Chapter 101: Meet Ivy Again
Oliver left Evylin's house after fusing with the Life Skeleton.
He couldn't stay there any longer since Evylin also had her own matters to attend to.
It was still daytime, not even afternoon yet.
He was too lazy to cultivate now and just wanted to relax, so he contacted Ivy, asking where she was so he could pick her up.
Ivy told him that she had just arrived at the University after spending time leveling up in the Chaotic World.
She went to the University to interact with the female Awakeners there, who were quite numerous, sharing information about their experiences.
Since she was at the University, Oliver headed straight there.
However, on the way, he suddenly felt he was being followed by a sedan with very dark-tinted windows.
The sedan kept a fair distance from him, but his observational ability was extremely sharp. He realized the car slowed whenever he slowed and sped up whenever he sped up.
Of course, Oliver only needed to spread his Void Sense to check inside the vehicle, and what he discovered left him surprised.
He saw two men in black suits with cold expressions and dark eyes.
They were the same men who had guarded Fire Ghost's room at the restaurant where he had met Murphy Jackson.
Now that he knew Fire Ghost was the Prime Minister, it was clear they were his subordinates.
'Why are they following me?' Oliver wondered.
'Unless the Prime Minister or Fire Ghost still wants to kill me? No, I don't think so. Murphy is already dead—without his reward, how could Fire Ghost make a move…'
Oliver was quite certain this wasn't about that.
'Could it be?'
His eyes turned sharp as he thought that the Prime Minister might have traced him and grown suspicious.
Of course, this made him uneasy. It wasn't that he feared being enemies with the Prime Minister.
After all, who was he? His master was a princess of this country and also one of the Chairpersons of the Cultivator Association.
Because of the government system, the Prime Minister could govern the country, but many high officials—especially in the military and police—were very loyal to the Royal Family.
If the Prime Minister were to clash with Evylin, most officials would surely side with her.
The Prime Minister himself wasn't really the problem. The real issue would arise if he revealed to the world that Oliver possessed an extraordinary artifact.
If that happened, Oliver was certain countless forces would come to rob him.
'Better to pretend I haven't noticed,' he thought.
Until things became clear, he didn't dare make any reckless moves.
In his estimation, those two men might just be investigating his strength.
Since the ones following him were only at the Fifth Stage, he didn't feel overly troubled.
If the opportunity presented itself, he might get rid of them—but he had to make sure it left no trace.
Soon he arrived at the University, bustling as usual.
"Oliver, where have you been? Why weren't you here yesterday?" Alex happened to be in the parking lot and came up to him.
Of course, Alex was still only at the First Stage of the Spiritual Master Realm.
Even with talent, progressing from the first stage to the second was still far too difficult for him.
"I had something to take care of," Oliver replied casually.
Since he asked, Alex's eyes naturally shifted to his motorcycle.
"Oliver, how much did this cost you? Can I borrow it?" he asked.
"No, you can't," Oliver answered directly without hesitation.
It was a gift bought for him by a woman, so of course he couldn't lend it to another man. It would be different if he had bought it himself.
Alex's chubby face twitched at the blunt refusal.
He looked like he had no words to say.
"By the way, have you seen Ivy?" Oliver asked.
"I saw her earlier, but I don't know where she is now. By the way, Oliver, you'd better keep a close eye on your girlfriend. I saw some guys trying to approach her. If you don't watch out, she might end up interested in someone else. A lot of them are no less handsome than you," Alex said with a chuckle.
Oliver frowned at that, but then smiled wryly.
"That's not something I need to worry about. I've never lost to any man when it comes to women," he said.
Alex had clearly tried to provoke him, but unfortunately, Oliver was far too confident in himself.
Now Alex could only scratch his head helplessly.
Before Alex could say anything else, Oliver spotted Ivy coming out of one of the buildings with a group of women.
She wore a short skirt and a blouse under a long coat, her hair styled in Dutch twin braids.
Her appearance had only grown more fashionable. Oliver even noticed she was wearing high heels, which made her look taller.
Oliver didn't need to go to her—she saw him from afar and immediately walked toward him.
From the looks of it, on her second day at the university while he'd been absent, she had already gained popularity. Many students tried to greet her.
But she seemed far too indifferent, ignoring nearly all of them.
When Ivy reached Oliver, Alex instinctively stepped back, fully aware that their relationship was more than just dating now since they had already slept together.
"Darling, you finally showed up again…" Ivy was the first to speak.
She seemed curious where he had been since it was almost like he had disappeared for a day.
Last night, they were supposed to spend the night together, but he had suddenly been busy.
"Personal matters," Oliver replied with a faint smile.
They were personal matters, so he didn't feel awkward saying it.
The truth—that he had spent the last two nights with Rebecca—was not something he could tell his girlfriend.
Ivy seemed to believe his words immediately. After all, it wasn't unusual. Each of them practically had their own affairs, so it was normal if they didn't meet for two or three days.
"By the way, how about we take a ride?" Oliver said, patting the back seat of his motorcycle.
He wouldn't lend his motorcycle to another man, but for his woman, that was no problem.
Even Rebecca couldn't be angry about this, since she knew he had a girlfriend.
"Sure…" Ivy didn't refuse, clearly interested in the motorcycle.
Compared to a car, they could have closer physical contact while on a bike.
Oliver immediately mounted the motorcycle and started the engine, waiting for Ivy to climb on.
The back seat was quite high, but still easy enough for Ivy to mount.
Naturally, her body leaned forward at once.
Despite the stares around them, Ivy didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around his waist.
Oliver gave Alex a wink and a smile before speeding away.
Alex could only watch with envy, as if wondering when he would ever have such sweet fortune with a beautiful woman.
