Chapter 24: Preparing to Leave
Noah teleported back to where Rob was. The personnel stationed there were startled by his sudden appearance, but thankfully, someone recognized him as the one who had repelled the dark cultists, so no conflict occurred.
Noah saw that Rob's injuries were recovering well, but he had lost his magic for some unknown reason. A situation like this required a professional. After informing the guards, he teleported with Rob to the forest east of Magnolia and found Porlyusica.
Being woken up in the middle of the night put Porlyusica in a terrible mood. However, seeing that Rob was injured, she suppressed her anger and began to give him further treatment. Noah helped for a little while, but since he had things to do the next day, he bid her farewell. Porlyusica simply waved her hand, shooing him away.
Returning to Erza's house, Noah quickly washed up and then fell asleep in the living room.
The next day, Noah was up early. It had been five years since he arrived in this world, and every day had been fulfilling. And with magic to research, Noah felt that every day was a happy one. Thanks to his constantly strengthening physique, he woke up full of energy, even a late night having little effect on him.
After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he borrowed Erza's kitchen and the ingredients stored there, added some of his own that he carried with him, and, relying on the cooking skills he had honed over the past few years, prepared a sumptuous breakfast.
Just then, he heard footsteps. Erza came out, looking dazed and clearly sleep-deprived, likely due to the overwhelming events of the previous day. Noah walked over, led her to the kitchen, and said, "Go wash your face and brush your teeth. I'm going to get Simon and Kagura to come eat breakfast with us."
Erza mumbled an affirmation and began to mindlessly wash her face and brush her teeth. Noah left the house, closed the door, and went to knock on Simon's door. A short while later, Simon opened it, also looking like he hadn't gotten enough sleep.
"Go wake up Kagura," Noah told him. "Wash up and then come over to Erza's house. I've already made breakfast for everyone."
Simon nodded, unable to stifle a yawn, and turned back inside to wake his sister.
Noah returned to Erza's house and saw that she had finished getting ready and was now packing her personal belongings. He went over and helped her pack some necessary items, then stored them away in his magic cards. Just then, Simon and Kagura arrived. They put down what they were doing and all ate breakfast together.
After the meal, Simon and his sister went home to pack their things. Noah continued to help Erza pack her belongings and then tidied up the house so that it could be left unoccupied for a long time without any issues. Finally, he closed the door. Erza looked back at the house, reluctant to leave.
"We're only leaving for a little while," Noah told her. "If you want to come back in the future, I'll bring you. As long as I'm here, we can come back very quickly with my magic."
Hearing this, much of Erza's sadness faded. She asked, a little hesitantly, "Won't that be too much trouble for you?"
"We're all comrades, all family. I'll help you when you need it, and you can help me when I need it in the future, right?"
"Mhm! Then when you need help, I'll be there for you!"
With that assurance, Erza's mood brightened. They went over to Simon's house and saw that he and his sister had mostly finished packing. Noah helped them double-check everything, then packed all their things away with his magic cards. He then helped them tidy up their house as well. After closing the door, Simon marveled, "Magic is so amazing. All that stuff just disappeared into a single card. By the way, where will we live after we get to Fairy Tail?"
Noah checked to make sure they hadn't missed anything, then answered, "Fairy Tail has a girls' dormitory. Erza and Kagura can live there. Of course, since I'm the one who invited you to join, you can also stay at my house."
"Stay at your house? Where do you live?" Erza asked curiously.
"My house? It's in Magnolia, about a ten-minute walk from the guild. I just bought it not too long ago."
"It's in Magnolia too, so that's really close... wait, you bought your own house?" Simon seemed to realize something was off. "You're only ten years old! Where did you get so much money to buy a house?"
"There's nothing strange about it. I've been an S-Class wizard for almost two years now. S-Class missions are difficult, but the rewards are high. I don't have many other expenses, so I saved up all the money. I just recently realized I had enough to buy a house, so I did. I haven't even had the new place for two weeks."
Over the past few years, Noah had been focused on learning all kinds of magic. Improving his commonly used spells, like Thought Projection and his wide-area detection magic, was all done with Mavis's vast knowledge. As for spells like Fairy Law and Fairy Glitter, Mavis had either created or improved them herself, so further advancements came naturally. Only the improvements to the guild mark required purchasing equipment for research, but thankfully, it wasn't too expensive. For now, all the functions he wanted had been mostly realized thanks to Mavis's wisdom. Any further features would require more slow and steady research. Because his research expenses weren't too high, Noah was able to save up enough money to buy a house.
"S-Class wizards make that much money? I want to be an S-Class wizard too," the three of them said, a glimmer of longing in their eyes.
"If you work hard, you probably have a good chance of becoming S-Class in a few years," Noah told them. He looked at the three of them; their talent was not bad, in fact, it was excellent. Once they returned to the guild and received proper foundational training, given the guild's current resources, becoming S-Class after a few years of hard work was not out of the question.
The three of them imagined themselves as S-Class wizards for a moment before Simon was the first to snap out of it. "How are we getting to Magnolia now? Are you just going to teleport us there?"
"No. I'm going to walk back with you. I'll teach you some necessary skills along the way."
Of course, Noah could have teleported them back to the guild in an instant. But this was a perfect opportunity, and there was no rush. It was better to take them on a journey, with Fairy Tail in Magnolia as their destination. Along the way, he could teach them all sorts of knowledge needed for surviving in the wild, in towns, and on missions. At the same time, he could teleport back to the guild, pick up a few small, convenient jobs along their route, and let them experience how to complete a mission firsthand. This way, they could immediately start adapting to guild life once they arrived and get through the uncertain period after leaving home without too much trouble.
