. You will never get a kiss from a girl till you die!"
James smirked and licked his lips in satisfaction when he saw Leslie's reaction.
"1-1. That's payback for scaring me like that,' he said, with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Hehehe. I got you good. You should have seen how pale your face was. It was like you saw an actual ghost. Don't worry though. There's more from where that came from. I will zealously continue my role in bringing colour to your extremely boring life," Leslie said with a proud smile on her face.
"Trust me, you have no idea how interesting my life has become," James smiled.
"Mmmm... Now, I'm curious. Have you finally found a girlfriend? After twenty long years of a streak of being in singledom and being a singlet, did you finall6gst yourself a girlfriend?" Leslie asked, looking at with curiosity and anticipation clearly written on her face.
"No, I haven't gotten a girlfriend. And why did you think my life became interesting because of a girl? Must I have a girl in my life before it can interesting?" James asked, looking at Leslie with a questioning look on his face.
"Ohh... It's not because of a girl. Then, I'm not interested," Leslie said, with a visible look of disappointment on her face.
"And yes, your life can never be interesting without a girl. The drama and stress that comes with us is something of extreme value, interest." She added before turning her attention to the tv show she was watching.
James could only shake his head. He wanted to respond to Leslie's words but with his knowledge on her personality, he decided to hold his peace.
The next moment, Patty's voice cut through the air and reached their ears.
"The two of you should stop your childishness and come eat."
James and Leslie immediately stood up and walked to the dining table, where Patty had set a banquet.
James smiled and licked his lips when he saw the delicacy in front of him. He quickly took his seat seat and started eating.
....
Few minutes later, James was done devouring the food on his plate and thanked Patty, before he stood up and took his dish to the sink.
After that, he pecked Patty on the cheek as a thank you, and flipped Leslie a middle finger, before going to his room.
Arriving in his room, he locked the door and walked to his bed.
"I now have your time," he said, as he sat down on his bed and called up his info screen.
