Chapter 89: 089 Hiruzen's Suspicions, Mei's Confession
"Teacher."
Hiruzen Sarutobi's tone was heavy.
"The situation is critical, and I don't have time to explain much. About summoning you through the Impure World Reincarnation..."
Before Hiruzen could finish, Tobirama Senju waved his hand to interrupt.
"You don't need to feel like this is an offense to me. When I created this technique, it was precisely for moments of crisis like this. Now that I can be the first to be summoned by it, my efforts back then weren't in vain."
Hearing that Tobirama didn't mind, Hiruzen finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, summoning the dead back from the pure land was somewhat disrespectful.
Fortunately, it seemed his teacher wasn't a hypocrite. Even after being summoned through the Impure World Reincarnation, he showed no signs of displeasure.
"So, who's the enemy?"
Hiruzen quickly responded.
"Teacher, it's the people from Kirigakure. They've come to steal the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki!"
"The Nine-Tails Jinchūriki?"
Tobirama frowned slightly, glancing at the baby sleeping soundly in the crib nearby. He pointed at the sealing formulas on the baby's stomach.
"Don't tell me this is the current Nine-Tails Jinchūriki?"
"Well..."
Hiruzen smiled awkwardly.
"There are many reasons, and I don't have time to explain them all right now."
"Then we'll talk about it later."
Tobirama said casually, his body erupting with intense chakra fluctuation as he walked toward the door.
"Let me see if Kirigakure's Water Release has improved over the years."
The sacrifice used to summon Tobirama through the Impure World Reincarnation was a member of the Anbu, a Jonin-level powerhouse. Even without Orochimaru's modifications or the enhancement of White Zetsu cells, Tobirama couldn't unleash his full strength from his prime, but he was still at the Kage-level threshold. Dealing with these Kirigakure ninja wouldn't be a problem.
With such a powerhouse joining the battle, the tide of the war instantly shifted.
As Hiruzen breathed a sigh of relief, he finally had the time to ponder why Kirigakure's forces had attacked Konoha.
If they didn't have precise intelligence and didn't know that Konoha couldn't use the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki as a strategic weapon, then this attack would be nothing more than a suicide mission.
So the question was:
Within Konoha, only a few high-ranking officials knew about Naruto Uzumaki's identity. Naturally, this didn't include the Uchiha clan, who had always been under suspicion.
Hiruzen had suspected that this might be the work of Night Star, but Orochimaru also didn't know about Naruto. Night Star had no way of obtaining this information.
That left only a few suspects.
Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado.
The village's military advisors, the backbone of the Ino-Shika-Chō trio, Shikaku Nara.
And the former elder, the leader of the Root organization, Danzō Shimura.
"Could it be..."
Koharu and Homura had no motive.
Similarly, Shikaku Nara was a smart man. He knew that while the Ino-Shika-Chō trio held high status, their clans didn't have a prodigy like Minato Namikaze.
After all, the Hokage was the leader of the village, and strength was paramount.
In such a situation, even if Shikaku had ambitions to become Hokage, he wouldn't do something so foolish that would only benefit others.
That left only Danzō Shimura.
Could it be that Danzō wanted to ally with Kirigakure, have Konoha lose the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, and pin the blame on him, the Hokage, forcing him to step down as he did at the end of the Third Great Ninja War?
At that point, Danzō could step forward and compete for the position of Fifth Hokage?
Hiruzen couldn't think of any other possibility.
His aged face showed a hint of coldness.
Perhaps over the years.
He had indeed been too lenient with Danzō.
The Root, hidden in the shadows, had already been reduced to ashes.
Perhaps it was time for Danzō to disappear as well.
By the time dawn approached.
The chaos in Konoha gradually subsided.
Mei Terumi looked at the rising sun on the horizon, her beautiful eyes filled with complex emotions, and murmured.
"The plan was a success. It seems it's time for me to return to Kirigakure."
The troops Yagura had sent this time were Kirigakure's most elite ninja.
At the same time, they were the staunchest supporters of the Blood Mist faction.
With this batch of ninja eliminated, Mei's path to becoming Mizukage would face far fewer obstacles.
"Yes, it's about time for you to leave."
Hearing Night Star is words, Mei turned around and did something that shocked both Pakura and Rin Nohara.
She suddenly wrapped her arms around Night Star is neck, leaned in, and gave him a deep kiss.
"Huh!?"
Pakura was stunned for a moment, then erupted in anger.
"Hey, what are you doing? Harassment!"
Mei separated from Night Star, licking her lips as if savoring the kiss, and raised her chin slightly at Pakura with a hint of provocative.
"What, are you jealous?"
Pakura's face turned red, and she spat lightly.
"Disgusting."
Mei looked at Night Star, meeting his gaze directly, and extended her fair right hand, saying softly.
"Come back to Kirigakure with me. With your help, I can definitely become Mizukage. With your strength, why stay in Konoha and endure the High level's targeting?"
Night Star didn't answer her question directly but instead asked in return.
"Then why don't you join the Uchiha like Pakura? With your talent and abilities, why stay in Kirigakure and endure their hatred for kekkei genkai users?"
Mei seemed to have anticipated Night Star is response. Her eyes showed a hint of disappointment, but she forced a smile and said.
"Indeed, you and I are the same kind of people. We won't let ourselves be held back by so-called emotions before achieving our goals."
Then, Mei waved her hand, her expression turning serious.
"I promise you, once I become Mizukage, Kirigakure will be the eternal ally of the Uchiha clan."
Mei's choice of words was precise.
Not an ally of Konoha, but an ally of the Uchiha clan.
She had already foreseen that one day, the Uchiha would come into conflict with Konoha.
"Good, I'll remember that."
After receiving Night Star is response, Mei's body was enveloped in a mist. When the mist dissipated, she was gone.
[Ding! Mission triggered.]
[Objective: Record this event in full in the diary.]
[Reward: Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan Pupil Power,No damage.]
Night Star thought to himself that this reward was exactly what he needed.
After awakening the Mangekyou, he had already learned what the abilities of his left and right eyes were.
The ability of his left eye was called Ame no Uzume.
Any Mangekyou ability he had witnessed with his own eyes could be perfectly replicated through Ame no Uzume.
In other words, the ability of his left eye could be Obito's Kamui, Kakashi's Kamui, Itachi's Tsukuyomi, or Sasuke's Kagutsuchi. As long as he had copied it once, he could use it freely.
The ability of his right eye, however, was more unique.
It wasn't a ninjutsu-type ability like Amaterasu, nor a genjutsu-type like Tsukuyomi, nor a space-time ability like Kamui. Instead, it was an ability never before seen in the history of the Uchiha clan.
Ame no Iwayato.
It could absorb the Pupil Power of any Mangekyou Sharingan, regardless of blood relation, to strengthen the Pupil Power of his own eyes.
This meant.
Any pair of Mangekyou would become the nourishment Night Star needed to strengthen his own Pupil Power.
