Similarly, Shikaku Nara was a smart man. He knew that while the Ino-Shika-Chō trio held high status, their clans didn't have a prodigy like Minato Namikaze.

After all, the Hokage was the leader of the village, and strength was paramount.

In such a situation, even if Shikaku had ambitions to become Hokage, he wouldn't do something so foolish that would only benefit others.

That left only Danzō Shimura.

Could it be that Danzō wanted to ally with Kirigakure, have Konoha lose the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, and pin the blame on him, the Hokage, forcing him to step down as he did at the end of the Third Great Ninja War?

Then, Mei waved her hand, her expression turning serious.

"I promise you, once I become Mizukage, Kirigakure will be the eternal ally of the Uchiha clan."

Mei's choice of words was precise.

Not an ally of Konoha, but an ally of the Uchiha clan.

She had already foreseen that one day, the Uchiha would come into conflict with Konoha.

"Good, I'll remember that."
