A New Life in Fairy Tail

Chapter 25: Erza's Trio Joins the Guild

Hearing that they would be walking the whole way, Erza and the others were both a little anxious and a little excited. They were anxious because they had never traveled so far from home, and excited because this was their first long journey, a thrilling exploration of the unknown.

Noah took the three of them to see the village chief and explained that he was taking them to join Fairy Tail. The chief agreed. Ever since he had witnessed Noah's incredible display of power the previous night, his trust in Fairy Tail had grown immensely. And since Noah had promised to bring them back often, the chief was naturally at ease.

After saying goodbye to the chief, the three of them went to bid farewell to the other villagers they were close to. The villagers all wished them well, hoping they would have good lives, and urged them to come back and visit often. Erza and the others readily promised and then said their goodbyes.

Leaving the village, they greeted the still-busy members of the Royal Army and the Magic Council. The two officials once again promised to notify Noah as soon as they had any news, expressing how much they hoped for his help. Noah, of course, also hoped to formally join the force that would assault the dark magic cult's strongholds, but he would have to wait for the results.

After bidding them farewell, the four of them officially began their journey, setting out for Magnolia.

Along the way, Noah passed on his own experiences to the three of them, including survival in the wild, navigating towns, and more. He even specifically teleported back to the guild and picked up a few monster subjugation requests for places they would be passing through. Other types of quests weren't very suitable for them, but subjugation quests were perfect. With his own strength, Noah could guarantee their safety, his teleportation magic being the ultimate safeguard. During these quests, Noah would have his Thought Projection carry out the mission while his real body watched from a safe distance with the three kids, just in case.

These subjugation missions gave Erza, Simon, and Kagura a full appreciation of Noah's power. They also witnessed two of Fairy Tail's Grand Magics up close: Fairy Law and Fairy Glitter. Both the radiant light of Fairy Law and the heaven-and-earth-piercing column of light from Fairy Glitter left a deep impression on them.

However, the environmental damage from the Grand Magic was a bit much. Fairy Law was fine, as it only destroyed what the caster perceived as an enemy and did little damage to the surroundings. But Fairy Glitter was different. It collected and condensed the light of the sun, moon, and stars—and his improved version collected all sorts of energy—becoming an unforgiving light from the heavens that rejected the existence of all enemies. The environmental damage was immense. He cast it once during a subjugation mission, and the result was the complete obliteration of a mountaintop. Thankfully, no one else was around, but it still scared Noah enough that he quickly led them away from that mountain range.

Besides passing on his experience, Noah also led them in physical and magical conditioning. He didn't teach them any specific type of magic, however. He intended for them to find something suitable for themselves in the Fairy Tail library, or to wait until their magic power had been trained to a certain level, at which point they might awaken their own innate magic.

Traveling at a steady pace, the four of them, thanks to their training, were quite fit. It took them about ten days to return to Magnolia.

Noah led the trio back to the guild. As he opened the doors, a wave of noise washed over them. Noah stepped inside, tossed two guild members who were arguing in the doorway outside, and then cleared a path as he led the three children towards the counter. The guild hall was filled with members roughhousing with each other. Erza, Simon, and Kagura were clearly intimidated, following Noah with trembling steps. Kagura clutched Simon's hand tightly, Simon's own legs were shaking a bit, and Erza was grabbing onto the corner of Noah's shirt, following closely behind him.

They finally made it to the counter. Makarov was sitting on top of it. "You're back," he said to Noah. "I figured you'd be back around this time. Are these three the ones you mentioned...?"

"Yes. These three are the new members I'm recommending for the guild."

Noah then reported everything that had happened, explaining the trio's situation and how he had invited them to join the guild after learning they had no parents, hoping they could have a better life.

Makarov listened and nodded. He turned to the three children. "What are your names?"

"Erza Belserion."

"Simon Mikazuchi."

"Kagura Mikazuchi."

Erza's surname was one Noah had given her after they got to know each other and he learned she didn't have one. Noah had told her that Belserion was the name of a Sage Dragon and that it was a very fitting surname for her. Although Erza found it a little strange, she had accepted it.

Makarov continued, "Do you all want to join Fairy Tail?"

"Big Brother Noah recommended it. He said the guild is full of comrades and family, so I want to join," Erza said.

"Noah recommended it, and I trust Noah," Simon said.

"I'll follow my brother," Kagura said simply.

Hearing their answers, Makarov nodded. "As the Guild Master, I approve your request to join Fairy Tail. Now, I'll apply your guild marks. Where do you want them, and in what color?"

After they had chosen, Makarov applied their guild emblems. As soon as the marks were on their skin, all three of them felt a surge of energy. Simon asked curiously, "What is this? Why do I feel so energized after getting the guild mark? Is it like this for all guilds?"

"Nope," a nearby guild member chimed in. "Only our guild is like this. It's one of our guild's special perks."

The three of them looked at their new guild marks with great interest, examining them over and over.

Makarov stood on the counter and announced to everyone, "To celebrate Erza, Simon, and Kagura joining the guild, let's have a feast!"

"YEAHHH!!!"

Everyone cheered enthusiastically and swarmed the three newcomers, bombarding them with questions.

"The two little ladies are so cute! How old are you?"

"What's the relationship between the three of you?"

"You two are brother and sister? What's your village like?"

"I heard Noah was really active this time! Do you know the details?"

"Yeah, tell us what Noah did!"

Erza and the others were completely overwhelmed. The guild members would even start fighting amongst themselves while asking questions. They finally managed to escape the crowd and found Noah and Makarov chatting in a corner.

Simon asked Noah, "Is everyone always this... enthusiastic?" Just then, a mug flew past his head. He broke out in a cold sweat. "Is this okay?"

"Don't worry," Noah replied with a laugh. "This is the guild's good atmosphere. You'll get used to it. Don't you think it's full of life?"
