Chapter 102: Fight Golden Lion Bos
Ivy hugged his waist tightly, clearly enjoying being on the back seat of the motorcycle.
Oliver even noticed that she was wearing her sunglasses, which added to her stylish aura.
On the road, he saw too many jealous gazes directed at him—something he never experienced just by riding the motorcycle alone.
"Darling, what level are you now?" Oliver couldn't help but ask Ivy, since he could sense the growing pressure of her strength.
Even though he hadn't accompanied her while leveling, she practically did it nonstop. Like today—she had just finished leveling about two hours ago before choosing to relax at the university.
"I'm already at Level 20. It wasn't too hard for me to reach this point, but reaching Level 21 is a bit tougher since the monsters are much stronger," Ivy answered calmly.
Although her level was still below his, Oliver couldn't help but admire her progress.
Ivy's advancement was incredibly fast. If he hadn't been so lucky to encounter the Sky Eagle Clan, he would have already been left behind by her.
Awakeners really did progress this quickly, especially those with high combat strength. Their growth only slowed when their combat ability failed to keep up with the monsters at their level.
At that point, Cultivators could start catching up—because many Awakeners stopped leveling for years, which often led them into complacency.
"What about you? I find it hard to sense you now. Have you reached a higher level?" Ivy asked curiously.
Oliver only gave a faint smile.
"Yeah, higher than you can imagine. By the way, is there a monster you want to kill? If so, I can help you now—even a Boss Monster wouldn't be a problem," Oliver said.
"Are you serious?" Ivy looked a little surprised when he casually spoke of Boss Monsters.
"Trust me," Oliver replied.
"There is one Boss Monster I want to kill, Level 23. This Boss has harassed me several times," Ivy admitted.
"What kind of monster is it?" Oliver asked.
Hearing that it was only Level 23, he felt even more confident. After all, he was confident in taking down Boss Monsters of his own level—let alone weaker ones.
"A Golden Lion," Ivy replied.
"Ohhh…" Oliver was a bit surprised at that, wondering if it was the same lion that had once sent out its manifestation to assist the Sunflowers.
The area where Ivy roamed was essentially the same region where he had encountered the Golden Lion's manifestation. Naturally, it wasn't strange if Ivy ran into it as well.
"Do you know where its lair is?" Oliver asked.
"Yes, I'm not far from it," Ivy answered.
"Alright then…"
Oliver began thinking about where to stop before heading into the Chaotic World.
In the end, he pulled into a narrow, dark alley.
"Right now?" Ivy asked in surprise.
"Yes. You don't need to call your people. I'll fight that lion until it's weakened enough for you to finish it off," Oliver said.
Hearing that, Ivy nodded.
After that, both of them entered the Chaotic World.
Oliver appeared at the same location where he had last helped Ivy, since this was his first time entering the Chaotic World again with his real body.
Of course, he could immediately sense Ivy's presence.
He quickly headed toward her, using Void Step so that each stride covered more than a kilometer.
With his current Realm, even long distances felt close. His Void Step had become more like teleportation as his mastery of the technique deepened.
Even hills posed no obstacle to him—he could simply bypass them. When crossing rivers, he instantly reappeared far across the other side.
Only now did he realize just how strong he had become.
It took him only about ten minutes to reach Ivy's location.
Standing beside a large tree, Ivy was shocked when she saw him already there, since she knew how far apart they had been. She had thought she'd have to wait at least an hour.
"Where's the lion's lair?" Oliver asked.
"In a massive cave about three kilometers ahead," Ivy answered, pointing in a certain direction.
"I see. Let's go," Oliver said.
He grabbed Ivy's hand and stepped forward with Void Step, bringing her along toward the direction she pointed.
When carrying someone else, Oliver couldn't use Void Step at its full potential—it required deeper mastery. Still, he could leap more than 500 meters with each step.
Ahead, there weren't many trees—just tall grass everywhere.
After a few steps, Oliver finally spotted a huge cave, nearly thirty meters tall.
By coincidence, a massive golden lion, over thirteen meters in height, had just returned and was about to enter the cave.
However, it immediately turned its head, sensing intruders.
Its face was fierce, its mane thick.
Oliver didn't need to look further.
The aura of this lion was exactly the same as the manifestation that had once chased him.
"Little girl, you again…" The lion turned, furious upon seeing Ivy.
Its gaze then shifted to Oliver.
For a moment, its eyes narrowed as if trying to recall something familiar.
In an instant, they sharpened dangerously.
"Boy, it's you…"
When it finally remembered Oliver, the lion roared.
"I never thought you'd be bold enough to come here," it said coldly, opening its mouth.
In front of its jaws, a massive sun suddenly appeared, radiating extreme heat, ready to explode—enough to make Ivy's face pale.
She clearly felt the threat of death.
At Level 23, both Awakeners and monsters became far stronger, since a certain evolution occurred once they passed Level 21.
They were basically equivalent to Cultivators at the Earth Master Realm. But since Cultivators grew much stronger with each breakthrough, once they reached Earth Master, they were roughly equal to a Level 25 Awakener or Monster right away—without needing those incremental five-level refinements.
Because this Golden Lion was a Boss Monster, it was stronger than most Level 25 Awakeners or Monsters, including many newly advanced Earth Masters.
Whoosh!
The blazing sun shot toward Oliver and Ivy, boiling with energy that could explode at any moment.
If it detonated, no one could guess how far the devastation would spread.
But Oliver didn't feel too threatened.
"Absorb!"
Oliver unleashed his Black Hole, which spun rapidly, pulling the sun into it.
Even though the sun was massive, the devouring force of his Black Hole easily tore it apart.
The explosion was nullified.
Of course, Oliver had to erase every attack that came, since it could endanger Ivy.
Seeing his attack vanish, the lion was visibly shocked.
"You are no match for me. You're the one who will die…" Oliver shouted as his golden spear appeared in his hand.
He leapt forward, coating the weapon with an enormous number of void particles before hurling it at the lion.
"What?" The lion felt a tremendous threat from the spear.
Its eyes narrowed sharply before it released a thunderous roar.
ROAR!
The roar shook the air, but it wasn't just sound.
The lion's roar carried wave after wave of compressed air.
The spear struck against those waves, but despite its speed, it was pushed back.
'So this is how it defends,' Oliver thought.
In the end, his spear returned to his hand, forced back by the waves. Even he himself was pushed backward.
"Hmph!" Oliver snorted coldly, then threw the spear again—this time differently.
Whoosh!
The spear shot forward, piercing through space itself, slipping past the waves directly. Its movement resembled Void Step—because in fact, that was exactly what he had relied on.
Ever since his mastery of Void Step reached 13%, combined with his stronger Void Sense, he could now make objects he threw move like Void Step.
The lion was utterly shocked.
Its head jerked aside to avoid the strike, but the spear still pierced into its massive body.
Buzz!
The void particles carried by the spear erupted, amplifying the damage as it tore into the lion's flesh.
"Damn you, brat!"
The lion roared in fury.
It lashed out with its claws.
Each claw radiated searing golden light—enough to melt and tear apart steel walls with ease.
"You dare?" Oliver responded by sending out massive waves of void particles.
Yet the lion didn't hesitate and still swung its claws.
The moment its paw sank into the void waves, the particles rapidly shredded it.
The lion's eyes widened in shock.
It pulled back instantly—but its paw was ruined, leaving only bones connected to its claws.
"Let's see now!"
Oliver activated the ability he had gained from fusing with the Skeleton of Life—body enlargement.
This was the skeleton's natural ability, powered by its immense life force.
In an instant, his body grew to a towering ten meters, green lines glowing across his skin.
"What?" The lion was visibly stunned.
To fight a giant by becoming a giant—Oliver thought this would make things easier.
Of course, his spear also grew in size when it appeared in his hand.
Any object he carried would enlarge together with him.
"Die…"
Oliver thrust his spear at the lion's back—but the beast leapt away swiftly.
In one bound, the lion soared nearly fifty meters into the air.
"Boy, I never thought you'd grow this strong in just a few days," it said coldly.
