Yu-Gi-Oh: Fusion Is the Noblest Summoning Method!

Chapter 388: 388

Jaden wasn't particularly interested in learning about the Supreme King.

That was only natural.

In his mind, he was himself and had nothing to do with any so-called past life. No matter what the Supreme King was, who he was now was who he was.

To have him understand the inner thoughts of some past ruler and conqueror, to "empathize" with such a person, that was something he could never accept.

"It's not about empathy." Hikaru Amaki shook his head. "Understanding and awareness are about exploring what that existence is.

I know you don't want to be evil, but understanding the Supreme King doesn't mean imitating him.

For example,I know the Fusion Army inside and out, but I don't imitate them or act like they do. I use my knowledge of the Fusion Army to sabotage their bases and dimensions.

Only by knowing enough about them can you figure out how to deal with them. You get that, right?"

With that, the knot in Jaden's heart began to loosen.

"Makes sense. Like with your Fusion, you need to understand not just yourself, however, your opponent's monsters too, and fuse with them." Jaden thought for a moment, then nodded.

"So what's the second suggestion?"

"Learn to use the Supreme King's power."

Understanding first, then application?

A logical sequence.

However, this point met even greater resistance from Jaden.

When he was young, for some strange reason, the children around him would often get hurt for no apparent cause. Some were even bedridden from serious injuries. From early on, he had rejected this kind of "personal power."

Now, he had chalked those childhood incidents up to the Supreme King.

"Power itself isn't wrong. It's how it's used that matters most," Hikaru continued. "Whether it's a force for justice or for evil, it all depends on the one wielding it.

It's like the Fusion Army and our Fusion Club. Simple enough, right?"

Again, he used himself as the example.

Jaden's expression softened slightly.

"Even in the Lightsworn, there are spirits so extreme in their justice they've gone mad. And even among the Dark World demons, there are guardians of justice. The power isn't wrong, what's wrong is the person using it, and the way it's used."

This had been made clear in recent encounters with the Light Force.

The Light Monarch gained power and slaughtered spirits to strengthen himself; Jain, under the Light Force's influence, became even more extreme and irritable; Sartorius was driven into a split personality; while Aster Phoenix, though influenced, didn't really change, just grew apathetic and complacent.

Listening to Hikaru, Jaden thought it over and found it made sense.

If...

If he could master the Supreme King's power, maybe he could protect more people.

And in that instant, he recalled the "him" he'd seen during a duel.

He had said,

Victory is justice.

Justice was a fact, but to achieve justice, you needed power!

Without enough power to win, you could only watch helplessly as your friends suffered.

If... if back then he had awakened the Supreme King's power sooner, before dueling the Dragon Overlord, he could have protected all the students and kept them from being attacked by demons.

Many thoughts flashed through Jaden's mind, yet he said nothing, his expression unchanged.

Hikaru couldn't guess what he was thinking.

In truth, neither suggestion was especially difficult or particularly wise.

They were just ordinary discussion points.

The real decisions were always Jaden's to make.

Honestly, ever since encountering the Dark World demons, Hikaru had been wondering how to handle Jaden's future.

Although most of this world's "plot" differed from what Hikaru remembered, some characters' basic logic remained unchanged.

Jaden was the reincarnation of the Supreme King, that much was certain.

Thus, Jaden's attitude toward himself, toward the Supreme King, toward Yubel, and toward everyone else was what truly needed to change and be tested.

Regardless, those were things Hikaru couldn't change and had no right to interfere in.

First, he had no right to meddle in someone else's personal matters. Second, even if he helped once, how many times could he do it?

He could step in when Jaden was on the verge of collapse, but after that?

Hikaru had his own matters to handle, and Jaden had his own life and adventures.

So, after thinking it over, the only help Hikaru could offer was to give him ideas and provide physical and dueling support.

Otherwise, if Yubel stayed hidden until Hikaru left, or waited until he went to the S-Dimension before making a move, there'd be nothing Hikaru could do.

He still wanted to gather Fusion, to trouble the Egghead, to find proof of the Three Sages, to visit the Realm of the Spellcasters.

If Jaden could handle everything on his own, understand it all by himself, then even if Yubel appeared, even strengthened by the Light Force,so what?

He admitted, in the original, Yubel was arguably GX's strongest spirit. Even in spirit form, they could transport an entire island of humans to another dimension, control others, create illusions, virtually omnipotent.

Albeit in the end, what Yubel wanted to use was still the Supreme King's power, and most of all, Super Polymerization.

Jaden folded his arms.

He recalled everything he'd seen today, the duel with the Dragon Overlord, the words from the Lightsworn...

"If that's how it is, then it's fine." Jaden was convinced.

"But how do I do it?" Jaden looked at Hikaru. "I've never heard anything about the Supreme King."

"Yeah..." Jim Crocodile Cook nodded. "Even if Jaden wanted to know, there's no way to learn about the Supreme King, right?"

Books?

Obviously, spirits didn't keep any records of the Supreme King.

Ask the Dark World demons? They'd definitely be biased toward the Supreme King, never fully honest or objective.

And as for the power itself, that was even more of a mystery.

Even if he wanted to gain the Supreme King's power, how would he do it?

Right now, Jaden had only awakened part of it and didn't even know how to control it deeply.

"Heh." Seeing Jaden's curiosity, Hikaru finally took out something he'd been working on through his studies and research lately.

A mirror.

"Looking in a mirror won't help, right?" Hassleberry scratched the back of his head, puzzled.

"No, this isn't just a mirror,it's something I made with alchemy."

What?

Alchemy?

Jim looked blankly at Axel Brodie, who was equally confused.

Lately, Hikaru had been studying and experimenting, trying to extract the "Dark Hex-Sealed Fusion" from Armityle the Chaos Phantasm.

Although he hadn't achieved that goal yet, he had produced plenty of byproducts in the process.

With this mirror, you could converse with your inner self!

In other words… an alchemical creation that could "extract and manifest the other consciousness within one's heart!"
