Chapter 98: Cooperate
The evolution process seemed to come to an end. The radiance entered the Eagle King's body, which still lacked real flesh, only faint, incomplete flesh.
When his figure appeared, Oliver could feel the excitement of all the eagles.
"Congratulations to the King for becoming a True Monster. Our Sky Eagle Clan is destined to prosper for thousands of years," they all said in unison, including the Eagle General.
The Eagle King's expression looked as if it could not be more satisfied. He looked over his troops and nodded lightly.
At this moment, a crown appeared in his hand, the same crown he usually wore in his eagle form, but now it had become smaller.
He seemed in no hurry to put it on.
His eyes fell on Oliver.
"There is still one last thing I must do. Heaven truly favors me, for a human appeared during my evolution. Otherwise, I would have been forced to endure this translucent body for a while," he said.
As he spoke, the Eagle General descended and landed before him, lowering his head until it nearly touched the ground and placing Oliver in front of the Eagle King.
The chains that bound his body were released, but Oliver still struggled to move. He could instead feel the crushing pressure of the Eagle King. It was so heavy that even breathing became difficult.
"My King, please kill this human," said the Eagle General.
"Mhm, it is indeed time for him to die—and I shall use his appearance," said the Eagle King.
His original form was bald. Clearly, he was not satisfied with it and intended to take Oliver's appearance instead.
"You won't be able to kill me," Oliver said.
"Human, how dare you still speak…" The Eagle General was so enraged by his voice that he struck Oliver on the head.
On the other side, the Eagle King looked calmer, giving him a curious stare.
"To me, you are still just an ant, even if your cultivation has improved. Why do you think I cannot kill you?" he asked.
"Because I am only a manifestation," Oliver answered casually, before revealing his true form—transparent energy forming his body.
This was supposed to be the true form of every manifestation, but because his was forged with energy from the World of Shadows, it could take on flesh and wield the exact same power as his real body.
Yet, despite its similarity to his original body—even to the point he could use it for intimacy—it was still an imitation, not a real human. It lacked what the Monster Kings needed to forge their human bodies.
Oliver deliberately told him now, just to watch his surprise.
And indeed, the Eagle King was utterly shocked. His mouth opened wide.
He instantly realized that Oliver was only a manifestation. Even the Eagle General and the other eagles noticed, staring at him wide-eyed, beaks agape, frozen as if even their eyes refused to blink.
"How did you do this? Did you escape after advancing to the Earth Master Realm and leave your manifestation behind?" the Eagle King asked, making the Eagle General tremble, for he was the one in charge of watching over him.
He too began to suspect the same. This human might have escaped using some unknown trick that even allowed him to leave behind his manifestation.
That would mean responsibility fell on him, which explained his trembling.
At this moment, the Eagle King cast a cold look at the Eagle General, making him even more terrified.
"No, I have been a manifestation from the very beginning. I have something that allows me to create a manifestation even before reaching the Earth Master Realm—and it has the exact same power as my true body. I never escaped, and I never needed to…" Oliver replied, feeling no need to hide this fact.
The Eagle King's breathing grew heavy, glaring at Oliver with extreme killing intent.
He was still a predator, and that fact had not changed simply because he could take human form.
The more he thought about it, the more he realized just how badly he had been fooled.
"You dare this much…" he said in a trembling voice, pointing at Oliver, his hand shaking.
Oliver shrugged, feigning confusion.
"Why should I be afraid? You can't kill me," he said calmly.
The other eagles, including the Eagle General, remained silent, not daring to speak. They knew their King was furious.
And the worst part was that their King might take out his rage on them.
Considering the power he had just gained through evolution, even the Eagle General would die if attacked.
"Hmm… King, what if we cooperate? I can give you what you want, like helping you obtain a Cultivator in the Earth Master Realm—or an Awakener of Level 25, which should be the same," Oliver said, before the Eagle King could destroy his manifestation.
If they had nothing to offer, Oliver would not have said this. But they had countless cultivation resources.
They even had many eggs containing Special Protein. Oliver wouldn't mind doing anything the Eagle King asked, as long as he could obtain them.
He needed more than just cultivation advancement—he wanted to forge an exceptionally strong physique.
Though he had only just reached the Earth Master Realm, he believed he had a chance to capture an Earth Master Cultivator or a Level 25 Awakener to hand over to the Eagle King.
Of course, the target had to be someone guilty of serious crimes whom the government had yet to apprehend.
"And what do you want in return? Human, do not think you can trick me again," replied the Eagle King.
Out of necessity, he seemed able to suppress his anger, but clearly, he would not allow himself to be exploited.
"Don't worry, I won't trick you. I guarantee I'll find another human as my replacement. All I ask is that you give me the eggs I saw among your cultivation resources," Oliver said.
He stared at the Eagle King, waiting for his response.
The other eagles also seemed curious about the decision.
They were intelligent enough to realize that attacking Oliver now meant nothing.
"I'll give you one day. If you bring me another human, I'll give you the eggs," the Eagle King finally said after some thought.
"That's too short," Oliver replied. "Three days—I need three days. One day isn't enough. Unless you don't want this cooperation."
Oliver did not try to sound weak before the Eagle King.
He spoke with a firm tone when asking for three days.
The Eagle King's face twitched, but he still tried to restrain his fury.
"Fine, three days. You must return in three days," he said.
"Hehehe, don't worry…" Oliver laughed.
After that, he summoned his portal, which appeared right in front of him.
But he found it extremely difficult to move toward it.
"King, please retract your power for a moment," he said, having no choice but to ask.
"Hmph…" The Eagle King snorted coldly, withdrawing his power while saying, "You are but an ant, yet you dare to toy with me."
Oliver couldn't be bothered to respond. Once he felt able to move again, he stepped into the portal, which vanished as soon as he entered.
Naturally, the Eagle King did not dare follow him through the portal, for if he went to Earth, his power would be severely suppressed.
At most, he would only be equal to a Second Stage Earth Master Cultivator. With such strength, and in another world, he certainly dared not attempt anything reckless.
