Chapter 63: True Form
"Uhm..." Oliver cleared his throat.
"Mom, what's going on?" he asked.
He hadn't expected that this famous singer had seen him before. That could only mean she really was an old friend of his mother's.
"Sit down first—Miya needs your help," Sofia replied.
Oliver was even more surprised upon hearing that.
This woman needed his help? What could he possibly help her with—unless she knew about his powers?
"Miya is a close friend of mine. Even though we haven't met in a long time, she's often helped us," Sofia added.
"Sofia, that's really not worth mentioning," Miya said with a modest smile.
"Oliver, I know about your powers from your mother," she continued, her eyes turning toward him.
Oliver didn't feel angry that his mother had revealed his abilities to her friend. After all, it wasn't something he was actively trying to hide.
As a mother, it was only natural for Sofia to be proud of a son who had become a Cultivator.
"Does Mrs. Everly need help from my powers?" Oliver asked.
"Not your powers exactly—I'd like your help cultivating using one of your Tier 1 Spiritual Pills. Of course, I won't pay you with money but with an artifact I own—a legacy from my father. I've always wanted to cultivate, though unfortunately I wasn't born with any talent for it. Still, I want to try. Rather than keeping an artifact that's completely useless to me, I'd rather give it to someone with real potential like you. Even if my cultivation turns out to be the most basic level, at the very least I'll be stronger than the average person—immune to common illnesses and blessed with a longer life," Miya explained.
Oliver furrowed his brows upon hearing she knew about his Spiritual Pills—something that was supposed to be a secret.
Before he could look at his mother in protest, Miya added, "Your mother knows about the artifact. She's seen it before, because she was also close to my father. She knows how extraordinary it is, which is why she suggested the trade. She only wanted to help you get the artifact. You might be wondering why I don't just trade with another Cultivator—but that would be too risky. I could get tricked, killed, and the artifact stolen. You're the son of my close friend, so I trust you. I know you wouldn't disappoint your mother."
"Oliver, you probably don't know—Miya's father wasn't just an ordinary man. Even though he wasn't a Cultivator himself, he played a role in the founding of the Cultivator Association, because he was close friends with the founder. Before that founder went off on a long journey into the Chaotic World and never returned, he entrusted the artifact to Miya's father for safekeeping, since he wasn't sure he'd make it back alive," Sofia added.
"What kind of artifact is it?" Oliver couldn't help asking after hearing all that.
Naturally, if it was something truly extraordinary, he'd be very interested in obtaining it.
For a Cultivator, an artifact could be more valuable than a weapon—if its abilities were powerful enough.
If Miya had simply claimed to own some mysterious artifact, he might have doubted her. But given her unique background—not from a Cultivator family, yet with a father who had inherited an artifact from the founder of the Association—he couldn't take it lightly.
How could Oliver not know about the founder of the Cultivator Association? A legendary figure, one of Earth's first Cultivators, known for his strength and kindness, often helping the oppressed and standing against the powerful.
"You might not believe it when you hear it," Miya replied.
"Mrs. Everly, with that much confidence—how could I not believe you?" Oliver said with a faint, curious smile.
Was the artifact really that unbelievable?
"Miya, just tell him. He'll believe you—I'm vouching for it," Sofia said.
"Alright, alright..." Miya chuckled.
"Oliver, the artifact is called True Form. When you use it, it transforms you into your true form," she said.
"My true form?" Oliver was immediately confused by her words.
He had no idea what she meant by that.
True form? Wasn't he already in his true form?
"I'll explain it slowly. You see, this artifact can even be used by ordinary people like us. When your mother used it, she transformed into a small white rabbit—adorable, but weak. I, on the other hand, became a beautiful red fox. Hahaha..." Miya laughed.
Oliver: "..."
"You must be starting to get the idea. It sounds strange, but it's very real. The artifact transforms us into something that matches our personality, nature, and power. It doesn't have to be an animal—it could be a monster or a giant creature. We didn't have any power, so we became animals. But the founder of the Cultivator Association, who had Light-based powers and a gentle, kind personality, transformed into an angelic being—huge, with wings. In that form, he could use his powers to the fullest, as if they had been boosted by an entire level. He even said that cultivating in that form was far easier. Unfortunately, he chose not to bring the artifact with him when he ventured into the most dangerous parts of the Chaotic World. Maybe even then, he wasn't fully confident it would save him."
"Seriously?" Oliver looked skeptical—he had never heard of anything like this, not even in fantasy tales.
But now he understood how the artifact worked. And without realizing it, he began to wonder what he would transform into.
He had Void energy, Life energy, and a physical body that had evolved to weigh over 3,000 kg. Combined with his personality and traits, becoming an angel seemed unlikely—but he would no doubt turn into a mighty creature.
Still, he remained doubtful.
He couldn't even hide the uncertainty on his face.
"Looks like you won't believe it until you see and try it yourself," Miya said, noticing his expression.
"Oliver, it's real. I've used it myself," Sofia added.
With his mother continuing to vouch for it, Oliver began to believe. After all, his mother wasn't the type to lie easily.
"Mrs. Everly, may I see the artifact—and try it out?" Oliver asked.
Of course, he wasn't sure if she'd brought it with her.
But wherever she had left it, he was ready to go there right now.
"I usually keep it hidden in a very secure location—but this time, I brought it with me," Miya replied, then reached for the bag she had placed on the floor at her feet.
She opened the bag and reached inside, pulling something from within.
Oliver's eyes barely blinked as he watched her movements. Then, he saw it—a jade bracelet, softly glowing, its color shifting constantly.
Most striking of all, Oliver noticed illusions of various creatures shimmering across the surface of the jade, changing every second. He even saw dragons and phoenixes in a range of vivid colors.
