World's Richest Man: I Leaped Across Time

Chapter 167: StockX

After some time talking, I finally glanced at her with a lighter mood. "Have you eaten anything yet?"

She shook her head. "No."

I rubbed my eyes and leaned back. "I really need some sleep, but I'll order something before I crash. What do you feel like?"

"Chinese," she said without hesitatio.

"Chinese it is," I said with a faint grin, already pulling out my phone.

...

I woke up with a start, disoriented by how dark the room was. Checking the clock, I realized it was almost 5 a.m. I had slept for nearly 11 hours.

As I shifted slightly, I noticed Charlotte lying beside me in white pajamas, her face soft and peaceful. I hadn't even realized when she'd come to bed. Her hand rested lightly on my arm, and I carefully lifted it, making sure not to wake her.

Slipping out of bed, I padded quietly to the kitchen. Beside the hum of the refrigerator it was totally quiet. I made myself a coffee and swallowed a few pills from the containers.

With the warm mug in hand, I headed to my office, shutting the door behind me as softly as I could.

I sank into my chair, the glow of the dual monitors reflecting off the darkened room as I powered up the setup.

I stood up and moved the curtains aside. I could see the bodyguards standing by the car.

It was dark, with only some streetlights lighting up the road.

Perfect time to look at the stock market.

I sipped my coffee and pulled up my market dashboards.

The S&P 500 was on a slow grind upwards, hovering around 1,130 in April and inching towards 1,140 by May. People were cautiously bullish after the post-Iraq War recovery, but you could feel the tension—like a balloon stretched just a bit too tight.

It could be said that the next few months would be a boring period in the market.

The NASDAQ was still shaky and commodities weren't that hot either.

Meanwhile, energy stocks were red-hot, by far the strongest sector at the moment.

But let's talk penny stocks. Now that was where the adrenaline lived. Biotech plays were exploding with every wild promise of a cure, while tiny mining companies were capitalizing on rising gold prices.

Of course, the pump-and-dump scams were everywhere—OTC and pink sheets were basically the Vegas Strip of the market.

But, there were always diamonds in the dirt.

'What do I do with 3 Billion dollars?' I thought.

For the next few hours, I was scanning ticker after ticker, sifting through stocks and noting down interesting prospects on paper.

BRRRRR

A small vibration from inside the desk snapped me out of my trance.

My hand reached instinctively for the drawer, pulling out the special phone Ava had given me.

I picked up. "Yes. Talk to me."

"We're starting up Bitcoin soon." Her tone was casual. "You should probably load up."

I twirled a pen in my hand. "Interesting," I said, noncommittally. Then, without missing a beat, I asked, "What about Hunter Rothschild? Any leads?"

She exhaled. "Chill out. We're on it, but I doubt it will be easy. Either he's dead or someone's taking information from him and hiding him so well that finding him won't be possible."

I stared at the monitors, my mind drifting. "Next meeting of Freewinds is on Friday the 25th."

'I wonder if someone else has already managed to find him.'

"Alright, alright... we're doing what we can. You better think about how you can help us. So far we only got demands from you. My boyfriend's patience is limited." Explore new worlds at empire

"I've been thinking," I said, tapping my pen against the desk, "would it be possible to create a fake anonymous persona online? Something intelligence agencies would have a hard time tracing."

"Why would you need that?" I could feel her curiosity soaring.

"I have a little plan," I said, the edges of a grin forming. "If I can gain people's trust and recognition, I could build a following… something to kickstart your vision."

"If you're thinking of using the dark web, that won't be hard. But if you're planning to use the usual network, it gets more complicated. You'll need a physical VPN, a firewall, and a few other things. I can get someone to set it up for you."

"That would be great," I said, already envisioning the possibilities.

"Alright," she replied, "I'll give you a call when they're about to come to your house."

As the line went dead, I leaned forward, staring at the stocks on the screen but barely registering the numbers.

From now on I'm going to shift my focus.

If the goal is to amass as much wealth as possible, as fast as possible, the money must move.

The rich hoard their cash, park it in safe assets.

But If I want exponential returns, I need to make not only my money flow, but everyones money flow, so that it can be transfered.

From now on, I will need to play dirtier. I need to steal from the rich.

Breaking bears could be my opening move—and for good reason. Retail traders rarely have the tools or access to short stocks effectively; the deck is stacked against them. The big funds, on the other hand, control the lion's share of short positions.

They circle like piranhas, waiting for naive bulls to stumble into the water.

I could help retail traders make money, and as everyday people benefit from my trades, I could gain their following.

Finally, building a persona for myself—a way to make retail love me, a way to start a war between the poor and the rich, changing the distribution, like Robin Hood.

Of course, one over-shorted penny stock wouldn't make me much money, but diversifying over many industries, squeezing many stocks, that will bring attention.

And the stories is what I'm looking for.

Someting to start a movement.

I started scouring the web for forums where amateur investors gathered. It didn't take long to stumble upon a site called StockX.

I remembered using it in my past life to run an AI engine that calculated people's mood in the market that would help the Johnson family in shorting the right stocks...

This was the place where people swapped investment tips and hyped up penny stocks with the enthusiasm of gamblers at a casino.

A grin spread across my face.

This was where it would begin.
