Chapter 248: Choices and Considerations

The form of the Abyssal Demon Elder finally faded away, and the immense pressure of demonic energy he left behind gradually dispersed. Lin Langtian gazed respectfully at the spot where the elder had vanished, bowing three times to express his gratitude. Despite his limited interactions with the elder over the past two months while forming the Demonic Seed, he held deep respect for this ancient and formidable figure.

"A remarkable mind," commented Spirit Aunt, her voice echoing in Lin Langtian's thoughts. "This Demonic Seed may appear simple, but it is infused with profound truths."

Lin Langtian nodded, acknowledging the talent of the Abyssal Demon Elder. It was nothing short of genius to control Abyssal energy by creating a Demonic Seed, turning the dark power to his own ends. Lin Langtian speculated that the Abyssal Demons who later infiltrated Yuan Gate might have drawn inspiration from the elder's method, using seeds to control the upper ranks and core disciples.

He recalled the elder's warning to be cautious of Abyssal Demons still hiding on the continent, a reminder that made Lin Langtian uneasy. The ancient catastrophe had been long past, yet the Abyssal Demons seemed to be regathering strength. If any of them detected the Abyssal power within him, it would surely bring trouble. He resolved not to activate the Demonic Seed recklessly and to keep it as a last resort.

With that decision, Lin Langtian withdrew from his Demonic Seed state, allowing the sinister aura that had changed his appearance to dissipate, revealing his original calm and handsome face once more.

"The Demonic Seed may affect my appearance and aura," he noted to himself, "but it doesn't seem to alter my mind." Lin Langtian felt some relief, knowing that while those who had been "seeded" by the Abyssal Demons, or even the elder himself, could fall under its influence, his own Black-Gold Demonic Seed—with its blend of the Golden Spirit Wheel Mirror's power—kept the Abyssal influence minimal.

"It's time to go," Lin Langtian said with a satisfied nod. He pushed aside his recent thoughts and refocused. He'd spent a considerable amount of time here, and by now, the ancient battlefield would be a flurry of activity as the Hundred Empires War reached its climax. After nearly a year of cultivation and growth, it was time for the true warriors to make their mark, revealing their strengths for all to see. Lin Langtian had confidence that he would be among them.

He was also increasingly certain about which major sect he would join. Although there were eight great sects in the Eastern Profound Region, only two truly caught his attention: Dao Sect, where Lin Dong had joined in the original timeline, and Yuan Gate, the region's top sect.

While Dao Sect was known for its unity and strength and had been instrumental in Lin Dong's rise, Lin Langtian found himself more drawn to Yuan Gate's ruthless, competitive environment. He knew it would be a place where only the strongest survived, a challenge he welcomed. His reasons for choosing Yuan Gate weren't merely philosophical, however; he also knew he needed a place to hide his Abyssal powers, and Yuan Gate's association with the Abyssal Demons made it an ideal cover.

If Yuan Gate decided to "reward" him by planting their own Abyssal Seed in him, he could use his Black-Gold Demonic Seed as a decoy, allowing him to use his powers freely while keeping his secrets safe.

As Lin Langtian pondered this decision, the surrounding hall space began to distort. Suddenly, an unstoppable force enveloped him, pulling him away.

"Oh, it's sending me out," he remarked, feeling the powerful suction but making no attempt to resist. Before departing, he turned to the hall's center and bowed deeply. "Rest in peace, elder. This world will never fall to the Abyssal Demons."

As his words faded, the space around him fractured. In a flash, Lin Langtian vanished.

Moments later, Lin Langtian opened his eyes to a bright burst of sunlight. Blinking against the light, he took in his surroundings: a dense forest with towering trees and rich greenery.

"So, it sent me straight out of the Abyssal Rift…" he muttered. After two months in that dark, suffocating place, the fresh air and warm sunlight felt revitalizing.

"Let's go find Jinwu," he said, stretching. With a confident smile, Lin Langtian summoned his blazing wings of flame and shot forward, his fiery presence leaving waves of ripples in the forest canopy below.

His speed was almost instantaneous, disappearing from view as he swept across the forest landscape. Soon, he sensed a familiar aura emanating from a nearby mountain range, one that could only belong to Jinwu.
